I love this! I need to get away from SM now and just do…..I have been watching so many things that my mind has been bombarded with so many ideas I’ve been just lung in circles! I don’t want or need to do masterpieces. This is just for me and making me happy and having fun! And using junk mail ! Oh wow! ❤
These are definitely interesting. I'm still not entirely comfortable with this type of style (I'm most comfortable with collage), but I'm getting more confident, which is good.
Hi Margarete, love your journal process. This is how I have been making mine except that I bind the books with my sewing machine. I can then tip-in other things I want so I get that lovely full look. I just wanted to say for those out there that want to get into art journaling but feel intimidated, making a junk journal to practice techniques is great because you don't feel like you are going to "ruin" your journal. I think it just frees you up a little to experiment. It can also help you get a sense of what you prefer in terms of size of journal, single or double-sided spreads, etc. so you don't buy journals you end up disliking. Thank you for the video!
Hi Tara, you are so right! Making a journal like this out of trash and then using it as a place to practice is a great way for someone to try new things and not feel like you are going to ruin something. I have to try it with a sewing machine. That's such a great idea. Thanks for your comments.
I just came across your channel by way of this video. I too have lots of cut outs from various magazines & publications. My stash is huge compared to yours & I questioned myself for a moment(am I a hoarder?) lol. But that's because presently I don't have a lot of time to devote to my crafting. That will change in a couple months so I tell myself I'm simply gathering & saving til then. I like that you use actual junk in your junk journals & I love collage. So you have given me some ideas & techniques to try. Thank you so much for sharing!
I'm so glad :-) I'm pleased you got some ideas and will start creating something. Oh, and I question myself all the time: am I keeping too much? Have I passed the tipping point? Am I now officially a hoarder? I'm careful. I don't want to go down that road ;-)
I really like your journals Margarete. I love how everyone has her or his own take on the junk journaling trend and it is such a creative process. Thank you for sharing your journals!
very nice.i too keep a lot of junk and cut from magazines. so relaxing and calm. I like to use coloring books and those small kids puzzle books. love it!😊
Hi Patricia, These books are essentially art journals where I experiment with art processes and ideas, so I keep them and thumb through them to get ideas of how I liked something I did or what I would do differently the next time. They are for self reflection, I guess ;-)
Have you ever made paper out of your scraps? thefrugalcraftyrushdlady.blogspot.com/2010/12/handmade-paper-from-used-christmas-wrap.html You can also use a little bit of sandpaper to rough up the glossy paper and take the sheen down a bit. Makes it also look a little distressed and vintage.
super helpful video for me! I can't wait to make one like this!
Awesome, Stacy!! Thanks for stopping by :-)
I am a new subbie that’s taking a deep dive thru your YT junk journal vids. Thank you for illuminating your creative process! 🙏🏾✨💜🥰👍🏾 06/2024
You are so welcome, Gwen❣️ Glad you enjoyed this 💙

I find there's such freedom in using junk. The pressure is off to do great or perfect work. Instead, you just DO. 👍🏻💙
Great video. You truly have an eye for putting things together. Hard to believe that they were once just a pile of junk mail. Nicely done!
Thanks, Debbie. Does that mean you will be making something from junk mail too? I hope so :-)
Love what you do with your supplies. My favorite kind of journals.

I love your style. And I really like how you combine your rubber stamping. Inspiring. TFS.
Thanks, Julie :-)

Great video! my question is what do you do with the journal when you're all done or is it just something nice to look through?
