- Hampi, located in Karnataka, India, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its rich history and architectural marvels. It was the capital of the Vijayanagara Empire from 1336 to 1565 and is renowned for its vast ruins that include temples, palaces, and market streets. Hampi is situated near the Tungabhadra River and is spread over 4,100 hectares, showcasing more than 1,600 remains of Hindu temples, forts, and other structures. The site is significant for its historical and cultural heritage, reflecting the grandeur of the last great Hindu kingdom in South India.
The name Hampi is derived from the old name of the Tungabhadra River, Pampa, and it has a deep connection with Hindu mythology, particularly the Ramayana and the Puranas. Hampi's Virupaksha Temple, an active place of worship, is among its most notable monuments. The city was a prosperous, wealthy, and grand city known for its architecture and was considered one of the world's largest cities and probably India's richest during its peak. However, after the defeat by a coalition of Muslim sultanates in 1565, Hampi was abandoned and left in ruins.
Today, Hampi's ruins are a testament to its historical significance, attracting scholars, tourists, and pilgrims. The site includes various architectural and cultural attractions, such as the Virupaksha Temple, the Krishna Temple, and the Vittala Temple, showcasing the Vijayanagara Empire's advanced urban planning, architecture, and artistry. Hampi continues to be an important site for archaeological studies and conservation efforts, offering insights into India's rich past and cultural heritage.

This is the ruins of the Imperial Capital of the Vijayanagara Empire, that is the 'City of Victory', Vijayanagara from the 1370s to 1565. The City was the largest city in the world (many recent studies are now saying larger than Beijing). The core urban area was 45km2 but the Metropolitan Area was 180km2 with a population of around 1 million people. The Imperial Palace was massive comples of about 0.5km2 in size. The City had 7 rings of fortifications with the innermost fortification marking the Royal Enclosure.
The City had several districts. Each district had a main temple at the centre, with a water reservoir, and a bazaar. For example, Hampi Suburb had Virupaksha Temple, Vitthalapura had Vijaya Vitthala Temple, Krishnapura had Balakrishna Temple, Kamalapura had Pattabhirama Temple. The Outer Suburbs included smaller walled townships like Malpanagudi, Santhanur, and Hosapete. Hosapete was one of the last suburbs built (by Emperor Krishnadevaraya in 1520s) where a new Imperial Palace was built along with the massive but incomplete Ananthashayanagudi Temple.
The City had very wide highways and roads. The Virupaksha Bazaar and Achyutyaraya roads were 30metres wide, Vitthala Bazaar Road was 40m wide, and the Krishna Bazaar road and the the highway linking the North-East of the City with Hosapete to the South-West were both 50m wide.
The Imperial Palace was described by foreign travellers from Europe to be larger than entire cities like Lisbon. The Palace had several royal apartments, an administrative complex, a noblemans complex, and a ceremonial complex as well several smaller temple complexes, warehouses, gardens and stables. There is an Olympic sized swimming pool where the members of the Royal family would sit in little boats and squirt waters and colours during Holi festival.
The city was described by travellers from Europe, Persia, the Middle East and North Africa to be the best provided city in the world. The Bazaars were packed with people and carriages, goods from all across Asia, Europe and East Africa. There were diamonds and other gems and jewellery being sold on the streets. (The Vijayanagara Empire had a complete monopoly on the World's diamond supply back then). The City had a very advanced water management system which in some part still survives today. Surrounding the city was a complex canal irrigation system as well as Aqueducts (like the surviving 14th century Bukka Raya Aqueduct), and large reservoirs like the massive surviving Kamalapura Lake. Most of the houses were single story buildings made of bricks and wood with tiled roofs or flat roofs. Within the city walls were many gardens and even some land for agriculture and orchards.
Bt it's look like Chinese undeveloped village

It was definitely the invading Islamic Turkic colonisers (Deccan Sultanates as well as other Sultnates) who destroyed the city of Vijayanagara, and many other cities across India (like Indraprastha, Mulasthana, Lavapuri, Varanasi, Mathura, Kanyakubja, Kharjuravahaka, Dharanagara, Ujjaini, Vidisha, Pataliputra, Nalanda, Somapura, Karnasuvarna, Vikramashila, Vikramapur, Gauda, Mahotsavanagara, Sthaneshwara, Ajayameru, Kiradu, Avantipura, Ayodhya, Prayaga, Arthuna, Anahilapataka, Somnath, Karnavati, Siddhapur, Bodhgaya, Sihoniya, Tattandapura, Devagiri, Seunapura, Khidrapur, Warangal, Chandragiri, Vijayapura, Dwarasamudra, Bidar, Kalyani, Madurai, Srirangam, Cholapuram etc) during their 4 centuries of tyrannical colonial rule. The amount of destruction these invaders did was akin to what the Mongols did in China, Iran and Iraq.
It was destroyed by Islamists only !!!
even prophet mohammad razed the temple of kaaba, hinduism is religion of brahman, which is A-brahaman, opposite of abrahmic religion
