Because they're known for their sense of humor, a lot of people miss just how *good* Tenacious D is.
Jack Black doesn't get enough credit for how good his voice is. Massively underapperciated
He does have a Grammy.
Massively??? Lol. So woke.
Weird Al anyone? Stephen Lynch anyone? There's a theme here. Comedy musicians are regularly overlooked because by nature of their work no one takes them seriously. In the case of Stephen Lynch it took him dominating on Broadway for some recognition.
His Dio cover 👌
@@PaulyV56 woke? you’re embarrassing
Kyle's playing is brilliant on this track.
Jack's is better 👀
wtf is not the same a singer and a guitarist stop silly comparison; both are marvelous
@@davidalvarezgarcia3784 that joke went way over your head.
@@insertgenericusernamehere2402 Because your aim is horrible.
Every track!
I think what carried this cover for me was not the voice, which, although brilliant, was vastly overshadowed by Kyle's breathtaking interpretation of the melody on guitar. the dynamic and precision of these admittedly simple runs was just so inspiring.
Agree. Kyle played it well and clean when he was out there naked and alone. Sometimes I hypnotize myself when I get it right and it sounds good - and then I screw up because I lose my concentration.
Kyle is massively looked over. He is an amazing guitarist
This tiny clip is as much of a tease as Howard Jones singing "simple man"
Both need full versions as they are just fantastic!
I went and listened to the Howard Jones clip because of your comment. It sucked.
I couldn't agree more. People don't realise that in order to be funny with music and singing, you have to be actually _REALLY_ good at it. One of my all-time favourites is Victor Borge, who was known for playing hilarious piano skits where he'd play a song, then suddenly realise he was playing the piece backwards or had the music sheet upside-down or played all the right notes, just not in the right order. The man was an absolute genius and magician with a piano and not enough people realised the man's true talents to pull such skits off so flawlessly.

Congratulations! That's so exciting
I already follow you on Spotify.❤
I've said for a long time that your speaking voice alone is wonderful for audio books. It's such a positive tone. This cover is fantastic! I can't stop myself from suggesting some minor notes thrown in for a haunting sound. Your tone would be perfect for that. Maybe just you and a piano with a haunting melody, and some reverb. In my head it sounds wicked
Just being honest. I just listened to your version.
Jack does it better than you. Unedited, non-soundboard refinement and more representative of the original. “What a wicked thing to say”, I know. But true. Sorry
That was an awesome cover, I looooved the ambience and such a gorgeous voice!
Kyle is a melody machine. They have so much chemistry being friends of course, but Kyle taught Jack most of what he knows playing guitar. Maybe singing too but I’ve never heard either say that.
Yeah man. Those cock pushups really came in handy as well
They just nailed it! I thought they would make fun of this imo great song! But they made it even more special, they made it even more great!
I truly deeply want a full version!
Wicked Game is probably one of my favorite songs ever and I've yet to hear a bad cover to it. (one day that could change, but who knows?) I'm convinced it's so perfect that it's impossible to do a bad one, unless you actually try really hard to mess it up.
I'm so in love with this rendition, the only real negative is how painfully short it is. I need it to be longer. I need this.
I need a full version as well. Jack has such a pitch perfect voice for it. And he clearly understands and respects the emotion as well as Chris Isaak. You can tell he is a sincere fan. (Chris Isaak is my favorite singer of all time btw.)
I could listen to @BethRoars talk about singing all day. Such a insightful explanation.
I cannot express how much rent free time this cover gets in my head and how badly I want a much longer version
What i like about her over other reaction channels is she walks you through the movement of the vocals instead of just saying how well the singer is.
It's just gorgeous. Absolutely need the entire thing, Jack!!
Your cover was amazing! Love the reaction too!
Love this video, you can see how proud kage is of his friend hitting those notes
As much as I appreciate other versions I'm still hooked on Chris Isaak's angst-driven original with its haunting rockabilly vocal and guitar overtones...
Former Three Days Grace singer Adam Gontier performed this song too and his interpretation was kind of like denying rather than like the original which sounds very sexy and romantic, Adam was singing from a place of denial and not wanting that love because of reluctance to accept his love.
While I wasn't a huge fan of Jack's comedy, he's an outstanding singer and incredibly talented. Like another poster mentioned, your rendition is heart-wrenchingly good!
We need a Tenacious D cover of "Hello Darkness, my old friend."
Yes that would be mentle
Jack Black's cover of Let's Get it On at the end of High Fidelity was amazing too
KG is the man!!
The Rage Cage
The solo man 5000
They are both massively talented ❤
the greatest duo in music. Period.
underrated vocalist because he mostly jokes around but he is excellent.
Jack is one of the best rock stars. His voice is incredible
Ha, I knew you would react to this, nice! :)
For the record I checked out your cover and thought you did a great job of it. You definitely did it credit. Just as Jack and Kyle do in theirs. Tenacious D is the most underrated band in history.
I WANTED TO HEAR MORE ,I LOVE THAT SONG.
PLEASE check out HIM’s cover of Wicked Game. There’s a great live version on the Digital Versatile Doom set and Ville Valo’s vocals are amazing ❤️
So hyped to see the D play in Sydney in July 🔥🔥
Una canción clásica y bonita bien Beth 👏👏🍀🍀 bella P.RR..
Probably wont see this but I hope you do for music's sake... check out HIM - Wicked Games.. another cover of the song but it is sooooo good 👌 kind of like a soft metal version of it, you'd be impressed with his singing ❤
Nice, I quite like the understatedness you mentioned, present both here and in your own cover. You absolutely need to check out Violet Orlandi's "Wicked Game" cover, it is perhaps my favorite version of the song, including the original. Her take is different in that it is very dramatic and evokes a sense of desperation that is only hinted at in most other versions.
The only thing I wish is that the song was longer. I WANT MORE CAUSE ITS SO GOOD
Very nice to hear this song with Jack Black's voice.
Makes the cover of that song so special.
Great musicians aren't always funny. But funny musicians are almost always great.
What type of camera do you use? Love your review!
Why has no one suggested the cover of the Beatles melody from Abby road.
amazing!
I love how loyal Jack Black has stayed to Kyle Gass after his career has progressed so far.
about what you said with changing from chest tone to head tone. on the note before the change, i found it's easiest and sounds best if you channel a little bit through your nose so the head note changes without the cracking and rasping
It's Kyle Gass not glass...aka rage kage
Don´t forget the 3/10 of a second of falcetto in the beginning of every "I".
That is way more important then the breathing coming in to that sentence.
Jack knows this and gets it right.
Jack Black is an amazing singer. Tenacious D is an awesome band. Their far from a gimmick. Songwriting and music is top notich.
100% spot on about the technique when switching to falsetto
Tenacious D is looked at as a goof band but they are really awesome. Jack Black has a great voice and Kyle is a great guitar player
They *are* a goof band. They admit to that themselves, they've said in interviews that Tenacious D can never be a serious band. However, it's hard to be good goof band without also being very good musicians, because you have to have a really good understanding of what you're doing to be able to make it funny. And Tenacious D is a *very* good goof band.
God! Your hair is gorgeous!
Watching the official video has been clinically proven to extend your life span.
Jables and Rage Cage are once in a millennia melding of talent. Period.
They even have a ballad written about them.
I heard on interview on Elen he said he got told he could make it has a singer. So went to actoring. Made his name & used his platform to start his singing career. Well he proved them wrong.
Would love to see you react to theory of a deadman's cover of wicked game. They're one of my favourite bands and would be a great first song for you to react to by them, given your own amazing cover
Jack has perfect pitch. He is gifted
Wow...... it took some juevos for him to tackle a song like this. That is INSANE!
KG always kills it.
Awesome, now, please react to HIM's version of the song, or HIM's songs in general and Placebo Pls 😢
YES!!!
I've been begging for vocal coaches to react to HIM for years!!
Most people underappreciate Jack Black because he does a lot of goofy and over the top stuff. But he is truly talented and has a very good voice.
I feel like I've walked past you in Glasgow City centre at some point in life lol. Such a familiar face. Probably haven't, and it's just hearing the familiar accent kick in at the beginning of the video and your Scottishness shining through to me XD
Jack Black is brilliant and so is Kyle they are so entertaining and fun to listen and watch❤
Finnish band HIM did a very good cover of this Song to. It's has a darker ton. Like it. Like this to.
jack is awesome, so versatile.
I really love the tom ellis version in lucifer
People can’t simply grasp how amazing his voice is due to the fact that he such a great actor as well.
I love the original so much but there version is completely awesome I love it it's on my Playlist
Totally agree that it's legit for different people to think of things differently, but I would like to articulate why "breathe into the belly" makes sense despite the anatomical inaccuracy.
When I sing, I use my abdominal muscles to drive exhalation and to support my breath column. Breathing in "into the belly" is the exact same thing in reverse. Doesn't matter that only a small fraction of my torso is actually housing my lungs - what I'm doing is expanding and contracting my overall abdomino-thoracic volume, and my abdomen is the best place to do that (though I do also expand my chest).
You should check out Diana Ankudinova's version of wicked games. She is contralto and it is amazing.
He's no Beth! But ya, these guys are def really talented at both music and comedy.
JB is a prodigy
Kyle is an awesome guitarist and Jack is a phenomenal singer..TD forever! ❤
Super!
Speaking of aged, warmth in a voice. Have you heard any of the Incubus Morning View XXIII songs yet? Brandon Boyd's voice has definitely gained some warmth over the years
My Favorite cover of this song is by H.I.M.
I'm glad he took this seriously.
❤ Jack Black, his songs hold me, when I was younger. One of the best’s. ❤
HIMs version is still the best, tbh. But this one is real nice, too.
of course he can control his airflow. the man invented inward singing.
You should do a reaction video of Josh Krajcik - The first time ever I Saw your face.
He is incredible.!
Jack Black's tribute cover of Dio's Last In Line is amazing.

We need another tenacious d movie
I think people often underestimate Jack Blacks talents cause he is always this goofy guy who does a lot of crazy nonsene. It is the same with Seth McFarlane, he has an incredible voice but most people thinking of him as "the guy who does Family Guy"
i love isaac, i love H.I.M, i love tenacious d
5:40 intentional note?
Speaking of good musicians and comedy, not sure if you have checked out Flight of the Conchords. Very, very funny songs, but also performed very well.
You need to react to that song he sings with Jimmy Fallon Mrs. Roars 😊
Jack Black doing War Pigs on a late show tv program. Best vocal cover I've heard even with the playfulness he throws in
Jack Black is one of the few people in the Hollywood machine who demonstrates empathy and sincere joy. Additionally, he is extremely musically talented.
he crushed this song
Please do this one : Dr Hook & The Medicine Show - "Carry Me, Carrie" From Shel´s Houseboat!
I love the Tenacious D version of the song. I also love this couple's cover of the song: th-cam.com/video/6ANvZip3y3Y/w-d-xo.html
my favorite version of wicked game was performed on the voice of Germany. A female contestant sang it quite well, then one of the coaches confessed that it was his favorite song and delivered a breathtaking rendition of it. The whole clip is on youtube. th-cam.com/video/Y7Ic3K_Z-7Q/w-d-xo.html Please react to that :)
He's almost got a late johnny cash edge to his voice these days. But his strength and range is god like. Legend!
I saw you in the crowd on Britain's got talent.
Wasn't me :)
Your insights are sublime
We are here to listen to the band. Shhhhhhhhh
Nice..
Goddamn that guitar is CWISP
when a comedian sings....he has an advantage due to the suprise
It's a great cover and the video is hilarious.
Personally I still prefer Stone Sours/ Corey Taylor's cover (although he's not going to the really high note) but that's probably because Coreys voice is just my favorite of all.
I have always love Jack Black he is a legend
I am so sad you didn't watch the video with them frolicking in the water :D
