Well said! We all know what the situation in Nigeria is with leadership and the economy, including the British people. Like you said and which the British journalist pointed out in the video, the British people are looking at their interests on the African continent, and they know no one can dispute the fact that Nigeria is a major player in the West African region and on the continent and you must have her as an ally. So when she becomes the UK Prime Minister, how does she intend to sustain that relationship when she has been working hard to destroy the bridge with her commentaries. That is what the British people are interested in, they don't give 2 cents about her growing up experiences, that's her cup of tea. She should learn to stick to the issues that concern Britain because she's British and wants to lead the British people.
If shes lying and defaming Nigeria them point out her lies or take her to court. People are entitled to the truth, and trying to force someone to lie or to keep quiet is never the right thing to do. Why are people so afraid of the truth?
Is it the truth that armed robbery takes place in Lagos all the time? Is it true that the police steals from people all the time? These are the impressions she gave. Agreed. Motives aside, are her statements true on the face of it? Her experience is her experience and I for one share them. Let everyone be free to express their opinion if yours is contrary then present them. But no silencing, let the woman speak!
@ Yes she is free to express her opinion but her opinion must reflect reality. There are bad people everywhere and even in London. I have been living in UK since 1992. I have had my flat bugled and most of my CDs stolen but won’t say that my experience is that burglary is the order of the day. I know people who have suffered serious racism in this country but it would be wrong to say that there is racism everywhere. She was suggesting that the British police was perfect. We all know that this not the case. Some police men have been convicted with robbery, rape and drug dealing here in UK. She just bad mouthed Nigeria. I rejoiced when she and other Nigerian borne MPs were elected. As a Consultant working in NHS, I have seen a lot in UK. So many good things and some bad things too. I am very proud of Nigeria even though we have many problems.
In reality, Kemi have never attacked or condemn any Nigerian politician. Her focus has been to use our challenges as a country to denigrate us. Even in the UK where she's a party leader mass shootings, phone snatching and all sorts of crimes happen there predominantly. There's no country without a challenge and Nigeria isn't an exception. Announcing that you have a problem isn't a solution to it. What's Kemi's contribution to Nigeria progress? Nothing. She went to a heavily subsidised school in Nigeria especially at that time she lived in Nigeria, Nigeria was significantly a socialist state.
Although it was in military rule, Kemi GREW UP ( or spent her childhood, and teenage years) in Nigeria...and has her NIGERIAN experiences. So she can talk if her experiences, especially since many things have not changed significantly!! We Nigerians of MY GENERATION understand her very well. Sunak did NOT grow up in India. He did not stay and LIVE in India for a long while. Her statements are TRUE and we needed someone to "provoke" greedy Nigerian politicians to SIT UP! Our politicians NEED a high profile "Nigerian" to provoke this kind of discussion. And fix our country!!
I'm sorry, but she is trying to become the Prime Minister of the UK and will defend the UK's interests against any other country (including Nigeria). If she wanted to change her country, she should have stayed there. Many Western leaders say one thing and do the opposite, especially against Africans. (Will she sacrifice the UK's interest for Nigeria's if she becomes prime minister? No!)
I am Nigerian as well and I don't agree with you. She said she does not want to identify as a Nigerian but she conveniently talks about Nigeria in a condescending manner. Let her leave Nigeria for us that want to identify as Nigerians.
I disagree. She may have grown up but at one point she lied about her upbringing to win favor of conservatives and she has stated that she was British and not Nigerian. Then there is the time where she justified British imperialism, there has to be better Nigerians in British politics who address the issues with that country without disrespecting it
She exaggerated the negatives about Nigeria and refused to mention anything positive about Nigeria. Is it the truth that armed robbery takes place in Lagos all the time? Is it true that the police steals from people all the time? These are the impressions she gave. Is it not true that she received a good education in Nigeria. Is it not true that Nigerians are very hardworking and ambitious? Is it not true that most of her so called wonderful character and personality were formed in Nigeria? Did she say any of these? Nigeria is supposed to be a low hanging fruit for her. But no, she will rather belittle us before the entire world than see what she could do to help smooth the diplomacy between the 2 nations. Funny thing Britain needs all the friends she could get. She's no longer in the EU and in global commerce you could hardly point at one thing in a vast developing country like Nigeria that comes from England. I thought all leaders in such a scenario would be at the forefront of looking for solutions for Britain instead of making needless trouble?
Rishi Sunak or Priti Patel never grew up in India, and that's where the difference is. Kemi is simply expressing the reality of the atrocities going on where she grew up, and that's only fair.
Kemi is a self-hater. She will soon learn she can't become the PRIME MINISTER OF BRITAIN by bashing Nigeria at every given media opportunity. She's an embarrassment. She needs to hear those British journalists' review of her. The woman is crazy 🤪
Sunak and Patel were born in England and have never lived in the country of their parents so it wouldn’t be that easy for either of them to comment on the leadership in those countries. Kemi Badenoch although born in the UK, lived most of her formative years in Nigerian and didn’t even realise that she had the right to live in the UK until she was in her teens. When she found out she could live in the UK she moved. Some of her reasoning for moving (based on what she has stated in various interviews), was the chaotic environment, the poor leadership and the numerous internal ethnic tensions. Her experiences do not appear to have been that good and she has always been consistent in her responses in this regard and she hasn’t said anything that we do not already know. And, unless I am mistaken, telling the truth / facts from your perspective cannot be classed as denigrating your country, particularly when millions of Nigerians in the diaspora have the same experiences and worst. The impression that I had was that she found it very hard in Nigeria and as soon as she had the opportunity to leave, she was off. What the President / deputy, of Nigeria should do is listen to what she has said and try to make positive change that will make Kemi say “Things are now changing in Nigeria”, but he will not. The fact that Nigeria is a fairly fast growing economy, is remarkable given the chaos. Nigeria and its people are remarkable, but the leadership is and has for a long time been poor.
She is damn right, well done👏 Nigeria and Ghana have been led by the worst leaders in recent times; hence the dismal state of their economies in spite of their very rich natural resources and manpower. My goodness! Unless African leaders start to humbly accept criticism of their bad, selfish and corrupt leadership, African countries will forever remain at the bottom of progress. Any one who attacks Kemi's constructive criticism, is an enemy of African progress.
Right on what when it's same Britian that has put leaders they can manipulate in power to make sure their agenda is been carried out . What have you done to better your own country in a little way apart from criticism?? Kemi can critizes but procure and be a part of the solutions.
While the things Kemi said, does happen (and not peculiar to Nigeria), do you truly think her statements and the manner of delivery is hurting and shaming the Nigerian leaders or hurting and shaming ordinary Nigerian citizens?
Criticism, when constructive, can serve as a catalyst for reflection and improvement. Badenoch's remarks are aimed at highlighting areas where Nigeria needs to improve, they can inspire action rather than being dismissed outright. There’s room for improvement in Nigeria.
I support Kemi when it comes to talking about Nigeria period. You guys are complaining because you do not know how bad it is in Nigeria. Nigeria's vice president is what she says he is, a terrorist.
what does that have to do with her political career in the UK? how is her talking about the problems in Nigeria in the way and manner she did help better your life or mine as Nigerians ? . Look perception is very important in today's digital village. People across the world don't travel to Nigeria to know about Nigeria, they only learn about Nigeria through media and when people like Kemi say the kind of things they say, it will not matter whether she is saying the truth, What will matter is the perception or impression that they will have in their mind about the country Nigeria. If she does not want to identify as a Nigerian, let her focus on her political career and leave Nigeria alone.

2 things can be true. That Kemi was completely correct in her statements about the appalling leadership in Nigeria and maybe she could have phrased it better because she is after all in politics. I think in this moment were parts of Africa are turning against the west the western system would have liked her to help them maintain access to africa and its resources through diplomacy. It appears now that wont be the case so she no longer has value to the system.

Is it not true that she received a good education in Nigeria. Is it not true that Nigerians are very hardworking and ambitious? Is it not true that most of her so called wonderful character and personality were formed in Nigeria? Did she say any of these. Nobody is disputing that but I laugh 😂 do u think she said all that cos she cared it's all a political strategy , to win the heart her masters by acting all anti Nigerian before their eye .
I think Kemi just wants the politicians to be better. I honestly think if they were good she will say it too.
Kemi is already politically finished in the UK.

Kemi has already failed as a leader, God help Great Britain if she becomes the prime minister

It's a shame when are we going to wake up
Criticism, when constructive, can serve as a catalyst for reflection and improvement.
