I always think of the solo button as a way to help make technical decisions, like where to edit or whether there is excessive noise that should be removed. I always try to make artistic decisions in context with the whole song, or at least part of it, like you said. Thanks, Chris!

I guess one drawback of mixing in mono would be if you have multiple tracks that are quite hard panned to the left or right... When summed to mono they would be too quiet so we end up overcompensating and increasing their volume in mono but when we go back to stereo they end up too loud.. which will have to be adjusted again..

Hello! Thanks for the video, always very interesting !!
Is there a difference, instead of using the "gain" plugin in mono, putting the submix in mono with "channel mode"?
(ctrl-click on the stereo icon, then choose Mono, Stereo, Left or Right)
It looks faster and needs no plugins ... 😃

Sometimes its good to knowing too muck, I started like this, mixing in mono and only using the faders, it was hard to make it sound good and now I am starting to use affects and EQ and I must say, when you do not know how to use it well, its easy to mess it all up very quickly and was is a good sound? I love the louder version of your vocals on this one.

Great tips! I don‘t really understand Pt. 5 „Reference“. I would need to find a song that sounds very good to me, e. g. „Niagara Falls“ by Chicago, but it hasn‘t got to do with my song at all. But I don‘t know a song that can be compared with mine. So this tip is quite difficult for me to realize. And do I need a special plugin to compare Original and Reference track with just a click? I have iZotope‘s Nektar 3, Neutron 3 and Ozone 9 which could do that, I think. Which is the easiest way of doing that?

Great question. I too am curious. How can a plug-in produce a good reference point? What magic goes therein?
