BERKELEY T60 of 1960

  • I saw this lovely little sports-car in the Classics Museum in Hamilton / New Zealand. The Berkeley T60 was built by Berkeley Cars in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire. The car had 4 speed and reverse gearbox and the engine was from 328ccm to 998ccm.
    In the UK the three-wheelers were quite popular because they could legally be driven on a motorcycle licence, so they were suitable for a motorcyclist with family and in addition the taxes for the purchase and road tax fees for three-wheelers were also considerably less than for four-wheeled vehicles.
    In 1959 the Berkeley T60 was just 400,- GBP and 1800 cars were produced and sold.
