- Actor Lakeith Stanfield stopped by Ebro in the Morning to discuss his brand new movie 'The Photograph' which also star Issa Rae.
He also discussed his upcoming role in the untitled Fred Hampton movie, shares a Teddy Perkins story from the hit show 'Atlanta', his thoughts on playing a variety of roles, and telling different kinds of stories, working on the set of 'Uncut Gems' and more.
He also addressed his Charlemagne diss, and his feelings on media today overall.
'The Photograph' is in theaters Friday, February 14.

I'm calling it... This dude has the 'it' factor to be this generation's Denzel in terms of cultural impact and icon status. He has the talent, the versatility, deep character & intelligence, he's very easy on the eyes and he's not about that Hollywood BS. Plus he's very switched on to current and historical issues which help him give legitimacy to the characters he plays. His tortured artist and serious vibe just send his sex appeal through the roof! I'm very much looking forward to seeing more of his work.

@@frescohendrix286 i know, i saw that years ago. Unfortunately the estate did not authorize the film or give the film rights to Jimi's music. So the movie was unofficial.

Lakeith is talented and very articulate. Most would think he is eccentric and eclectic. He is, and that is why that makes him so dope. Not to mention he isn't bad on the eye! Good eye candy for the ladies.

I'm luke warm to the movie so I'll just have to see. Daniel Kaluuya as Fred Hampton is a mismatch at best. I think Lakeith would've been a better selection. My uncle was BPP Defense Captain Mark Clark who also died in the apartment on Dec, 4, 1969. I know Fred Hampton, Jr. and his mother Akua Njeri (Deborah Johnson) and, from what I know, they were not interviewed for this movie so the legitimacy of it is in question, in particular, it's message. My mother and I did a short documentary on my uncles life and involvement. Hey guys! I loved this movie and its story. The storytelling grew on me as it evolved into the movie as it unfolded. I think that LaKeith's presence overshadowed Issa Raye's. His acting skills, maturity, and naturalness rose to the surface. Thank you for bringing LS on!

Lakeith did absolutely amazing on Judas and the Black Messiah! I didn’t expect anything less from him. I was afraid he would play the role so well that I wouldn’t like him afterwards but after watching so many interviews afterwards I actually love him even more! I also get the feeling that his character as Darius in ATL is exactly who he is personally lol. And not to mention he is so damn fine. 😍😍

It was love at first sight. The first time I saw LaKeith, he was on Late Night with James Cordon the other night I can't stop reading about him on social media. I'm fascinated by this young man. He is sooo cool. LaKeith is " on something," that's what he says if he wants to give you a compliment. He is the sexiest man alive. Check out LaKeith modeling. I definitely want to see more of him. He is out in the universe
Lakeith is a master in any role he takes. He has a way of making the audience feel, question, and viscerally react to his craft on screen. I'd love to see him in a sci-fi thriller. Like a major thought-provoking project on par with Interstellar or Meet Joe Black.

Enjoyed this interview. I think he would have been MUCH better at invoking Fred Hampton than Daniel Kaluuya, as he seems to have more depth, breadth, and experience. This was a BAD decision and MISSED opportunity for that movie. Will I watch the movie now knowing this? The jury is still out. I really want to support Lakeith though.
