So happy you enjoyed your visit. There is no place like the South. Lived here since I was 4 years old (GA, AL, MS, and now Memphis, TN). And thank you for portraying us in a positive light. Usually the media or Hollywood only focus on the racial and poverty aspects of the South which does not give the full picture of who Southerners are. We generally are the most hospitable and friendly people you’ll meet. Glad y’all had a lovely time. ☺️❤️🙏🏻✌🏻
I love visiting the South. Traveled from W VA to Kentucky, Tennessee, N and s Carolina, GA, Alabama. Haven’t been to Mississippi, wanted to go during football season. Southerners are FRIENDLY and polite. I enjoy being addressed as Ma’m and doors being opened for me.
I would LOVE to visit the South; the buildings and area looks so beautiful, the food looks great, the people seem so friendly!
Because the racial prospects of the South is reality and history. It’s very insensitive of you as a white woman to complain about that when minorities have to live it everyday. Of course it’s easy for you as a White woman to enjoy “southern goodness” without thinking about racial history. I’ve lived in the South all my life and I love it, but I’m not going to pretend like it’s not full of dark history. Actually I don’t even have the privilege of pretending that.

Josie - I think we are all emotional with what is going on in Ukraine right now and I think it just comes out when we see something like a sunrise. Nothing like a war to make you appreciate where you are in your life and if you are a compassionate caring person it just affects you subconsciously. BYW - I live in Charlotte, N.C. and the Carolinas are a wonderful place to live. We are lucky!

I stayed at the King's Courtyard Inn in Charleston back in '84 for my honeymoon and it was so, so beautiful.
As a Charleston native I loved watching this vlog and seeing my home! Those gorgeous trees you were wondering about are oak trees. One of the things that Charleston is known for is it's beautiful grand oaks! We even have one that is called the Angel Oak tree that is believed to be 400-500 years old! Please come visit again! You've only seen a fraction of this beautiful town I call home!

This vlog made me so happy :D I have visited quite a few US states but never South Carolina or Georgia and I'm so excited to visit after watching this. You two are so hilarious to watch as well...even before Tequila. I was going to give a shout out to the lady at the chicken take out shop you drove to for being such good fun but I imagine half of it was having two beautiful English ladies turning up in Zimmerman dresses, Freddie giggling away, you being so polite...and then your enthusiasm over the macaroni cheese being on the menu! But she seemed very smiley and happy from the start so shoutout to her for positive energy too! Honestly, this was so much fun to watch Josie and Freddy thank you so much!

My favorite city in the US - I probably visit 6 times a year. Such a beautiful, delicious and historic city. Low country at it's finest.

I wrote this on Freddy's vlog but thought I'd share it here too for you to see as I have some tips for future travel to the south: Wow, you guys were just in my neck of the woods! Although I live closer to Atlanta Ga I have been to many of the same places as you just visited. Charleston is the most beautiful city but I've only been once. Your video has definitely made me want to plan another visit and soon! You would not go wrong spending more time in Savannah. It has many beautiful and wonderful sights to see as well as the great history there. I LOVE Hilton Head. My cousin used to own a condo there and so I spent a few summers visiting. I would recommend in future going further south and visiting Amelia Island. It would be right up your alley and it is right across the water by ferry from Cumberland Island where there are wild horses, nature preserves, old ruins, and the historic Greyfield Inn (where JFK Jr and company stayed when he got married in a historical church there). Josie's King (reference to the King of Carnival) donut was decorated because of Mardi Gras coming up and those are the colors. As for white sand, I've traveled to a lot of beaches around the world and you will never find sand whiter than you will on the Gulf Coast which runs along the states of Alabama and Florida. Absolutely stunning and the sand squeaks when you walk on it! Also, love me some Chik Fil A!
There is a book set in Charleston written by Pat Conroy called South of Broad. It has some very dark scenes, so just be aware you’ll need some emotional fortitude if you choose to read it. But it’s a very well done book and it gives kind of an insider’s perspective of the historical wealthy part of the city, which is of course south of Broad street.

Just happened on Freddie's vid and then had to look for yours. How wonderful that you have just visited my home state. When you come back you MUST visit Beaufort, SC, my hometown. Most people miss it between Chas & HHI--a little piece of Heaven. So glad you came! (And your vid showed this lovely place at its best!)

Ironically hubby and I were in Charleston end of March for my 65th bday and our 35th wedding anniversary. We timed it for the historic society home and garden tour festival. You need to go then! You’ll see private homes and gorgeous gardens. We stayed at the Bennett. Coincidentally 82 Queen is one of my favorite little spots to eat. Tons of wonderful restaurants there.
Savannah’s absolutely charming we’ve been there as well as Hilton Head. First trip to HH in 1993 for tennis camp. Highlight was Arthur Ashe signed my racket!

Love your vlog of our beautiful areas that we have here in the US. I watched Freddy's yesterday. I was emotional with the sunrise too. Nothing more beautiful than watching the sunrise on the horizon and the day to break into its beautiful colors. Some people might have thought you bonkers but we act that way while traveling too. It's blowing my mind that you were in Charleston. When I first started watching you years ago, I was living in Hong Kong and your world felt so far away from mine. Now I live in South Carolina and that honestly felt like even more of a stretch. And here you are! SO glad you had a wonderful time. I have been all over the world and Charleston is still one of my favorite cities, though the history is rough as it played such a big role in the Confederacy and the slave trade.

Here in Raleigh, we go to Charleston to make ourselves feel as if we've gone to London or some other charming place... like the Cotswolds, LOL... but you probably only want to Charleston in January and February - the rest of the year is hot, humid and filled with tourists, LOL....
