- How to Delete NVIDIA Cache and RESTORE Performance // Resolve odd stuttering, color distortion issues and restore your NVIDIA performance by deleting the NVIDIA Cache. This quick and easy guide can address your NVIDIA graphics performance in moments. Are the colors or shaders inaccurate? Did you overclock your PC and it crashed due to unstability? Maybe your PC Blue screened in the middle of a game or app and now everything looks strange? No problem. This video has been updated and incorporates some changes based on NVIDIA's new driver release R550 starting with 551.23.
If you're also looking to gain a bit more responsiveness, I'll add an additional bonus to go over some settings you can change in Windows Defender. These will cover the files and folders cached by NVIDIA and Windows DirectX shaders. Heck, I'll also show you how you can add your games or apps if you want to as well!

A bad overclock prompted me to make this video. Updated for 551.23. Hope this helps someone out!
You got stutters in games with that bad overclock or it was just crashing? And what is your gpu?
@@Bazo246 An overclock was set too high and corrupted textures. You can replicate it sometimes with Cinebench 2024. Lowering the OC plus clearing the cache fixed it for me. If I didn’t clear the cache, Cinebench would finish too fast and in my case, contained green images instead of grey images.
Mine says "Opening these files can harm your computer" when I try to delete. What do I do? Do I just go delete them or nah?
I followed the steps in the video, when I got the warning that I couldn't delete the files that were in use, I closed the programs that used them until the point where I couldn't delete some. I activated the cache, installed new drivers, and when I restarted and entered a game I got a couple of artifacts, without panicking I passed ddu, clean installation of the same drivers that I had downloaded, and no more artifacts, I guess something was corrupted between the process of clearing the cache and installing the new drivers, never before the process, and after using ddu artifacts appeared again, I passed superposition benchmark a couple of times and everything was fine. Even so, now I am left with a feeling of fear that it may have been a warning of something worse.
Saved to my tweaks folder. Thank you.
I had just bought and installed a new graphics card and experienced wierd flickering in some games, things just weren't as perfectly smooth as I had expected. I wasn't aware that old cache files could be the culprit but after following the advice in this video that seems to have been the case as everything seems back to normal now, tyvm :).
Absolutely amazing video... Way ahead and geeky with pro changes, compared to other TH-camrs just showing the basic switch toggles..
Thank you very much. I appreciate it!
@@Davefinito If I don't use Windows Defender I don't need to do the last part of the video right?
@NeverTrustGovrnmentOrGlobalist the last part doesn’t need to be done if you don’t use Defender. With that said, you can check task manager to confirm components like the Defender antispyware app msmpeng.exe aren’t randomly scanning. It should be obvious within task manager - details - msmpeng.exe CPU utilization. If it’s in use, then you may need to apply the powershell script. Also, the directories in the script can be used with other AVs. Implementation is at your discretion.
I hope this helps.
Should I upgrade to rtx 2070 super? Currently the driver is 537.58

thanks mate
There is no NVIDIA folder for me, only NVIDIA corporation. I am on Windows 10, what should I do?
Did you ever test before and after the dx/nvidia caches under exclusions? :) do you notice the performance change?
nice one
2:34 i cant do this because it says "the action cannot be completed because the folder or a file in it is open in another program", how do I fix it?
There's an app using one or more cache files. Make sure all apps are closed and retry. After reboot, try to remove again. If it's still in use, then this typically implies that a Windows app is using D3D cache. Generally speaking, you can move forward and leave the file(s) alone.
You can also add explorer, and dwm.exe to nvidia control panel for best performance of your system :)
thx :D
i dont have a glcache folder but i had the other file in locallow idk where this thing is lol
\AppData\LocalLow\NVIDIA\PerDriverVersion
Pastebin not working :((
the pastebin.com website is down. Seems like it’s down for a day now. I may need to find an alternative like GitHub, though it’s not as friendly to navigate for most people.
It’s online again
There is no nvidia control panel
That's means you don't have Nvidia or just install a Game Ready Driver from Nvidia Website and choose your graphics card if ONLY YOU HAVE A NVIDIA GRAPHICS CARD.
And install it
If you don’t have the nvidia control panel then you obviously don’t have a nvidia G-force ready monitor so you’ll probably have to download it
why we dont reinstall windows and done xD
Reinstalling Windows should be a last resort. Spending a few minutes is better than hours.
