She & Marvin were deeply in love; Marvin not heard from for 6 months after her death. In the '60s hearing them sing to and with each other made my BOOMERS melt away at their beauty and love.

@@Dion_Mustard Diana Ross didn't steal the limelight from Tammi Terrell. You were NOT born in this era, so you know NOTHING about the artists. You are quoting gossip. Tammi Terrell was signed to Motown Records in 1965. She had a minor hit in 1966 "Come On And See Me." Paired with Marvin Gaye in 1967, their first hit was "Ain't No Mountain High Enough." They were very SUCCESSFUL for two years; Miss Terrell's illness began. That's what stopped her. Diana Ross had nothing to do with Miss Terrell's career. If you knew anything about Motown Records, you would know of five subsidiary labels, with great artists on ALL of them. The Supremes (Diana Ross) wasn't the only artists on the label. Got it? Do research before you tell stories you know nothing about.
Mary Wells was "Motown's First Lady" between 1962-1964. She was headliner for The Motortown Revues. The Supremes, yes, DIANA ROSS did background vocals for Mary Wells. Miss Wells LEFT MOTOWN BEFORE THE SUPREMES HAD THEIR FIRST HIT. Miss Wells was looking for better pay, acting roles, greener pastures.....her husband talked her out of a wonderful future at Motown Records. The company was only FIVE YEARS OLD then. She made a mistake quitting. So before you get on here with the gossip of someone, do your research. There are many books in the library about Motown. Learn to read.

unreal how men could brutalize defenseless women. all women should join forces and never separate one another by race because brutality against women is something all women face no matter what their race or the race of the men who perpetrate it. James Brown didn't lie when he recoded that song about it being a man's world. men could get away with so much back then. they still do.
