The game of Basketball has been my passion since I was 5 years old. I grew up as a kid watching my dad's recorded VHS tapes of playoff games through the 70s and 80s, and collected all the Basketball cards. Something about the game and what it represents just hooked me from a very young age.
My love for the game only continues to grow as time goes on. I love studying and analyzing the game, with an unbiased perspective. Feel free to subscribe, follow me on social media, and celebrate this amazing game and it's rich history with me!
I post videos every week on NBA history, predictions, hypothetical scenarios and current NBA topics.

Do you agree? Does Kobe have a legit case to be crowned the NBA's GOAT?
Also check out the other videos (Bill and Wilt) in my GOAT series. More GOAT videos to come...

Jonny Arnett -NBA TH-camr bro I love Kobe but gimme a damn break how can he be the Goat when he has 1 league MVP? 5-2 in the finals w only 3 MVPs, never was the DPOY & copies most if not all his moves from MJ?? He’s the closest thing to MJ but he’s nowhere near MJ. I can go on & on & on but that’s all I need to say right there. They lost to the pistons w ShaQ!! That’s all that needs to be said. Also lost the Celtics in game 6 of the finals by 39!! Nice try tho

kyle Messineo Keep in mind that this is a GOAT series. If you don’t like this GOAT video, there will be at least 5 other vids of mine, making other player’s GOAT cases. I’ve already done 2 others, and several more on their way. I’m sure you’ll agree with one of them, unless Brian Scalabrine is your GOAT.... lol

Jonny Arnett -NBA TH-camr So you decided to start w the best big man of all time & Kobe who’s not even in the Goat convo?

    • @jonnyarnett
      @jonnyarnett  5 ปีที่แล้ว +58

kyle Messineo Being in the conversation and actually being the GOAT are two different things entirely. Many would disagree with the idea that’s he’s not in the conversation at all.
Quite literally he’s in the conversation because many people believe he is and claim he is. It’s not like being the “GOAT” is something you can objectively win, so it’s up to peoples interpretation.
Plus I did a poll, and over 50% wanted Kobe’s GOAT video next, so that explains the order.

Dude. How do you possibly leave out that Kobe is tied with Jordan & 2 other players for the NBA record for the most NBA all defensive first team selections with 9. Nine times. How do you possibly leave out that Kobe is 3rd on the all time scoring list. This video was wrong at 1:33 when it said Kobe was 4th on the all time scoring list. LeBron is 4th, Kobe Bryant ist actually 3rd. Every Kobe fan knows these things, Jesus Christ. C'mon man you're embarrassing us.

KOBE BEAN BRYANT aka MR.National Bryant Association is tha GOAT he played through more contratversty than any player including broken bones, weak ass teammates, Shaq antics which I can only imagine be alot on anyone and also the one thing that I looked at as inspiration is when he was battling his legal battles and making a way to play tha same day as his legal trials and not only playing but play like tha best in tha world for tha fans and this man freedom was in tha balance getting lost but he didn't think about that legal matter cause when he stepped on a NBA COURT it was about putting a show on for tha fans. THE GOAT KOBE

It’s crazy how people think Kobe isn’t in the top 10. I grew up a Celtics fan. I remember yelling at my TV when the lakers met the Celtics in 2008. I was literally yelling that they should double team him. I hated Kobe for that. But I grew to love him as a player. People will say oh he’s not clutch cause he has missed a lot of shots in clutch moment. But it’s shown that in the 4th quarter he’s one of the players you want on the court because of his ability to bring his team back, whether scoring or setting up his teammates whether through assists or just setting up a team mate without getting an assist for it

Another important thing to note is that Kobe missed the chance to compete for the championship in many years of his career when he should have:
    a. When Chris Paul was not allowed by the NBA to go to the Lakers
    b. When Steve nash and Dwight Howard got injured
    c. The times when Andrew Bynum got injured
I know great players always have their down years waiting for good teammates to be drafted or traded before being able to compete for a championship even MJ and LBJ had those years, for Kobe it was after Shaq left. but Kobe's was in a different level, it was almost as if whenever he gets a chance to compete, bad things happen to the team and he would have to wait again.
If these things did not happen i see Kobe winning more than 6 rings easily. He even got 5 Rings in his career for God's sake how did he do that? The answer is in the title of this video...

Wrong Kobe wasnt winning any more rings even with Chris Paul
Lakers was gone trade Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom for Chris Paul
Old Kobe Bryant and Chris Paul and jello knees Andrew Bynum and Mike Brown at head coach not a championship team 😂
Kobe Bryant ring days was over after Mavs 4-0 swept his ass in 2011 playoffs
      Kobe all star teammates career
      Shaq O'Neal (97, 98, 00, 01, 02, 03, 04)
      Eddie Jones (1997, 1998)
      Nick Van Exel (1998)
      Pau Gasol (2009, 2010, 2011)
      Andrew Bynum (2012)
      Dwight Howard (2013)
All star teammates goat 🐐Jordan had
      Scottie Pippen (90, 92, 93, 95, 96, 97)
Kobe has had more all star teammates in career and still hes less sucessful then goat 🐐Jordan
Kobe did less with more than Jordan
Jordan did more with less than Kobe😂
Jordan 6 times best player on his teams titles
Kobe 2 times best player on his teams titles
      Finals Mvps
      Jordan 6✔ (most all time)

      First Ring
Jordan 31.4 ppg and 55.8% fg and 50% 3pt and 11.4 apg and 6.6 rpg
Shaq 3 finals mvps best player on Lakers 3peat carried Kobe to 3 sidekick rings
Goat 🐐Jordan never needed a top 10 all time player like Shaq to win titles😂
      2004 nba finals
      Pistons 4 Lakers 1
Kobe 22 ppg on 38% fg and 17% 3pt locked down by Tyshaun Prince
      2004 nba finals
Shaq 26 ppg on 63% fg an 10 rpg vs Detriot Pistons

Awesome video! My favorite player is Wilt and a friend of mine’s favorite player is Kobe, gotta love both! My favorite Kobe Bryant story is that he was practicing shooting hoops and was consistently missing, he talked with an official, they took their measurements and he was right, the hoop was wrong at the wrong measurement by a slight amount, that’s why he was missing, and he was so hardworking that he even got the measurement that it was off right solely by trying to make some hoops.

LeBron has a better all around basketball game (30,000 career points 8,000 rebounds and 9,000 assists in a 17 year career; most triple doubles in nba postseason history)
He carried his playoff teams to the championship round for eight straight seasons

Larry was the first player in NBA history to record a 50/40/90 shooting season

    Kobe's case for GOAT summarised:
    - 5 championships
    - 4th best scorer ever
    - most game-winning shots ever
In response to the argument that "he had Shaq":
    - In 2000 (their first Championship year):
    - Kobe saved the team in game 7 against Blazers
    - Kobe saved the team in game 4 of the Finals when Shaq fouled out
    - In 2001 & 2002, Shaq might have been Finals MVP, but Kobe was Playoffs MVP (better stats during the playoffs).
Basically, Kobe was already a great clutch, Championship-worthy player, arguably better than Shaq in 2/3 of their championship years (and Kobe was only 21-23 years of age).
In his post-Shaq years, when he had a terrible team, he was still accomplishing incredible bests:
    - 81-point game (2nd highest points by a single player in a game ever, behind Wilt's 100)
    - Outscored Mavericks in first 3 quarters of 2006 game all by himself (he didn't play 4th quarter; imagine if he did)
    - 50 in 4 straight games
    - etc
    Kobe's last 2 championships were incredibly hard-won:
    - 2008: Their 3rd-best player got injured 50 games in and was out for the season; they still won.
    - 2009: Kobe fractured his index finger on his shooting hand 21 games in; Kobe played on without rest or surgery, and still won.
And ofc he won both these without Shaq (tbf Kobe finally had a good teammate in Pau Gasol, but they were hardly a power-duo; Kobe was still very much carrying his team to Championships). Any notion that Kobe doesn't deserve to be in the GOAT convo because "he had Shaq" should be dismissed based on these 2 championships alone.
Kobe's wins & feats are impressive enough, but GOAT-worthy when you take context into account.

He was the hardest working player ever in basketball business and can rightly be called the master where as basketball is concerned, it's my contention that their is no such thing as the greatest of all time but there is such a thing as the greatest and great players during a particular era.

    @rpesik 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Agree totally with you.
Another additional from me, is that the reason Shaq has slightly more PPG han Kobe is because of the coach's (Phil's) decission and strategy. Kobe himself also told us the strory where Phil asked him to hold back a bit because Shaq started feeling easy, relaxed and relied on Kobe too much when Kobe has the monsterous scoring streak.
Lets play what if. Switch Le Bron in Cav with Kobe in Lakers. What would happen? Le Bron's PPG will go down, APG goes up, RPG goes down. Kobe's PPG will sky rocket.
Championship wise? We can never tell if Shaq-Bron could win more than 3, or if Kobe can bring Cav a championship. What I am certain though, Shaq-LBJ will have a bit more troubles during crunch times in playoffs due to their bad free throw percentage.
