  • In this video I will be upgrading my old Winegard Sensar "Batwing" style antenna to a new King Jack OA8500 antenna with optional signal finder. This is a great upgrade for most RV's and in my case brought better reception and a much sleeker, always up profile. This antenna is also much less likely to leak water in to your RV. If you are replacing an old crank up antenna and have a rubber roof, King recommends that you also install the optional mounting plate. Paid Amazon Links to both items are below.

Great instructional video. Loved it! Changing out the old batwing, but was not sure what I was getting into exactly. Your directions were very precise and you sold me on getting the King Jack model 088500. Thanks tremendously for your thorough instructions!

Why did you choose not to just replace the Winegard antenna head with the Jack head less base (OA8300). You would gain antenna height which many say the higher the better?

Because the winegard bases are known to leak eventually and mine was broken anyway. With the complete retrofit there are no complicated moving parts to fail or leak. You don't need the few feet of antenna height, trust me.

So you didn't need to take the Winegard power injector out and replace it with the king jack one? I read that the 2 where not compatible
