Cooked this on Saturday, had it then,it was really lovely.Ate the remainder tonight, after putting the dumplings in the air frier to crisp up,wonderfull, thank you
These dumplings are delicious! And are my go to now when I do a stew again! Did a beef stew and thought I would do them to go on the top and they were amazing. Light, tasty and so easy to make. Haven’t always got suet in the cupboard so great alternative! Thank you!
I made this for dinner tonight and this is a keeper recipe. The stew was perfect , tender, tasty chicken and vegetables . The dumplings required the use of my broiler and a longer cooking time but were worth having. Thanks for another fine recipe.
Oh this is another winner! I usually use suet in my dumplings but i'm aware of how heavy they feel and taste - this looks a great way to do them. Why plain flour though and not self raising? I can't wait to try this.
Hi Nicky, I just wanted to say thank you for your Dinner book. My husband and I have tried several recipes, and they have all come out really well. We particularly loved the chicken and dumplings. I used tarragon my new favourite herb, and the meal was smashing. The book is fast becoming our go to recipe book. Thanks again all the best
I’ve always been a bit scared of dumplings, but thought these looked easy enough for me. I just made this for tea tonight (New Zealand) and hubby cleared his plate and has seconds lined up for later! He said he wants them on all his stews from now on! Well done, this is a winner!
For a beef stew, use 50/50 ratio of shredded beef suet (Atora in the U.K.) and self raising flour, season, add water for a sticky dough, spoon into the stew and steam with the stew. Completely different consistency to the ones in this recipe but just as delicious and but work for a beef stew.
I made this tonight and was a bit worried from some previous comments, but ignore them this was DELICIOUS!! 😊 and so easy to make! I cooked off the veg and chicken for quite some time with the seasoning before adding the stock, maybe this helped? Will definitely be making again ❤
Well Nicky this is so nice. I made this while my family were at the park its lucky they arrived home when they did because if they hadnt they would have had baked beans for dinner.
Have just copied your recipe nearly to the letter, and it came out absolutely lovely if I say so myself, that's the way I will be cooking stews from now on. Thank you so much ❤
Just got your cook book delivered today , I am soo excited! The QR codes for each recipe is a stroke of genious👌 Currently reading through and working out what to have for the week😁 Worth every penny!
Made this tonight and everyone enjoyed it. Just using this forum to mention that I think there's a mistake in the amount of flour for the dumplings because 240g isn't a cup, it's more like 2. 😅 Thanks for all the great recipes, I love how everything is measured out and I'm enjoying using the book instead of my phone.😊❤
You've gone and done it now, Nikki! My suet dumplings are lovely and fluffy, as I cook them stove top with the lid on the pan, but hubby wants crispy top dumplings, so now I have to make your chicken stew!!!
Hi Nicky, awesome recipe delicious and lovely dumplings I was a bit sceptical about trying the dumplings as I really don’t like the suet ones thank you. Happy new year.
Hi from sunny Sri Lanka Nicky. I am going to try this out with a slight variation (browning the chicken and veggies seperately and then adding the flour and stock. I will let you know how it turns out. Thanks for sharing.
Hiya, just thought I’d pop in to say hello. I’ve been following your channel for ages and love what you do and how you present it! Just ordered your book, finally 😉🤗 from Luxembourg
Great recipe, gonna try. To speed things up even further, I think her dumplings are pretty close to Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuits, which you can buy already mixed, sans cheese, at Walmart and Sams.
Hi Nicky! Over here, we don't eat cheese. We simply dislike it, it's not an allergy thing. For the dumplings, can I just leave out the cheese or will I need a substitute for the purpose of texture?
It would be great if Nicki would do a quick recap of the 5 mother saucess. Mots o f the vids I see are from people not based in the UK and often their quanties and terms are not always clear to me.
If its bland you can increase the salt to 1 tsp. She pretty much does low sodium that I've seen so far. You can also use salted butter in the dough mix. I use more celery and I add a can of peas right before adding the biscuits to mix which also adds flavor.
Suet dumplings, if made correctly are not stodgy but light and fluffy. If your dumplings are stodgy, you are making them incorrectly. Why is 90 minutes so wonderful? If you use a slow cooker with a timer, the time required is at the most 20 minutes.
Yeah,,this is a good winter stew,,,but,,,I am better with my dumplings done the Atora way.I do my dumplings with a dash of herb and chilli and cook them in a seperate sock to be served as a fluffy side dish. Diehards in dirty ugly Ireland would cry at dumplings from an oven. Love the burnt amber look of your tresses. You presented this recipe very well.
You are BY FAR my favourite cookery youtuber
Please keep the classics

Yum! This chicken and dumpling recipe looks perfect!

I cook the chicken carcass for 3 hours and use that as my stock, you have to use a good quality chicken though. But it is delicious 😋
3 hours oh thanks darl I'm trying this method for my next stew 🍲

Looks yummy. Thank you for showing such an easy way to make dumplings. I will make this today ❤
Perfect for a cold winters evening.
Tried this for dinner last night, came out really well! I now have the Kindle version of your book and can't wait to check out other recipes in there.
Defo gonna make that one…thanks Nicky👍🇬🇧

Hi Nicky, awesome recipe delicious and lovely dumplings I was a bit sceptical about trying the dumplings as I really don’t like the suet ones thank you. Happy new year.
This looks so hearty and filling! 🤤 Gotta try it this week

Another simple mind blowing meal very good your husband is a very happy man
Will definitely try this one. I’ve been cooking your Shepherds pie and Chicken Casserole dishes recently. Delicious.
Wow!!! That looks so delicious.
Wow that look amazing! I’ve been making your Tuscan chicken for a couple years now. I’ll definitely be trying this one thank you!!
I make suet puddings, but bake them in the oven on their own, it’s delicious and not at all soggy!
Good morning Nikki, absolutely beautiful and delicious. Such comforting food. Have a super day and thank you for sharing and showing. Kind regards.
Looks amazing ❤
I would have to add swede, it always makes stew extra tasty and leeks
Honestly love it when you do good British food. 🇬🇧🤘🏻
Hiya, just thought I’d pop in to say hello. I’ve been following your channel for ages and love what you do and how you present it! Just ordered your book, finally 😉🤗 from Luxembourg
That looks delicious and amazing. ❤❤😮
I really cannot stand celery is there a substitute I could use??
It’s delicious! A big thumbs up from us 👍
That does look delicious!
Made this last night, the dumpling mixture is the perfect accompaniment. Thickened the stew up a little with slurry perfect. Thank you
That looks amazing!😃👍🏼
That looks so lovely, I wish I could eat gluten. I wonder if this would work using gluten free flour?
How are you still tiny with the way you cook is beyond me..definitely one to try. Thank you🙏
Great recipe, gonna try. To speed things up even further, I think her dumplings are pretty close to Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuits, which you can buy already mixed, sans cheese, at Walmart and Sams.
No, the Red Lobster ones are way more flavourful. I’d go with them as this is so bland.

Wowowoowow chef delish respic
Could you still make the dumplings without cheese?
I used 5 cubes of chicken stock with 1.5 litres water and it turned out quite salty , did I do anything wrong?
The stodgy suet dumplings are the best
Cant believe I've never thought of adding cheese to dumplings 😳 Definitely going there next time I'm making stew
I love you video ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
Girl, that looked good enough to eat
A classic American comfort food recipe
I make soup all year
190C 375F What about the gas?
chicken liver gizzard and intestines tasty for me
😻😻😻😻😻
It looks delicious but I still wouldn’t eat chicken stew fur sum reason ma taste buds don’t approve
We found this very bland unfortunately. It needs something but I’m not sure what.
If its bland you can increase the salt to 1 tsp. She pretty much does low sodium that I've seen so far. You can also use salted butter in the dough mix. I use more celery and I add a can of peas right before adding the biscuits to mix which also adds flavor.
@@mariecook7910 I did add more salt and it was still super bland. It’s just not for me, this one.
@@river8760 some are not for everyone lol
