  • This 15-year-old is one of the founding members of Malaysia's nationwide youth organization named Ascendance. Her talk perfectly encapsulates how one can solve world problems through their careers. She goes through her experience of being a part of her own organization to showcase how even teenagers can dream big and contribute to society. Harsha is a 16 year old social entrepreneur, international conference speaker, trainer, youth influencer, musician and student, *and is one of the founding members of the nationwide youth empowerment organization, Ascendance*. She began her entrepreneurial journey at age 11 with the aim of solving world problems at large starting at everyday scale. To date she has spoken at several international conferences, representing the views of the younger generation and sharing about how everyday people can play a part in solving world problems; most notably at the Global Social Business Summit in the Philippines, as well as being a key-note speaker at the ASEAN Summit for Shared Prosperity and Solidarity and the International Association of Volunteer Efforts (IAVE) Conference. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

I see a lot of comments about this being an inspiring talk, I listened to the end to hear about what the project is. SO far all I've heard is about impact, and results. And its basically a platform. I think I was expecting something tangible.

Then you didn't hear well. The project is called Ascendance. And what's inspiring is that, at 16; she's a jack-of-all-trades. She has a career based on her skills and is contributing towards solving global issues at hand. How many teenagers are doing what she's doing, or better yet how many 20s, 30s, 40s and so forth are impacting the world with their work - not much. Only you can take charge and make it tangible.

    You're a good soldier
    Choosing your battles
    Pick yourself up
    And dust yourself off
And get back in the saddle
    You're on the front line
    Everyone's watching
    You know it's serious
    We are getting closer
    This isn't over
    The pressure's on
    You feel it
    But you got it all
    Believe it
    When you fall
    Get up oh, oh
    If you fall
    Get up eh, eh

    Listen to your God
    This is our motto
    Your time to shine
    Don't wait in line
    Y vamos por todo
    People are raising
    Their expectations
    Go on and feed them
    This is your moment
    No hesitations
    Today's your day
    I feel it
    You paved the way
    Believe it
When you get down get up
    Oh, oh
When you get down get up

I don't think that he or she wanted to be insulting but just wanted to point something out and that's fine (and now I feel bad for getting upset with him or her).
