Hi, I would be interested to hear your thoughts on this video - it describes a technique that may have been used by the Egyptians to drill granite on a large scale. th-cam.com/video/kJ_NYSbmv-s/w-d-xo.htmlsi=PCLq_T9Obos-C2rP
Many thanks! Interesting findings.
Happy and restful holidays!
Thr fact that you use the word new is telling. All of these sights have been researched for years... Saying it's a 2023 discovery is lying. Period. Discounting the massive amount of work over the years is terrible and dishonest. Use the correct words. Newly confirmed discoveries in 2023. They were discovered and known about for years. Just because a piece a paper says it's true after years of research doesn't mean its new.
Want to see the find's, not see people talk
So beautiful that all over the world, people are working in teams to discover new truths about our shared human history. Archaeology is truly a lovely field
My feelings exactly!
You know the difference between archeologist and a grave robber...A degree
It's not that rosey unfortunately. I work construction and excavation and have witnessed some of the most amazing and history shaking discoveries brushed right under the rug or completely mislabeled by academia and "archaeologists". Modern archaeology is barely a science if it qualifies at all. Incredibly sad.
@@deborahellzey4317or the respect they have for the grave they’re disrupting???
@@brewsterbrandon9554 boo hoo
This was a big gift to us armchair archaeologists
🤣 going forward I shall only refer to myself as an Armchair Archeologist 🤣🤣
😂😂😂
I love that you show actual photos of what you're talking about.
What, you don't want to watch 20 minutes of only someones face the whole time?
@@user-en9qd5nx8w alot of youtubers post photos that aren't relevant
Thanks for featuring our project in Mitla Oaxaca!
I wish I had a professor like you. Your excitement for these discoveries makes me want to learn more. Thank you for the amazing video.
Thank you Professor Miano and Professor Natalie and Happy Holidays to you and your familes and your colleagues for extraoridinary videocasts that have broadened our knowledge and shown a light in the dark corners of our past.
Wowee♥️ That is one of the best compliments I have ever seen! What a nice thing to say. I will definitely listen to this videocast, now! Happy Holidays💐

Glad they’re making more archaeological discoveries in Nineveh. As an Assyrian, watching ISIS destroy so many sites and artifacts was very painful, so this is nice to see. They couldn’t erase our history.
Appreciate you bringing to our attention so many important finds! I'm really interested in learning more about all the sites hidden in the Amazon, as well as the finds in Peru. Seems so little is really known about these areas. The temple in ancient Sumer is also really intriguing! Can't wait to see what's found, and it's really encouraging considering all the tech breakthroughs helping look under vegetation, under water, and even under the earth itself! Pretty exciting!
The most recently announced discovery I can think of that was not mentioned is the discovery of a previously unknown language in the archives of the Hittites.
A big Thank You for putting this on a “proper’ video David / Prof. Miano! I was gutted when I saw similar roundups come up as ‘Live’ shows. I cannot bear all the waiting and faffing about between items in that format and so never watch them now. I am a big fan of your channel and greatly appreciate all your work. Very best wishes from Dorset, UK, for the holiday period and 2024. 🇬🇧
Yo I'm from Dorset!
It's been such a great year!!😊
Your video on ancient phallus is one of my favorites of all time
@@headlessspaceman5681 haha thanks!
Hola! Thank you so much for your passion and dedication! This top 20 was a great compilation and I’m so proud that 2 of them belong to my beloved country, México 🇲🇽 Happy New Year and may 2024 bring greater and amazing discoveries 😊! Best wishes from Malaysia 🇲🇾
2023 has been a rough year for many… 🎉 for bringing us such great news 📰 I had no idea about ! 🙏🏼
Yes, 2023 was bad for many. If it was for you, you have my sympathy. It was a rough year for my family, for sure. I lost my eldest son in August, who passed away basically for reasons unknown. I now only have my younger son.
I don't even have my soulmate, who chose 3 years ago to toss away nearly 40 years together because I wasn't any fun any more (I was staying home due to the C-19 that could easily kill me due to health reasons). I've had too much to mourn, lately. If only extra money in my pocket could ease my pain, I'd have no pain at all, but the old adage is true: money can't buy a single ounce of happiness when your life is empty and cold.
@@MaryAnnNytowl so sorry, I have immune deficiency so I stay in now too. These issues cost us a lot, and you aren't alone
Hoping for blessings for you this year.
Love the Sumerian and Assyrian discoveries
THANK YOU!!!! We, my daughter and I, absolutely love your channel. To stave off Alzheimer's, it runs in the family, I have a goal of learning something new everyday. You have taught me more than I learned in school! BTW, back then Plate Tectonics was just a theory and the Eratic Rocks found in Willamette Valley, Oregon were attributed to glaciers not the Missoula Floods. Keep up the good work David and Natalie! Happy Holidays!
I have always aimed to learn something new each day. It stems from many decades ago when I was a child: my daddy told me that no day was wasted as long as I learned something new. 😊 From that point on, I promised to try to never waste a single day!
The glacial erratics of Willamette Valley are now said to be from the Missoula Floods? Whoa...
Can you point me at info about that?
I know the Willamette Meteorite (huge) was thought to have fallen near Canada, and moved here by glaciers...
I love listening to science esp astronomy programmes as well. I only understand a fraction of some esp on quantum stuff but hope that by a slow osmosis more will be absorbed. I moved to Spain 13 yrs ago and have learned enough Spanish to hold a conversation tho my grammar needs work. I have read that learning a new language is very beneficial for brain health. I certainly hope so. 😉
Hey, check out lion's mane mushroom gummies to help stave off alzheimer's... it regrows brain cells!!
5:29 < Omg, is that Han Solo frozen in carbonite? What an incredible find.
But seriously, these are some fantastic archaeological discoveries in 2023. Well done! Looking forward to more in 2024.
Nice to hear a real person with a decent pronunciation & voice.
Thank you, Dr. Miano! I always look forward to your work.
Gotta love that nerdy enthusiasm by you Prof Miano! Happy holidays!
Every year I watch you present the finds, and every year I enjoy them immensely. My sincere thanks. Hoping that 2024 brings you many wonderful discoveries to share next December!
Thanks for sharing these!
Happy holidays. Thank you for the ongoing education. The amount of things that happened in our past which we’ve lost is amazing.
I first learned about Egypt in the 1950's. SO much has been discovered since! It is VERY exciting!!! THNX
Love the joy in your eyes when you talk about ancient writings.
That's so great. Very excited to know the process of archaeology's frontiers

Thank you so much for another video! Your channel has been my favorite find of 2022, I took 2 archaeology clases as a part of my minor in university and have always been fascinated by the topic. Happy Holidays to you and your family and I'm looking forward to 2024 finds!

Thank you for this update. I'm so excited to learn how much more there is to discover about ancient structures buried beneath desserts, forests and seabeds.
Love this video! Great information! Fascinating!
Great Content! thank you!
Ultra interesting! To get glimpses into our past helps bring foundation and a sense of our own place in history.
Mostly gives me hope knowing that failure of societies doesn't necessarily mean that the end is near..much the opposite!
Merry Christmas to you and yours.

All that was awesome! Thank You. Happy New Year to all...
This was very interesting! I love your channel.
Bravo Prof. Miano, specialization is the most scientific way to go. However, it would be so wonderful if you could persuade colleagues in other fields to collaborate on a years end extravaganza of best discoveries and interpretations in the various fields. Yes, I know as an academic, that it would make herding cats simple by comparison, but I can dream. Happy holidays and best wishes for the new year!
I agree totally and I will continue dreaming with you
that was great fun, thank you!
Been waiting all year for this one!
Thank you so much !! Your chanel is a gem ❤💎💖

Thank you!
Thank you.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
This was absolutely fascinating
just amazing i randomly found this channel just now and im loving it !
Welcome!
Excellent, interesting presentation.
I'm excited to see what those clay tablets say. Even if they're just some administrative documents, they'll still undoubtedly be fascinating reads.
God I love this stuff. The two highlights for me are
1. The Amazon finds and speculation. It sorta makes sense if you realize that, with previous ice ages, it's totally logical that the climate would've been more temperate there and probably housed most of humanity in the area at that time. There's probably thousands of sites to discover there.
2. By far for me is Girsu. I love that the more we learn about the Sumerians, the more they defy our expectations of knowledge and scientific advancement. Everything we uncover around them really expands our understanding and bust the myth that ancient peoples were somehow "dumber" than we are today.
Happy Christmas David
Thank you.
love this series
Thank you, sir.
Wowwww...... I am so happy I ran into your site. It is everything I'm into plus a place to learn about Asian dig sites that I am lacking info on. Amazing! Thank you so much for your video and your passion and energy! Fantastic!
