It's easy to be bummed about a result not coming to fruition, but that shouldn't diminish all the work you've done. Call it an establishing year, you learned a lot, you created off brand, you've created an esports team, and you've still made stuff that supports communities you love. I genuinely think you're one of the best to ever do it, and I have full faith you'll continue to earn that respect.

Definitely not a failure. There are ups and downs in everyone's careers but it's not the right attitude to call things out of your control a failure. Plus, this year wasn't even a down! You still hosted other events and grew on TH-cam!

    • @KevinLindstromMedia
      @KevinLindstromMedia ปีที่แล้ว +8

True, but I’d definitely say the event was a failure-2023 however, wasn’t. The event only failed because it didn’t happen, even if it’s not really within Luds control. However, I’d say that what Lud is doing is 100% a win. It’s unfortunate that money was lost, but doing the right thing, trying to get sanctioned, and communicating with us about what’s going on makes me respect Lud and what he is doing so much more. I watch because I feel that Lud is a funny guy and I enjoy the stuff that he creates. His honesty and frankness is I think what makes a lot of us like him.
I come from the realm of Downhill MTB and I 100% understand the struggles of getting events sanctioned. Legitimately, USA cycling was only able to put up $350 for the winner at national championships, whereas independently run (but still sanctioned) events were able to give 15k in prize money for 1st place. Navigating this space is a mine field, but to hear that Ludwig is doing things right makes me respect what he is doing even more. And the willingness to put his values ahead of his interests shows they type of person he is.
In content production, I definitely feel that the creator is always the worst critic. And I think the way he is articulating his disappointment shows that. But he’s going for 2024 and I’m so excited for the journey there.

You can tell he's beat up about not delivering this event for his viewers and employees, but nobody is sticking around here because of the big events. I hope he can just chill out and have a good time making less stressful content soon.

The content is still great Lud despite what a loud minority may say: you're doing dope stuff. We enjoy The Yard, Mogul Mail is only getting more high quality as time passes and your TH-cam content on the main channel (while inconsistent) is still genuinely some of my favorite content on TH-cam to this day (and I've been watching for nearly 4 years now). I anticipate chess boxing next year and whatever fun event you host / are a part of next. Being real, your content can occasionally be one of the few times I genuinely laugh in a day so to say the least: we 100% appreciate your content. Keep trying, I'm sure your next big thing will be far bigger than the first chess boxing.

I think you probably get a lot of comments that start with "I don't know if you'll ever read this," so I'll try not to get all parasocial with you and just give you the average take of a totally average guy. I would be lying if I said I keep up with most of the youtube content or even if I said I keep up with the new day-to-day Ludwig main channel videos.
But the events you run are incredible, I've rewatched all of them several times and when a new one is announced I always get excited, waiting in anticipation for a vod or youtube video. They're always incredible, and I think even aside from that, as another commenter said, you're one of the best to ever do it. You have fostered an incredible sense of community and I'm really thankful for your content, I've been with the channel since the early twitch era when the youtube channel was barely approaching 500,000 subs and to think it's a 5 million subscriber empire is pretty crazy to me.
Hope you don't let these setbacks detour you from making more amazing stuff for this community. From one parasocial andy to another, I think you're pretty awesome.

Feel like this is worth mentioning as a life long combat sports fan and practitioner, the reason as to why stuff like Power Slap is allowed under NSAC's supervision is because Dana White, he is their golden child due to the success of the UFC and him having contacts in NSAC all the way to the top. That's the sad reality, it's a monopoly.
And for any non combat sports fans wondering, no one who genuinely cares about combat sports takes that shit seriously.

I have seen hummingbirds flashing like opals round a tree of scarlet blooms, humming like a top.

You should just do Chess Wrestling. It would be some much fun to watch a whole WWE style build-up, entrance, and fight between chess players. They could wear goofy outfits and then they'll just sit there after beating the hell out of each other and play a civil board game.

I appreciate Ludwig taking risks and putting on these kind of events. As a chess player and fan of combat sports I'm a little dissapointed we won't get another one, the last show was just awesome!

You know time flies when it’s about to be a year from that event

Mad respect for cancelling with 3 shitty options that would still allow it to run.

I appreciate you taking the risks of the event so seriously. It's surprisingly easy to not put in all the effort to do things right

Really appreciate the transparency. One positive of moving the event is that the boxing quality would be a lot higher if the current card decides to keep training and partake in the event next year.

I think the solution is simple, turn chess boxing into an olympic event.

I'm seeing a connection between ludwig loosing 100 grand and him entering his 'bag' era with a bunch of sponsors lmao. Don't blame him at all
