This week we also celebrated National Volunteering Week. I attended the Brisbane Botanic Gardens to celebrate the remarkable contributions of all the volunteers at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha, City Botanic Gardens and Sherwood Arboretum. I also spent some time with Thread Together, this organisation partners with charities and social service agencies to clothe individuals, families and communities in need. Lastly, I visited the Square Knitters at Aveo Taringa Parkside. These lovely ladies knit blankets to give away to The Salvation Army Australia and Australian Red Cross to help those in need.
Thankyou to all volunteers in Brisbane for your dedication and enthusiasm.
During this Small Business Month, I had the opportunity to spend some time with some Moggill Road area businesses and have a chat with them. Thankyou all for your feedback.
The Walter Taylor Ward office is a drop off location for many community initiatives including:
Square Knitters - wool donations.
Baby Give Back - pre-loved baby and kid clothes up to size 5.
Communify - non-perishable food items.
There are several significant changes rolling out to the Moggill Road Corridor Upgrade currently. Brisbane City Council is also doing some maintenance work on The Walter Taylor Bridge.
Wishing everyone a great fortnight ahead!
Warm regards,
Cr Penny Wolff
