We road tripped 13 hours to Charleston, so I’m sharing some highly requested road trip hacks in this video, along with a house tour of our vacation condo, and taking you with us on our family vacation with a baby and a toddler! let me know if you have any road trip or travel tips in the comments! -Brianna K xoxo
So many of you asked me on instagram for FAMILY ROAD TRIP tips and HACKS, so here is what we did to make this road trip a success with a baby and a toddler for 13 hours in the car…
1. Pack a LOT of healthy snacks - we partnered up with RXBar kids for this video, because that’s a go to healthy snack for me and for my kiddos because there’s no BS- you can see the ingredients right on the packaging. And don’t forget water too
2. Bring headphones for when little ones (hopefully) are napping so you can still listen to music, but we played white noise through the car speakers to help P keep sleeping.
3. While we don’t like Landon to have a ton of screen time, we brought his iPad to help break up the trip since we were in the car for 13 hours.
4. Find a rest stop where little ones can walk around , get fresh air, and get their wiggles out.
5. Bring a back pack with plenty of diapers, wipes, and changes of clothes. I’d recommend 1-piece outfits or PJs to make it easier if an outfit change is needed. And I love plastic bags in case I need to contain soiled, messy clothes.

A BIT ABOUT ME:
I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. I attended Ohio University, where I acquired a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism, and a master's degree in communication. From there, I joined Teach For America and taught 7th grade English in Baltimore, MD. I moved home to Cleveland to marry my husband, and have worked in a variety of roles in recruitment and HR. I currently manage a recruitment team, where I work from home when I'm not traveling for my job. I have two babies- my son Landon is two years old, and my daughter Presley is nine months old. I love being a mommy, decorating our home, planning parties, shopping, working out, cooking, cleaning, and meeting new people. I'm a bit obsessed with leopard print, wine, coffee, and reality TV shows. I am very passionate about helping others, and ensuring the world is a better place, especially when it comes to our children.

Before road trips or airplane rides, we go to the dollar store (without the kids) and pick out books, coloring books, window clings, toys (without small pieces) and we let the kids open them one at a time (almost like a countdown- every 10 minutes, half hour etc). Makes trips fun and the kids are entertained with items they aren’t used to
Here are my tips for long drives 😊 I always have Nausene in my L/O's bag in case she gets car sick. (Natural anti nausea, yes you can use it for toddlers)... Keep dvd player in the car! The one that has two screens that attach to the back of both front seats so the kids can have a screen on each side. I know a lot of things are digital now, but it's nice for them to not have to hold it & they can relax more... Keep a car organizer with books, crayons, coloring books, small toys, Ritz crackers & Kraft easy cheese in the spray can or whatever easy snacks you want them to have access to. (You can use a storage bin, or get something that hooks on to the back of the seat in front of them-- like those bathroom organizers that hang off the door, or use a Dollar Tree organizer, or Pinterest has other great ideas for car organizers!)... Some kids' window shades to keep the sun out of their eyes... And always have a secret weapon, something that you save just for emergencies and you KNOW will calm down fussiness or a tantrum at the drop of a dime. Lollipops, gummy bears, I'm sure it's going to be something that's full of sugar & not super healthy, but that's why it is for emergency purposes! Lol...
Also my daughter loves it when we play her Trolls & Moana soundtrack CDs in the car, especially when Daddy & I dance, sing, & just engage with her while the music is playing!... If you start your drive at night, after your L/O has their bedtime routine & is in their comfy PJs, bring their blankie etc, this will make it easier on you bc you have the whole night that you don't have to worry about them getting irritable & tired of being in the car.... And make sure you have paper towels, paci wipes, boogie wipes, baby wipes -- ANY KIND OF TOWEL + WIPE (TO CLEAN UP ANY POTENTIAL MESSES ALONG THE WAY!) Happy travels!

Love the vlog. Your children are adorable! My best tip if you are traveling more than 4 or 5 hours away I always traveled at night. That worked for my children and now my grandchildren. That way the next day they were not tired because they slept in the car. Just something to think about. Charleston looks beautiful!💁🏼👍

Loved this travel vlog so much! I visited Charleston a couple of years ago in the summer, and it was so hot, but definitely lovely!
Our family absolutely loves Charleston! We try to visit every year. Our last trip down was in July with our 3 boys that were 5 weeks old, 1.5 years old and 6 years old at the time. It was a 9 and half hour drive for us, but luckily our kids travel great in the car. We just make sure to pack lots of snacks, and movies for them to watch In the car. Loved the vlog! 💕

😍 glad y’all enjoyed Charleston! I’m convinced that half the state of Ohio lives in Charleston. 😂 we have several friends from Ohio. When we lived there, we went to the aquarium all the time. We love it! If you’re ever there during Mother’s Day or Father’s day, they let Mothers in for free on Mom day and the same for Dads on Father’s day. - your little family is so precious! Just fun memories to look back on!

Almost a half-hour and this sweet video just sailed right along. Absolutely loved everything about it. Your kiddoes' interaction is adorable. What a cool spot down there. Gorgeous! Shame for the rain but you made the best of it, and at least you didn't run into snow :) We just had a foot up here in central PA! Which I know isn't a biggie for Clevelanders :)

I recognize that drive! I'm east of Pittsburgh and we go to Richmond and the OBX fairly regularly to visit family and go on vacation. I was like, I recognize those mountains... Oh, wait, duh, I would. Haha. Thanks for giving me a tiny taste of vacation!
Charleston is so beautiful. We live 3.5 hours from charleston. I've been there so many times and it never gets old.
Now I want to visit Charleston so I can eat at all the places that you all ate at. The food looked so good.

One of my tips for road trips is buy one of those $1 carry all things that has 4 little compartments, which you can use to put food/snacks, or things for the kids to play with. I live about 4 hours from Charleston! Occasionally we take weekend trips there.
We always traveled over night when we drove from Florida to New York or to Canada.. we would leave home around 6 or 7 that way we stopped around 10 for the bathroom and to grab a quick something to eat and by the time they wake up at 9 we stop again if we didn’t reach our destination and freshen up to complete the rest of the trip..
When we travel with our three year old we get crayons, color books, lil games, some times target has the magnetic game boards, and we freeze a lot of fruit so that way while we're driving and by the time she wants them they'll defrost and stay cold longer.
Also for the ice cream we ask for 1/3 of a scoop so it'll be her size and she'll finish it

Road Trip Hacks: 1. magnetic car games/toys and a baking sheet. 2. magic markers and coloring books 3. a DVD player is a basic need in our car with 3 kiddos 4. Some sort of bingo type game that is age appropriate for your child (I made a color bingo game for us to be able to play) 5. a travel potty when you have potty trained kids (my older son even used it when he was 5!), it was a time saver and a seat saver when there was no where else to stop! 6. I bring puppets and we do a puppet show in the car
I'm sure I have a ton more, but I can't even think of it right now. LOL
Also, I LOVE CHARLESTON! I haven't been since having kids, but this just made me want to go back. I literally called my mom while watching this saying...let's make a Savannah and Charleston trip!

If they have a little styrofoam or plastic bowl, cut out a hole in the bottom and stick the ice cream cone through it. That way when it drips, it lands in the bowl! 😝🍦

My only tip for drippy ice cream is don't get it in a cone. Cups are the way to go😂 even I prefer my ice cream in a cup.
