- Did you know it’s pomegranate season in Kandahar Afghanistan? How would you like to go pomegranate picking with me? Wanna see how we eat pomegranates in Afghanistan? I’lll show you a 35 meter deep well which I almost fell into.
Did you know that pomegranates are rich in antioxidants and flavonoids, both are known to prevent free radicals from damaging our cells. What that means is that pomegranates are effective in preventing various types of cancers, like prostate, breast, lung, and colon. Cancer is rare in Afghanistan, as are many other diseases which westerners are bombarded by. We rarely have psychologists; in NYC everyone has a therapist.
Anar (pomegranates) contain many other benefits which include: heart health, urinary health, brain health, rich in vitamins & minerals, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, helps digestion, boosts immunity and lastly, pomegranates helped the Afghans win battles against giant empires with ballistic missiles, by feeding them the fruit…

I remember them old days and when the elders would praise the motherland, its weather, fruits, landscapes. I would go, what is so special about Afghanistan. Now after 23 years living away I exactly know what they meant. I write poems and reflect on those priceless memories. I pray to Allah S and ask him if I were to be born million times I would request him to bring me as an Afghan.

As our prophet stated, peace be upon him, "one can get all the doctorate degrees in the world, but one travels to distant corners of the world, there's no comparison. We can write about our holy motherland, but once we visit it, we realize how simple they live, the way of the indigenous tribes, the way of not being plugged into the matrix (electronics) 24/7... they tried very hard for almost 4 decades, various empires, but failed miserably -- The time has come for all Afghans around the world to visit their ancestors birth place; bring their children and see what life is really like, the simple and most beautiful way... most have nothing for themselves, but offer everything they can... May that day come when you too can visit the land of the Afghans as i did after 33 years, almost a decade ago -- Ongoing BlEssings --

Wow my brother, you are one awakened soul and I'm thrilled to see like minded people who don't want to be buried in golden coffin.
I know we are the minority in this ideal 21st century but my mind is also intact and I follow what makes sense unlike the big masses. You are so right about the matrix bit.
