Totally love you and your daughter! I am an Aida stitcher and so glad to see others embrace it with such lovely work. I also have naturally curly hair so I feel ya!
A lot of people women put their Orts in an ornament and then put a label in the ornament for “orts of 2022” or anything cute like that. Love the videos 😍🥰
I forgot, you have mad quilt skills, I literally can not sew a straight line, seriously, I had a brother runway edition machine, way too overwhelming, so it has been adopted, now I have a nice Singer, only 4 stitches, well, I was working diligently on making a needle book, well the one I attempted ended up a horrible death, I had to sling it out the window, as the corner caught on fire 🔥, not sure how, but it went flying, so I put the sewing machine on a LONG time out in the back of my closet, I swiftly swept the oddments into a garbage bag never to bee seen again 🤣 I can knit, crochet, cross stitch but I don’t think the sewing gene was in my DNA. Your work is stellar beautiful lady. Have a wonderful week
Ahh thank you! I wish I could knit. I tried, I think I am wound too tight. I get all tense and the knitting gets all tight and all wonky. I tried several times. I am done. Some day I would like to try crochet.
I’m really excited to “meet” you on TH-cam! I am an “AIDA-only” stitcher and I do mainly 14 or 16 counts. I love to see others who also stitch on Aida! It’s soooo cool to see what a design would look like on Aida!. I really enjoy your persona on your visits! You seem soo natural and comfortable so it’s “real”. Hope you will be doing LOTS more visits here! =D
Your wonderfully talented, floss tube AND quilter. I attempted sewing once, it was a HUGE FAIL, the fabric suffered a horrible death as it went out the dining room window ( surprised the neighbor lady didn’t call emergency services ) with a corner that may have accidentally been on fire 🔥, I then took my garbage can in my sewing room ( like how do I have a sewing room? It’s actually my catch all room ) I saved the sewing machine, and put it in time out at the bottom of my closet, for who knows. And the rest went in a tote for also an undetermined time out. I bow to you 💕
Hi Just found your video awesome,Love all your stitching and other projects, scrap cottons I get rid of,I’m trying to de clutter 😂used to keep them in a jar like you, hope you get some rain soon to clear the air,I live in NZ and we are just coming into spring,we are looking forward to summer, anyway stay safe and well, look forward to your next video, Thankyou for sharing 👍🇳🇿
Thanks so much for joining me from NZ! Happy spring! I try to declutter then I am pulling stuff back out of my "get rid of box" it is an endless circle!
Lovely video! My new favorite flosstube. Your quilts and wool appliqué are beautiful. I’m a quilter too. And, of course, your cross stitch projects are terrific!
I’m so happy I found your channel!! We have similar needle arts in common! All your projects are so beautiful to see! Can’t wait to see more of your videos 💜
Hey Bonnie! ❤️ your quilts & xstitch! I add some orts to fiberfill for my smalls & also put some outside in the bushes. I’ve been told the birds will use them to make their nests, although I haven’t witnessed that yet, I do know they disappear rather quickly. I like the idea anyway! Stay safe out there. I’m so looking forward to cooler temperatures….
Hi Wendy! Thank you for joining me! Well they must be going some where! I cut my husbands hair out on the back patio and the same thing happens to is hair...it disappears.
I make a Christmas ornament each year with the orts from the past year of stitching. I use a clear plastic ornament found at any craft store (Hobby Lobby. Michaels, JoAnns)and add a little paper tag with the year. The rest of the orts go outside for the birds to add to their nests.
I am going to put my orts in a clear glass or plastic Christmas ball, tie a cute ribbon on it or something and hang on the tree. (You could add the year somehow.) There is such a cute saying to go with it, so you could give a empty ornament to a friend along with this poem for a gift. “A Work of Ort - A Poem for Stitchers” As you stitch the hours away and snip the odds and ends that fray, drop them in here for a colorful array, to brighten your tree for the holiday. This is not my idea but I can't remember where I saw it at.
Omg I'm so excite I found your channel your work is breathtaking, an your bags are stunning thanks for sharing the blackbird chart an as for the orts I save mine all year an make a Christmas ornament out of them with clear bulbs from a craft store ( or dollar general) an I mark the year on them an sometimes if I'm working on a special project when that project is finished (ffo) I'll use the orts from that project to stuff it (if it becomes a pillow finish ) hope that helps an I'm looking forward to seeing what you share nexted thank you
I am happy you are here! Haha, it took me forever to figure what all these letters mean for all this cross stitch stuff! Orts, old raggedy threads. I did not make that up, not sure who started it.
Beautiful projects! Your mini basket wool project! GREAT finish. That’s the type of project that I have waiting in my retirement fund as I do only seem to manage to shop more than stitch working with working FT. (There was a period I did no shopping trying to be wise and that was NO FUN!). What did you call your thread snips? I save threads in a cute 1c size Ball jar for a year, then use as stuffing in a pin cushion…only takes up a small space when all squished. Lol
those project bags are so adorable, the first one you showed is my favorite! I keep my orts in a mason jar. I havent decided what im going to to do with them yet. but i have an idea to someone not them up and maybe turn it into a zipper pull or several if it works out. if that doesnt work then my other idea is to put them into some small resin molds and make resin zipper pulls that way.
I'm a new subscriber and I love your projects! I really like how you are drawn to a variety of styles! As for Orts... I keep a jar next to me that I fill and have plans to put them into a clear ornament to hang on my christmas tree. Love your quilting and appliqué too. Can you say why you don't do blanket stitch anymore? I'm new to it and trying to figure it all out. Happy stitching~
Hi Katherine! Thanks for all your kind words. I just think the blanket stitch takes too long and it is over rated. And most of the time you can hardly tell the difference. If the wool pieces are really little, it overwhelms the wool. But I did blanket stitch for a long time. So play with it and see what you like, do what you like. That is why I changed, I thought...do what I like!
On your star project what was the fabric your using Aida? And did you dye it too look vintage or rustic? And what count ? I enjoy your watching your content happy stitching
Totally love you and your daughter! I am an Aida stitcher and so glad to see others embrace it with such lovely work. I also have naturally curly hair so I feel ya!
Thank you so much for your kind words and Yippie for Aida! Grrr, that curly hair.
Keep It Simple Stitcher - me too! I get so excited to “meet” another Aida stitcher =D
Love that owl bag! And the dog pattern.
I am a sucker for anything with cute animals :)
Love your dog!
Make an ornament with your left over threads. Buy a clear ornament at Michael’s and fill it with the threads and put on your Christmas tree.
Such a wonderful idea! That seems to be the most popular idea!
A lot of people women put their Orts in an ornament and then put a label in the ornament for “orts of 2022” or anything cute like that. Love the videos 😍🥰
I have heard of people doing this too! I still have mine sitting here...debating on just tossing them.
Such a fun and refreshing flosstube! I have that Sprinkles pattern. Need to pull it out and get busy.
You should, it was super fun!

Haha, the birds love those bits don't they!
Cute quilt! Love all your project bags. I put my orts in a clear Christmas ornament and write the year in it with a paint pin.
Thanks for your kind words! It seems a lot of people are doing that!
Great job. Love everything you do.
Thank you so much!
Such beautiful quilts!
Some people put all their orts in a clear Christmas ball ornament,
That is a great idea!

Thank you! That is good to know.
I've been wondering what to do with my thread ends!! What are you calling them? Orts? What does that stand for? So happy I've found your channel!!

It was a random white aida 14ct and hand dyed by me with tea...I believe it was tea! Sometimes I use coffee too.
A lot of people put their orts in a clear ornament for their Christmas tree.
I am hearing that from a lot of people, so clever.
Leave the window...who cares? It makes it yours❤️
Well I think we are besties now!
Hello - Is your BBD America stitched on 14 Fiddler's Cloth? My go-to fabric. Just found your channel and subscribed
I love that too! This one is 18ct Rustico Natural. Thank you for subscribing.
It just looks like the window is opened a bit.
Ha! It does!
Where did you get the pattern for the project bags? Are they by -Annie ??
