    I know this is old but you have to remember, the engine is planning the moves ahead but makes adjustments every time you move a piece. So that's part of why it's so hard to pin down what it will do. Then you have the person controlling the pieces sometimes deciding not to do the best move. So you could've been right when guessing but too many variables.

  • @floretion

    You know what would be a really funny idea? If someone is caught cheating, instead of immediately letting them know they're banned, just let them continue playing but let the opponents know they are about to play against a known cheater and that, for that reason, the best computer moves will be given to the opponent without the cheater knowing. Alternatively, they could automatically pair cheater vs. cheater.

    I don't get what modern day cheaters, who WILL get caught in time think they're gaining.
    Back in the day on Yahoo in early online games, on BBS systems in the 80's, etc. I'd run into cheaters a lot. But the games weren't rated, no one was watching, nothing consequential was happening (it was just not fun and frustrating to see your opponent suddenly morph into an obvious engine with 1000 stronger rating points, and yet unable to articulate ANYTHING meaningful about the position or their moves, when you notice and call them on it.
    But the way people lie and spread FUD on the net, I suppose it's not surprising.

    I’m surprised that there’s always at least a few people in twitch chat on major Copium saying things like “he’s not cheating, maybe he’s just lucky”. Looking at a player’s accuracy alone is enough to justify that someone’s cheating, and yet they still give the benefit of doubt to the cheaters.

    • @huckthatdish
      @huckthatdish 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Accuracy alone from one game isn’t. Insane high accuracy every game is though. But if they make non human moves, take the same time for all moves, and have high accuracy in a game that strongly smells of cheater. But high accuracy in one game with normal time use and findable moves is not solid proof of cheating

He found that his moves are so deep (he managed to draw against him and he report to the tournament organiser that he suspected this one is a cheater) (For information, Wang Tan Yi is the number 1 Chinese chess player currently). The organizer did a search on Wang Tan Yi's opponent and found his micro earphones which prove he is a cheater. It was round 6 already and no one find out about the truth before Wang Tan Yi did it.
