ACTUALLY, the USA has no 'Official Language'. English is just 'de facto', but not 'de jure' (aka. made part of law). The United States Constitution does not explicitly declare any official language, although the constitution is written in English, as is all federal legislation. Please be more careful in what you present as facts in your videos. I love your channel, but I seem to find a lot errors recently in your videos. Aside from that, keep up the good work!
Bro, I understand your point but we’re not waking around speaking French or Mandarin, most people speak English so it’s pretty safe to say from a non factual standpoint, the official language is English
As a Quebecer, let me correct a few things they got very wrong... First: Poutine (pronounced "POO-tin") does NOT have cheese on it. It has cheese curds. If someone is putting cheese on their poutine, they're not making an authentic poutine -- just some cheap wannabe knock-off. Oh, and to be truly authentic, its beef gravy. Not that brown sludge made from powder. Second: Schools. I can't speak for other provinces; but in Quebec, we have Primary Schools (elementary) K-6; Secondary Schools (high school) 7-11 (also known as Secondary 1-5); CEGEP (Collège d'enseignement général et professionnel, which translates to English as a "general and vocational college") for 1-2 (or even 3) years depending on the program of studies chosen, and the pre-requisites for University (if you choose to go further). And note, everything after secondary school (grade 11) is optional. Third: Healthcare. This is more a response to other comments here than a comment about information in the video. Yes, the American system *seems* to be able to provide faster service, that is often only true if you can afford to pay. While you might have to wait a few hours to see a doctor for non-urgent (and I stress NON-URGENT) care at a Canadian hospital, at least you're not stuck with a medical bill that often results in people declaring personal bankruptcy. I speak from personal experience. I have had both hips replaced, and neurosurgery to repair a herniated spinal cord. In each case, I spent 14 days in the hospital and paid nothing. After the neurosurgery, I then spent 8 weeks at a physical rehabilitation centre as an in-patient (I lived there and had daily treatments, exercises, and evaluations). Again, no bill to pay. Then there are all the tests and exams I had pre- and post-op (bloodwork, MRIs, x-rays, etc.); and consultations with specialists -- physiotherapists, ergotherapists (occupational therapists), physiologists, urologists, prosthetists, neurologists, neuro-surgeons, orthopaedists, anaesthesiologists, radiologists, pharmacists, dietitians, etc. To this day, I see my neurologist 4 times per year for treatments to control muscle spasms. Did I get a bill ? Not a one. Yes, I may have had to wait a few months for each ELECTIVE / NON-URGENT surgery; but better that than be stuck with medical bills in the tens of thousands of dollars that I might never be able to pay off. I can't imagine what I might have to pay had I been in the US. As for URGENT or EMERGENCY care... arrive at a hospital with a heart-attack or any other life-threatening conditions and you're rushed into treatment or surgery immediately. I'm sure that happens every day at hospitals in the US, but so do bankruptcy-inducing medical bills. If its all the same to you, I'll pay the higher taxes, thank you very much.
As Canadian myself, I agree with the Canadian health care system. But the American health care system offers more innovative/experimental treatments/advanced treatments than treatments that may be offered in Canada. The US are innovators, creating new ways to cure someone of whatever needs to be cured. While the innovation is great, the people in America also need to be looked after and have free health for everyone
@J P i know that but we are very similar. right middle school (in the province i live in) is 7-9 and different than american culture but like i said we dont all eat putine or beaver tails and we play the similar sports same structured cities as us. like i havent even eaten putine in my life and only ate beaver tails twice. yes we do have our differences though
Once I heard "elementary school until 6th grade" I lost all hope. In most of Ontario, elementary school is until grade 8, not grade 6. Also, we say the "Grade" before the following level.
That's not even what was said in the video and your also wrong since there is definently middle school, also we say both grade 6 and 6th grade here.... bruh.
Yeah, it depends on the province. I live in BC and our elementary schools are until 6th grade, Middle school is until 9th grade and so on. Yeah, we say it both ways, for example: 6th grade and grade 6 are both correct.
This is so weird. We used to have middle schools, until they were fazed out almost a decade ago and it changed to kindergarten to grade seven and then 9-12 for high school. I lived in BC btw.
I live in Toronto and here elementary schools are 1 to 6, middle is 7 to 8, and high is 9 to 12. However, i know some 1 to 8 elementary schools. Also we say both grade before and after
They also don’t have coffee crisp and smarties... and the candy we call rockets (hard chalky candies) are smarties to them... also kinder surprise are band in America ...
In Canada, college is a 2 year school. If you want a 4 year degree, you go to university. They are not interchangeable terms. They're very different things.
You can go to college for 2 years. If you want a 4 year degree (more commonly known as a bachelors degree) you go to college for 2 years then university for 2 years.
310s college Mechanic course is 4 years although mine was a apprenticeship in southern Ontario if that's any help.. think its different depending on course/school.
In Canada, it’s a provincial/territorial thing if you have middle school or not (often called junior high). For example in Alberta elementary school is from kindergarten - grade 6, junior high from 7-9 and the high school from 10-12. Whereas in Saskatchewan, they don’t have a middle school and instead, elementary runs from kindergarten - grade 8 and the high school is from grades 9 - 12
I believe in some cases it may be different from municipality to municipality I live in BC and we have recently started using a middle school due to help deal with the steady increase in population where as two years ago there was only high school and elementary.
When I lived in alberta, it was primary:k-3, elementary: 4-6, junior high: 7-9, and senior high: 10-12. But it all depends on the county you live in I think
As a Canadian, I would like to clarify that Hockey has always been and is currently our #1 sport, followed by Baseball being #2 . Also both Soccer and Football come ahead of Basketball here in Canada.
Yup. Alberta and Newfoundland have middle schools but they call them "junior high" and they are usually grades six through nine. I know of some exceptions due to school crowding issues where an extra grade is either included or not. Maybe there are no middle schools in southern Ontario. I think a lot of American opinion on Canada is based on that area?
squirrelnuts I live in southern Ontario, and I go to middle school that’s grades 6-8. The elementary schools in my area are grades kindergarten-5, and the high schools are grades 9-12, just like the American ones. But, that’s seems to only be in my area, people I know that live outside my area usually don’t go to middle school or go to a shorter one.
That's because poutine is really a Quebecer tradition. We do take it seriously over there. I grew up on it. My parents would drive for hours in the Summer time to get to a small town poutine shop that made it with green pepper. It was that important. We had to drive for three hours to get the perfect poutine. And when I moved out of Quebec to English Canada, the Quebecer friends I made over here and I would hunt for the best poutine restaurant that made it the way we do at home. Same thing with smokemeat, every true Montrealer knows the best one is the one from Maine restaurant on St Laurent. My dad made sure to take me to several smokemeat restaurants so I would know where to find the best one.The food stuff is not completely wrong, it's just not really Canadian, it's Quebecer and Quebecer culture is just a different culture than the rest of Canada.
Well as a canadian im going to hide in my igloo watching hockey while chugging down poutine and maple syrup and walk my pet beaver and pet moose after... if my pets attack me i have my free healthcare and i can say sorry to my pet beaver and moose
Basketball takes over hockey as the most popular sport in Canada? Uh, no, absolutely not. We love all sports, but hockey rules. We are hockey crazy here!
That's because hockey is ridiculously expensive. All the equipment, plus fees to the program to pay for ice time etc, can add up to thousands of dollars per year. I stopped playing hockey at 15 because it was about 1/10th the cost to play both basketball and football in high school vs the cost of hockey alone. (plus I was just a lot better at those sports lol) Hockey is still the national sport by a mile. More and more people can't afford to play, but the fan base is still huge.
Emilio2Chainz ''like statically basketball has more youth participation than hockey in Canada'' If that is true, it's only because it costs less, like soccer. Basketball does not very often lead you to a career . The US has the monopoly of professional players in basketball, football, baseball but not in hockey. The largest proportion of hockey players in the NHL are canadian born players and the NHL's list of the greatest stars ever are for the most part canadian born players. When I was a kid in the late fifties and early sixties, canadian born players constituted the totality of the NHL's 6 teams until Thomas Mark "Tommy, The Bomber" Williams (April 17, 1940 - February 8, 1992) became the first American player to regularly play in the National Hockey League since the retirement of Frank Brimsek in 1950.
Each province in Canada has a different system. In Alberta it elementary up to 6th, junior high from 7th to 9th, and high school from 10-12 whereas other provinces are different. I’m pretty sure in BC high school is 9-12
This is the wrongest shit I've ever seen. That's not even a word but whatever. Hockey is the most popular sport in Canada by a mile. Basketball doesn't even get close. We don't got to elementary school till grade 5, we go until grade 8. Then high school is 9-12. As a Canadian in Ontario, I'm CHESSED.
HOW IDIOTIC ARE YOU? THERE'S TERRIOTORIAL AND DIFFERENT PROVINCES OF HOW SCHOOL GRADES GO UP TO THERE IN EACH SCHOOL. DO SOME ACTUAL RESEARCH FIRST BEFORE YOU PROVE SOMEONE WRONG
Maybe where you are, but here in Montreal, we have elementary from jk-grade 6, Highscool from sec 1-5 (7-11) Cegep for two or three years (Depends on your course) and then University.

There are, in fact, a lot. BC has Middle Schools, so does Ontario, Alberta as well I think and maybe NB/Manitoba. Quebec does not. Not sure about other Provinces, each runs its own education system.
It should be jk-grade 5 then 6-8, then 9-12 or some schools do jk-8, 9-12 grade levels. I think higher population density areas have jk-gr5 setup but never heard of gr7-12.
The fact of Canada not having middle schools is untrue. I was born and currently live in New Brunswick and I went to elementary school from kindergarten to grade 5, middle school from grade 6 to 8, and high school from grade 9 to 12 before starting university. The system you laid out does exist here but is a lot less common (at least in the Atlantic provinces) and actually goes K to 8 for a combined elementary and middle and then normal high school after that. (Edit: I should have read the pinned comment before ranting. Apologies.)

Umm since when is basketball more popular than hockey? I live in Alberta and I don't know anyone who watches basketball. Hockey is way way wayyy more popular.
I heard that soccer was overtaking hockey just because getting all the equipment for hockey is expensive so fewer parents are putting their kids into it.
The problem is such a huge portion of Canada's population lives in and around Toronto. Because of this the most supported Canadian teams are the Toronto Teams. In Toronto the Raptors have a bigger more loyal following then the Leafs
This is ridiculous! They want to show what we eat so they show our fast food! We don’t eat poutine and chips on a regular basis; we usually eat healthy food most of the time or at least everyone I know does. Hamburgers and hotdogs are also very big here and there’s a McDonald’s every few blocks in Montreal. We are just known for having poutine and beaver tails because we’re one of if not the only place we’re you can get it although I have found a really good poutine at New Hampshire (who knew). This should describe the average Canadian because there are still many exceptions.

Aside from that, keep up the good work!
sounds like semantics to me dude. I think its pretty fucking dumb to argue that english isnt the official language of USA.
Mitch H It's not dumb to argue that point considering he's 100% correct
Bro, I understand your point but we’re not waking around speaking French or Mandarin, most people speak English so it’s pretty safe to say from a non factual standpoint, the official language is English
32 states in the US have adopted English as their language status so also there you go

Once I heard "elementary school until 6th grade" I lost all hope. In most of Ontario, elementary school is until grade 8, not grade 6. Also, we say the "Grade" before the following level.
That's not even what was said in the video and your also wrong since there is definently middle school, also we say both grade 6 and 6th grade here.... bruh.
I don’t go to middle school, it depends what *CITY* and province you are in
Yeah, it depends on the province.

You don't have to. I went to university for 4 years right after high school. -Canadian
GamingSource 2 years college and 2 years university or you can just do 4 years university. - canadian
theres college programs theatre more than 2 years.. as I'm in one
Katelynn G Also, composite schools exist where you go to the same school your entire life. I've seen that is Sask.
Actually we have a middle school, we have elementary that goes pre-k to grade 4, middle school that goes grade 5-8, and high school that goes 9-12
For Saskatchewan it's the same here in Ontario or at least toronto
As a Canadian, I would like to clarify that Hockey has always been and is currently our #1 sport, followed by Baseball being #2 . Also both Soccer and Football come ahead of Basketball here in Canada.

I’m Canadian and there’s plenty of middle schools
They’re talking about the average Canadian.
Ya
squirrelnuts I live in southern Ontario, and I go to middle school that’s grades 6-8. The elementary schools in my area are grades kindergarten-5, and the high schools are grades 9-12, just like the American ones. But, that’s seems to only be in my area, people I know that live outside my area usually don’t go to middle school or go to a shorter one.
Exactly
Nah us Canadians eat the same food as them and I’ve literally never tried poutine and I don’t know anyone who eats it on a regular basis

Basketball takes over hockey as the most popular sport in Canada? Uh, no, absolutely not. We love all sports, but hockey rules. We are hockey crazy here!
Shavauna Ronan like statically basketball has more youth participation than hockey in Canada
(plus I was just a lot better at those sports lol)
Hockey is still the national sport by a mile. More and more people can't afford to play, but the fan base is still huge.
Have you been to Toronto fam

''like statically basketball has more youth participation than hockey in Canada''
If that is true, it's only because it costs less, like soccer.
