    I am in a similar situation at the moment. I joined a company as a network admin. Currently trying to get CPTS, then OSCP and then "present my case" to the penetration testing team, seeing this video gives me hope.

      Awesome, keep it up man. For us it was really about showing how much effort we are willing to put in. They want to see that you are interested, that you have the drive to learn more about it. This industry grows, and new vulnerabilities are found all the time, so they want see that you are passionate and are going to continue learning :) Good luck!

    Congrats on the Jobs. One of the advices I want to give on your future videos is To make more hands on videos. The annoying thing in this Cyber security videos they make it too theoretical or they flood too much information. I want a concise video explaining about 'Nmap' and showing real case scenarios, how to avoid Firewall and Networks that filter ports. Second, When I follow TH-cam videos, I sometimes feel lost compared to Courses. I finish a video and I don't know what's the next step. Where do I go from here? A learning base is good to not lose track.

    • @_The_hackers
      @_The_hackers  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, thanks so much for the feedback! As a couple guys that have also spent quite a few years doing courses and learning off TH-cam, I completely get were you are coming from. We want to show you guys how to use tools on senarios that are as real as possible. Our channel is quite young, and we would like to bring playlists that group videos by content type, which will make it more course like.

    There are several "capture the flag" platforms out there. Would you kinda review some of them? Maybe go into their cost and value and compare different, relevant aspects?

      @@_The_hackers You are awesome. The two I am currently aware of are HackTheBox and TryHackMe. Not sure if there are others. Maybe if there are really bad ones that would be interesting. But especially an opinion with your expertise.
      The ultimate Hack-Challenges-Plattform Experience Comparison... :D Which one is good for beginners? Which one is fun for everyday joe hacker? Which one is good to progress in a career? What are the features it should have? (Pwnbox, VPN, ...) Can I have fun with the stuff I do get for free? Are the prices fair for the additional stuff? Are there any selfhosted alternatives? These could be topics of interest...

    i'm also learning to be an ethical hacker but this question always hit me "do you actually need a degree to land a job" ?

    • @_The_hackers
      @_The_hackers  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not actually. From what we've seen more weight is given to certifications like the OSCP and such. If you are planning to get into them, check out what field of cybersecurity they relate to. There are people we work with that dont have Degrees.

    How hard is it to get a jobs as a Jnr Penetration Tester, have acquired a CompTIA Pentest+ cert still no luck?

    • @_The_hackers
      @_The_hackers  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Finding a job as a Junior Penetration Tester can definitely be challenging, and it often depends on the country or region you're in, as the demand for cybersecurity professionals varies. In some places, there might be a high demand for entry-level roles, while in others, the market could be more saturated, making it more competitive.
      Earning your CompTIA Pentest+ certification is a great start and shows that you have a solid foundation in penetration testing. However, if you're not having much luck, it might be worth considering additional certifications like the OSCP (Offensive Security Certified Professional). The OSCP is highly regarded in the industry and often gets noticed by HR and hiring managers because of the practical, hands-on skills it demonstrates.
      Aside from certifications, gaining practical experience through labs, Capture The Flag (CTF) competitions, or contributing to open-source security projects can also boost your resume. Building a portfolio that showcases your skills, whether it's through a blog, GitHub repository, or other means, can make you stand out. Networking within the industry, attending conferences, and participating in security forums can also open up opportunities that might not be advertised.
      In summary, while the job market can be tough depending on where you are, investing in further certifications like the OSCP and building a strong portfolio of practical experience can significantly improve your chances. Keep pushing forward, and opportunities will eventually come your way!

    Hey, one more question. There's crucial topic that I don't think has being Kind of addressed. How can me who is not currently working in Cyber role, let's say Administrative Assistant apply Cybersecurity/Analyst exercises on my work environment, be it on the organization webpage, the router, the devices, my Co-workers, Company traffic through wireshark? How can we apply what we are learning?

    • @_The_hackers
      @_The_hackers  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for your question. So if you are looking at practicing specific techniques, it would depend on what you are trying to practice. But there is a lot out there to help. Say if you want to practice your scripting you have over/under the wire, if you want to practice networking concepts, there are apps like GNS3 and Cisco Packet Tracer (David Bombal has a lot to say on this). If you would like to practice moving around windows AD environments you could practice with GOAD. This is something we personly would like to make a future vid series on. If anyone see this comment and wants to add, throw in some ideas :)
