Are you a beginner guitar player? Learn how to play an A major open chord in this tutorial. Tip: The easiest way is to use three fingers.
So let's talk about A major. A major is an open chord. First you're gonna put your first finger on the 4th string, 2nd fret. And then you're gonna use your 2nd finger, your middle finger, to play the 3rd string, 2nd fret. And then your ring finger, your 3rd finger, we're gonna put that on the 2nd string, 2nd fret. And that's it, there you go, A major. Right, so when you strum it you want to try and avoid this 6th string. That's not supposed to be in there. But if you do that's okay. A major, right? Now sometimes you might watch some people play and they may make A differently, you know? Uh, for instance I tend to play it with two fingers. Some people play it with just one. But the easiest, most basic way to play A major is just with your three fingers like this. That's how you play A major.

Why would you avoid the 6th string? It's an E note the same as the 1st string, and gives the chord a fuller sound, in my opinion. Personally I use my 2nd, 3rd and 4th fingers to play an open A, because (a) that finger group is slightly smaller and fits into the fret space more easily, and (b), it leaves my index finger free to change more easily to other chords, especially bar (barre) chords.

When another note becomes a lower pitch than the root, it's called an inversion. It would no longer be just an A major it would be A/E

All basic guitar techniques are the same for acoustic and electric (there are specific techniques you want to know for either though). Acoustics usually have thicker Gauged strings making them slightly harder to play.

I will never understand why Howcast is still a thing. E-How, etc. These are hands-down the worst tutorials on the internet, especially for aspiring musicians. Who the F--K plays an A major chord like that???? NO ONE
