this is one of my all time favorite movies. i was rewatching it the night before i started my junior year of high school and was having trouble sleeping with anxiety about school starting the following day. the night i watched it was the same day that robin williams committed suicide. i finally drifted to sleep thanks to the comfort this movie brings but i ended up waking up during the “it’s not your fault” scene. i can admit that i cried like a baby in that moment. hands down my favorite robin williams performance.

Bless your heart!! I don’t know anyone who did not ugly cry, that day! Not one person.

I called my dad and he cried with me. It was not long after(to me), that I lost my own dad; rare form of cancer but personally, he was my own Robin Williams.

Unbelievable that young Ben and Matt wrote the screenplay. The chemistry, the emotion, the characters, the dialogue in this movie, it’s all rock solid. Every actor that was in this movie belonged here, every shot was just right. It’s not the Godfather or whatever people say is true cinema, but it’s just right. Every piece does what it needs to do.
To me, Good Will Hunting is an overwhelmingly earnest movie. It is made to handle emotion and healing with an unbelievably graceful, gentle touch. It is made with overwhelming love, so much so that it’s near physically palpable. The tangibility of this film is measured in the tears you spill watching it.

"maybe you married the wrong woman"
*Maybe you should watch your mouth*
I always loved how quickly and easily Robin delivered that line.

This is a movie that I literally adore ... full of humanity and love ... not just "a movie", but the best food ever for your mind and soul.
And looking at the eyes of Robin Williams you really can see an ocean of love overflowing ... it's something so heart moving, I can't hold back the tears ...

Great stuff! I personally always saw the kaleidoscope intro as his viewpoint on the world, how everything is always broken up into a million different pieces, carefully analyzed to discover the potential risks and dangers. Indeed giving him a reason not to connect.

I just saw this movie for the first time a few days ago. I knew it was a classic, but never got around to seeing it. "They became each other's therapists.... realizing just how damaged they both were." True. It's a piece that so aptly protrays vulerability and pain and mental health with men, particularly a younger man, and an older man, that I think all the world should see - especially for its damaging effect of hiding things and letting them fester, versus trying to make connections with others and start the road to healing and becoming stronger.

Im married now, with a son, and love them both to death, but for my first love, she will allways be the one. We have to take responsability from our own actions.
