      Rick is fun and stuff, but sometimes it turns into more of a lame reaction video and he can't go as much in depth ofc as the producers themselves. Also the background stories are just super fun :D

    Misha, you are responsible for me getting into making music. I stumbled on one of your videos about guitar tracking tips a while back and that started my journey in making metal music. Also, the plugins and VST's you guys develop are really the reason I'm even able to make the music that I do. It's not very good but it's way better than I would have imagined just a few years ago.
    Keep rockin'

    This was an awesome stream.
    Just a note on music theory - it's not used when you're writing. If you use theory while you're writing and you follow all of the "rules" of theory, then you end up with a composition that sounds like 500,000 others. Theory is just used to explain what you're doing. If you can remember that, then theory would probably be a good thing for you to learn, especially if you do more of these streams breaking down different songs.

    • @martinrenteria4513
      @martinrenteria4513 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Theory can definitely be used while writing. Knowing modes and what target notes to hit for certain sounds in a part, or knowing diatonic harmony vs secondary dominants or borrowed chords, etc. all of that can really open up your options when writing

    I just wanted to thank you to breaking down all the section of the song. This is impressive and instructive at the same time to see all the stuffs you put into to make a song sounds great. Some are obvious, others are subtle. But I'm pretty sure that without that sublte things, any of your songs would sounds the same. Would love to see other songs break down like that : Lune, Satelitte, Omega are the first that came through to my mind. But whatever song you choose, I'll be happy !

    This was great and has got me so inspired. One thing I wish you’d gone into more detail on is the motif rhythm of the first half of the song. How did you write it ? How do you count it? Is there a pattern you follow? For me it’s one of the most intriguing parts of the song and also the hardest to play.

    28:42 My entire young life I always listened to music because of the meaning of it. I liked the purpose behind the songs I liked and the specific messages they sent. That completely changed when I discovered Periphery. This band focuses on the aesthetic aspects of music, and it does so much to make you *feel* the music itself. I still like songs that have messages, but now I primarily focus on how the music feels. I imagine that's common among fans of this genre, as it's all about unpredictability and creating very complex sounds.

    Do you change time signatures in the daw or do you just go with it? I noticed that lots of bars aren’t 4/4 so just wondering if you change your time signature when needed or if you don’t care when the downbeat of “1” is actually on the 2nd or 3rd beat of a measure according to the DAW’s time bar on top?
