I’m pretty critical with movies but found a lot of enjoyment watching it. I feel like walking into the movie expecting the same quality and tone as the first is a mistake. But you could also say the same about making the movie itself. I enjoyed but understand the complaints.
That’s completely understandable. For me, it was entertaining, almost like revisiting the Colosseum, but this time seeing it from new perspectives. While it may have lacked in story, it made up for it with action. The expectations were just so high because of the impact it originally had. - Nate
Having seen the first gladiator, I just couldn’t engage. Everything was pointless and dumb. I tried to make it to at least the water battle in the coliseum, but ended up just leaving after the stupid rhino fight.
I get that. The original Gladiator set such a high bar that it’s tough for anything to measure up. I stuck it out, but I can see how the rhino fight could be a breaking point, it felt more like spectacle for the sake of spectacle. It’s a shame the story didn’t do more to pull you in. - Nate
