      I agree. I tried the shield mags and thought they looked and felt cheap and heard all of the reliability horror stories. Switched to the PSA and will run them interchangeably at the range with the stock mags and notice no performance differences between the two.

    In my humble opinion, the Glock 48 is one of the best CCW options on the market today, Longer sight radius and softer recoil is a definite plus. Using factory parts in critical components such as mags and internal trigger parts also makes the most sense in an EDC tool. #greatvideo

    Try shooting the 48 one handed and you see why this will always be my EDC. It is spot on. The barrel does not rise and the recoil is felt pushing directly back on the grip. For this reason I love the gun. You won't always have a cool two handed tacti cool stance when fighting for your life laying on the ground.

    My 48 is setup with the same sight and I love it. I would have like an RMR but couldn't bring my self to pay for it. It turns out I LOVE the circle/dot reticle. So fast and easy to acquire a target. Otherwise, I use my 48 as a summertime carry gun replacing my Glock 42. I had +1 extensions for the 42 to give me 7+1 of .380 so 10+1 of 9mm beats it every day. In the winter I switch to my Gen 5 19 just because I usually have a bit bulkier clothes. I feel like either way I have plenty of rounds (11 or 16) to handle any situation I'll hopefully never find myself in. A lot of guys seem to think they are going to wind up in an extended shootout of some sort which is highly unlikely.
    The only thing I don't like is I'm a lefty and the slim magazine release on the 48 is really difficult to engage without shifting hands. I assume they didn't make it ambidextrous because there wasn't room in the frame to do so but it sure would have been nice.
    Also, like you, I stick to factory everything on my guns. I don't have trouble shooting any of them just the way they are. Usually all the Glock failures I see are related to some after market parts that were added.

    "sticking to factory" on a glock of all guns is ridiculous, and not realizing the potential of the gun by refusing the s15 mags is unreasonable when you specifically have a pimped out p320 you're comparing it to in the video

    • @rdrgear
      @rdrgear  2 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      The 320 is actually all OEM factory internals. The trigger Grouo is stock. The frame is Wilson just like a stipple frame on a glock. The S15 mags have failed, just like the p320 has had issues. Not sure what your point is.

    • @rensuzugamori2531
      @rensuzugamori2531 2 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Everywhere you see these s15 defenders. I have owned 3 S15 mags and I stopped using them. Yes they work pretty well but Glock’s slogan isn’t “works most of the time”. If you use S15 mags then you no longer have Glock Perfection. Not worth it in my opinion. If I want a fun range gun with cool stipple and lightening cuts and super light red trigger, then sure I’ll use S15 mags to show off but for my carry or duty guns, I just use stock Glocks.

    • @rdrgear
      @rdrgear  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@rensuzugamori2531 I have never had a factory glock. That never had a problem. The slogan is just that a slogan. Ammo, mags, the human shooting it all play a factor. At the end of the day. The malfunction is exactly that. The person experiencing the malfunction should be skilled enough to address the type of malfunction and get the pistol back up to working order. Since adding the S15 mags and adding the Metal mag release there. Have been zero issues with feeding or extracting. To rely on a slogan is a bit much, at the end of the day nothing is Murphy proof. OEM or aftermarket.

      The shield mags are shit. Shield arms’ approach to QC is to send out non-operational bullshit, make the customer send them back and repeat 3 times until you wind up with mags that finally work

      I am not a fan of having to mount an optic (higher)on top of a plate. I know my idea of a “perfect G48” will cost more for milling and refinishing, but…. Get a non-MOS G48. Cut the slide (including the rear sight notch) to custom fit my favorite Holosun optic as far back as possible. Cut a notch in front of the optic for the rear sight (combat cut). I believe this would allow co-witnessing, without having to install suppressor height sights. Nothing to block a full view into the optic glass.

      I have a bunch of them and 2 that hold 20 I had to file down the mettle off the inside of slide next to the ejector but gun has run great after just look at all your other glocks and make the 48 the same at the ejector point on inside ware the catch for the bullet is sharp angle make that flat like the rest of glock .

    Both the average and median number of rounds fired in a self defense shooting is……..2. In those cases where more than 2 rounds were fired, the shooter most often fired to slide lock at a single target regardless of capacity, and in many of those cases it simply wasn’t necessary and the person essentially panicked and opened themselves up to more liability. This may come as a shock to some people but you’re not John Wick out there. You’d be much better served safety wise carrying around a fire extinguisher, dropping alcohol from your life, and eating more healthy than carrying more than 11 rounds in your carry gun. Not to say you shouldn’t carry as many rounds as you want to, but the reality is, it’s really a non issue. The key is carry a gun that is comfortable enough that you’re more likely to carry it and that you also shoot well and feel confident in.

    11 rounds in the gun, 15 rounds for a reload. If I'm in a situation where I already burned 11 rounds and the problem's not solved, then I need the 15, and I'll take the risk on a 3rd party mag. 🙂 The PSA Dagger mags seem like they have some good reviews, I just ordered a few of those.

    10 rounds are common in most states. If used for law enforcement or retired, under the law enforcement safety act, which lets retired officers carry in all states, 20 and 1 is the norm permitted except for 2 or 3 states.

      Well I don’t disagree on the glock over sig. your comment about the safe area table. Most organized range facilities have a dedicated are and or table that Is for handling guns. Instead of sounding like an uneducated person regarding guns which you did very well. Just ask. “What’s with the safe area sign”. But with a handle like Colt 10mm security, I should have known.

    A red dot is useless on a carry gun. I own a Glock 48. I will have shot you twice before you find your dot. BTW sports fans, I have been using the Gen 2 Shield mags ever since they came out. Zero FTFs after 100 rounds of Federal 147 HST. Zero FTFs after over 1,000 rds of reloads.

    • @rdrgear

      Ok so let me ask you a legit question. How much time do you feel or think it take to acquire a rds. Versus front sight/point shooting. The RDS debate is tough because most who are against it. Have spent very little time on it if any. Scenario: Lethal engagement 7-10 ft. Do you feel the person using a rds is going to need more time to get on the dot? They are already target focused on the threat. Could they not just point. Shoot as well

    • @rdrgear

      Joe. Thanks for this comment. I’m going to run some scenarios. Point, shoot, front site, and rds. Not sure if you are following GBRS group. But there is some legit content on topic
      You are referring to. I will have some new videos that are just kinda shoot the shit. But will be good dialogue for both sides of the topic. Irons and rds thanks again for sparking the thought. Have a great new year.

      @@rdrgear 7-10 feet = shoot from retention. I am good to about 5 yards from retention. I start looking through the sights from 6-10 yds. Hard to explain that as I am looking at the target, but am seeing the sights. My eyes are focused on the target. 10 + yards means front sight focus. The problem with slide mounted RDs is the second shot. I tried a Holosun on a Glock 34 slide. It had a nice big 8 moa circle. I spent too much time finding the dot on the second shot in IDPA. It is not an issue with an USPSA Open gun as the dot is frame mounted and the comp keeps the gun level. I am a Three Gun IDPA Master. I trained LEOs when I lived in Atlanta.

      @@joed3264 7-10 feet from retention? 5yds 15ft why risk it? You have plenty of distance to execute a proper grip.
      Look at target and seeing sights? Well one of the 2 is not in focus and now you have focus on a very small object
      Where with rds all is in focus. Wether that be a LEO or a ccw engagement. If you are target focuses how are you seeing the front sight. To me it sounds like you did not get enough time on the dot to master rds fundamentals. If you truly had a mastery of rds eyes to target dot will be there. With execution of proper reps.
