Yeah. That's one issue that will arise later. I lived in DTLA and the landlord that came in after a property management company change told me he came from transitional apartments like these, and many previous 'houseless' would not leave the squalor they lived in streets with and recreated homeless like environments IN nice new income restricted government apartments. I couldn't believe it but he was adamant about what he had experienced. 'Pigeons?!?! Nooo...' 'yes, I'm serious' 'get out of here!'.

$600,000.00 a unit for a total of 278 units. That is $166,800,000.00!?!?! The new "homeless" residents did not pay for that but the California tax payer did. Yet ANOTHER reason why my taxes where so high over the last few years. Has there been ANY thought about handling the drug problem that many of these homeless individuals have and the potential for drug trafficking, sex trafficking and the gang violence that comes from that? It is amazing how drugs, gangs and violence can turn this $166,800,000.00 tax payer dream to help the homeless into a tax payer funded nightmare. Did Maxime Waters or the mayor of LA mention ANYTHING about that?

That's cheap for LA. Yes, they said they would have services for drug addicts, and yes, they said there would be extra security for all of the problems that come from housing the mentally ill, impoverished, and drug addicted. I don't know- would you rather have homeless encampments all over or buildings like this on skid row? I don't think there is an easy solution to the problem, and all solutions are going to be expensive. The taxpayer has to subsidize the system, because private enterprise will not step up to the plate. Otherwise we will all be living surrounded by homeless encampments, because we didn't want to be taxed to fund mental institutions and drug rehab centers and did away with them in the 1980s under Reagan. It's more expensive to house them in prisons in the long run- $132,860 per year per inmate.

Homelessness is a complicated problem that involves so much that to begin to tackle it requires focusing on one thing at a time step by step. If they dont, the politicians will not and the constituents do not demand it LA will be sacrificing so many people. A tower to house 278 people? In a city where the homeless population is from 60,000-80,000? Not very serious are they

You have to remember that California income is much higher as are its prices. This is why many leave that place to live elsewhere because of the high taxes as well. It's just one of those places that have been gentrified to the core. This is why you get the most expensive cities to live in the country stuff. The unit looks like bachelor size as well so they're small, not even 1 bedroom. I think the pricing is high because the included amenities are pricey itself. Metal microwave, metal fridge, electric stove range, etc. Those are not the cheap plastic-types.
