Hey Friends! When have you heard of Shokran firstly? Write down in the answers section!) We also announced the release of our new LP "ETHEREAL" which you can pre-order here: smarturl.it/shokran_ethereal
from [the biggest shred collab song in the world II (2018)] your solo was the best imo, a destructively life ending elegance . now im listening to Exodus and consider me a super fan.
Yeah, I agree there. I don't play bass, but I really do notice when a band has an exceptional bass player, and knows how to use that. And yeah, bass players aren't very appreciate. People would definitely notice if you were missing, I bet. Thanks for all you bassists do :)
As a producer, and a musician I encounter this problem aswell so I dodged a way around it I have to separate bass recordings. The first is a low rumbley bass tone that gives the underlying mass in the songs. The second is a trebley richer tone, Bring out all of the pops hits slaps and punchines of bass. Really cuts through, it also bothers me how people think bass is easy like I'm a guitar I can solo and sweep and all that but there is simply too much my bassist can do that I can't on a bass xD

It's good, but this is not album of the year, Infant Annihilator gets that. Gotta say I am floored by how good this album is. They took a bit of the Black Crown Initiate feel and I love it.
Maybe djent album of the year one could argue this, BoO's release was last year's so that's out, ATB had Dig Deep tho... New AAL is coming out too tho to contest this.
This is what happens if Born of Osiris takes inspiration from Slice The Cake's "Odyssey To The West"... Which is a really, really good thing from what I can hear (I also recommend listening to OTTW especially if you like this album)
_Welp, props on having good taste in music, cause all i see you on are metal videos_ _Where i live, i get accused of worshiping satan because i got caught listening to a job for a cowboy song in class like a year ago._
Thats a perfectly reasonable outlook, i get that; but the point of my statement is vocalists in this genre are far under appreciated not there should be no instrumental version ;P
+Ascent To Zenith but that makes you a djent head as OP said lmfao and alot of people make vocal covers, like way more than you think, it's fucking incredible. Here I am still can't do vocals.

Been waiting for this album for ages and it was totally worth the time waiting. This album is just perfect each and every part of it, i really love the fact that the entire album is about Exodus from the bible. Even the songs titles are inspired by the 10 plagues of egypt. GREAT work you guys deserve much more fame !
Here are my honest thoughts after listening to the album from beginning to end with almost no interruption. The beginning three songs really grabbed my attention, As one of the people that purchased the single "Creatures from the Mud" A long time ago, I think Blood was a perfect intro to that song. I also liked the rhythm and tone in "The Swarm". That solo! Unfortunately, Living Arrows didn't grab me as much. It's an alright tune but it sounded kind of generic. Nothing about it screamed SHOKRAN to me. "Praise the Stench (of Your Fallen Idols)" on the other hand, is a phenomenal metal song. The heavy pace is established from the beginning and is maintained even when the clean vocals are sung. And.. That solo! ...Again! "Disfigured Hands" sounds like it's going to be a very interesting instrumental song. I just wish I could sample the instrumental album before buying.. I mentioned I owned the "Creatures in the Mud" single. Well, it's the instrumental version. My "Supreme Truth" is instrumental too. I also bought the "Sixth Sense" EP which was ONLY instrumental. I'm definitely biased towards the instrumental sound of SHOKRAN when they have such a strong Egyptian theme in their music. "Pray to the Martyr", "Memories", "Collapses", "In Theatre of Illusion" and "Punishment" in particular. While that Egyptian sound is in this album, it's not as much of a focus this time around. It sounds buried under the vocals and seems absent from other songs entirely. With that sound missing, I fear the instrumental versions of some of these songs will sound like even more generic djent. I'm looking forward to hearing what the instrumental album sounds like and if that Egyptian presence is as strong as it was in "Supreme Truth". Then comes "And Heavens Began to Fall" and takes every negative thing I've said about this album and makes them entirely irrelevant. This song is perfectly crafted. That solo is perfectly executed. Even the Egyptian presence that I was just bitching about is there. Lauren Babic's performance is breathtaking. I only wish she had a greater role in the song. This is by far my favorite track on the album and I'd buy the entire thing without any knowledge of the other songs just to have that beautiful piece of music! "The Storm and the Ruler" has an interesting intro and this vocal style kind of reminds me of the vocalist from Oh, Sleeper but beyond that, it doesn't really stand out to me. This one does seem like it would be another great instrumental though. I might be biased towards SHOKRAN's instrumental work but when the vocals are done right, they're spot on! "Revival of Darkness" is one of those songs with some awesome vocal work. The new vocalist really shows what he can do here using a ton of different ranges that blend surprisingly well together. "Firstborn" has a great intro and is a good tune but ends too abruptly, in my opinion. Especially to be the closing song of the album. I realize djent songs usually have abstract rhythms and abrupt ends but I think the end of the album could have been stronger. Overall, this is a solid album and a very enjoyable listen. The strongest songs are the ones that define their sound early and stick to it such as "Praise the Stench (of Your Fallen Idols)" and "And Heavens Began to Fall" while the songs that I didn't enjoy as much sound... conflicted. Like there are different styles and tempos fighting to be the dominant sound that drives the song forward but by the end, nothing really stands out and the song fails to leave a lasting impression. Nonetheless, I would definitely recommend this album to rock fans, metal fans and anyone that's already a fan of this unique band. This is noticeably a different SHOKRAN than the one that made "Supreme Truth" but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Not gonna lie, "And Heavens Began To Fall" is by far, the best song on this album, with "Blood"&"Creatures From The Mud" as the backup. Hell, I'd buy the whole album just for those 2 1/2 or if you wanna call it 3 songs!
Rajika Albjuit man to be honest I wasn't a huge fan The heavens began to fall. but then after listening a few more times and turning up the volume a bit, I started listening to it closer, and wow they did an AMAZING job on that song. it's my fav song from the album now
Nathan Pickering Heh, well that's good that you love the song as well my friend! I mean, at first, I needed to get used to the fact that we had a new singer here, but I grew to it very quickly.
Found this in my recommended section. Typically I never click those videos because I know I'll dive into video upon video upon video of decent metal .. which can be great, but kills productivity. That being said ... I am VERY glad for once I clicked this video and stayed to listen through this! Top notch.
the panning jumps on this track with the guitar and the keyboard really makes this album for me...... on a production level..another amazing find.....new fan here
Well that explains it :) I've been listening to a lot of both bands this weekend. You guys have serious talent. Thanks for replying, by the way. Very cool. It made my day.
As an Arab metal fan I'm so happy that more classic Arabian vibes are being introduced, this is amazing \m/ I really want to belly dance to this now Also, since you named the band "Shokran"('thank you' in Arabic) You must really love my culture and that makes me so proud and happy ❤ so shokran for loving my culture and putting it into your beautiful metal music \m/
I am the thousandth comment. Heard this back in 2017 and became instantly hooked. A superb album. Thanks Shokran friends and good luck with your future endeavours and new album!
Only four songs in and I'm like WOW. Been meaning to listen to this album for a while and finally got to it today. And just WOW. I don't get that excited about a lot of new music today and I know being age 43 usually means not accepting of new ideas. However, these guys have created something really special here. Superb song writing. Amazing technical and rhythmic prowess. Extremely versatile vocals. It's all there. Welcome to Shokran. I am a fan.
I learned what these meant from someone who knows theory. I think they had it right and I don't think I'm going to change it. The only difference between the two scales is an added tonic note on I think the 7th interval.
One of the most well put together albums I've heard in quite some time. You guys have serious skill. Listened to this album about 20 times in the last week. Keep it up, the quality and lyricism is incredible. To hear a narrative from the perspective of the Israelite people and then the transition to the viewpoint of the Egyptians.... From a Theology major, well done!
Ow guys this album is just perfect. And the more you go the better it gets! I've listening to it for the passed year now and I still find gems here and there in the underlying melody. It's "almost" perfect but glad to see you're still humans, there's a typo in the text: Avalible instead of Available... Without kidding, your music is perfect in so many ways!
This sound! Good job fellas, this is fantastic! you've got yourselves a new fan. You better believe that ill come see you guys play when you come to California.
AAAARRRRGHGHHHGHHGHG!!!! I'm sure it's as unappealing as the 10 plagues but please come to Utah on your next tour! Amazing music...really. Thank you for this.

I wasn't sure if I loved this right away, but I came back and listened to it three or four times. I guess that answers that. I just grabbed the album from their bandcamp page. \m/ Thanks for the tunes.

I think this type of music shall be called hybrid death metal because it has oriental metal, death metal, death core and melodic metal mixed in each song. Its a hybrid masterpiece. Love you guys!
Hey Friends! When have you heard of Shokran firstly? Write down in the answers section!)
We also announced the release of our new LP "ETHEREAL" which you can pre-order here: smarturl.it/shokran_ethereal

An year ago... Heard the solo in supreme truth first
from [the biggest shred collab song in the world II (2018)]
your solo was the best imo, a destructively life ending elegance . now im listening to Exodus and consider me a super fan.
Your song "Interlude" was shared in a Facebook group I'm in a few years ago, no regrets
I've just heard of it due to this video album. It just appeared on my home page.
the tone and production quality of this album can cure cancer
Not just the bass, either. Everything - percussion, guitars, vocals. Loving it.

Similar meaning
Interestingly enough, I learned this word from a Jordanian friend while in Russia (this band's homeland) and speaking English (my native language)!
... 🤘 🇷🇺
Album of the year
agreed
The EGG by Infant Annihilator tho.... and Primordial by Shadow of Intent crush pretty hard
New AAL is coming out too tho to contest this.
please tell me djent aoty isn't about to be a thing. And these guys have almost zero to do with AAL
Such an unbelievable growth between Supreme Truth and this. God everything is so on point.
This is what happens if Born of Osiris takes inspiration from Slice The Cake's "Odyssey To The West"... Which is a really, really good thing from what I can hear (I also recommend listening to OTTW especially if you like this album)
I was thinking about it man!
OTTW is my album of the year; hands down.
ZookeyFilms I have to commend Shokran for this album, but I totally agree with you on that one :D
I literally thought the same exactly thing.... BOOs The Discovery + STCs OTTW = This Album. OTTW is my l time favorite album.
The heavens*
Is sooooooo good!
Adding a woman to take part in vocals was genius!
Can't get enough of it!
:) thank you!
+Lauren Babic your My Understandings cover back in the day was ❤ stoked to hear ya on this album!
_Ooop, there ya are again_
Cuz while I work for TH-cam I slip some comments on my break
_Welp, props on having good taste in music, cause all i see you on are metal videos_
_Where i live, i get accused of worshiping satan because i got caught listening to a job for a cowboy song in class like a year ago._
Yes all the Djent kids want an instrumental haha! vocalists in this genre are so under appreciated, these vocals are awesome as fuck! ;D
Actually a lot of the time people want instrumentals so they can do vocal covers so it's kind of the opposite of under appreciation lol
Well lets face it thats a very slim margin of people isn't it haha
lolwut? It's not about being a djent kid. I just don't want vocals on tracks like these. So much going on, I want to just hear it.
Thats a perfectly reasonable outlook, i get that; but the point of my statement is vocalists in this genre are far under appreciated not there should be no instrumental version ;P
+Ascent To Zenith but that makes you a djent head as OP said lmfao
and alot of people make vocal covers, like way more than you think, it's fucking incredible. Here I am still can't do vocals.

Metalmania.
Lololololololl
Just ordered the Album and Instrumental on their bandcamp.
_Saiyan, why do i see you every-fuckin-where i go?_

Good comment man seriously!
Living Arrows is actually my favorite from the album so I'll have to disagree with you there, but everything else seems spot on! good review!
Not gonna lie, "And Heavens Began To Fall" is by far, the best song on this album, with "Blood"&"Creatures From The Mud" as the backup. Hell, I'd buy the whole album just for those 2 1/2 or if you wanna call it 3 songs!

Incredible record, I'm absolutely hooked.
Discovered this band from Spotify. No regrets.
Best album I've heard in a while. So good and atmospheric.
Found this in my recommended section. Typically I never click those videos because I know I'll dive into video upon video upon video of decent metal .. which can be great, but kills productivity. That being said ... I am VERY glad for once I clicked this video and stayed to listen through this! Top notch.
[scratches neck feverishly]
Y'all got anymore of that Shokran??
Loving this sound!
the panning jumps on this track with the guitar and the keyboard really makes this album for me...... on a production level..another amazing find.....new fan here
Just found you after you posted on a Jinjer video. Fucking love the sound. Sharing it with all my metalhead friends :)
Exodus was mixed & mastered at Morton Studio, Jinjer produced their album there too))
Well that explains it :) I've been listening to a lot of both bands this weekend. You guys have serious talent.
Thanks for replying, by the way. Very cool. It made my day.
I found Jinjer the other week, and these guys late yesterday. Fucking awesome!
I came from Jinjer too!!!!

THE MELODY TAKES ME TO ANOTHER WORLD! SHOKRAN, I LOVE YOU!
As an Arab metal fan I'm so happy that more classic Arabian vibes are being introduced, this is amazing \m/ I really want to belly dance to this now
Also, since you named the band "Shokran"('thank you' in Arabic) You must really love my culture and that makes me so proud and happy ❤ so shokran for loving my culture and putting it into your beautiful metal music \m/
So Shokran means Thank you ?

Definitely among the best albums of the year.
These guys and Slice the Cake could have made a phenomenal split album together! RIP STC!
holy bass in this album. You are a great band )))
^^
ты гений WALLY!!
Shokran never ceases to amaze me!! A seamless, methodical master piece from start to finish!!
Another Egyptiancore band. I approve.
Hollywood Hampton I'm from Egypt and I dig it ;)🅰🤘🅰
You must be keen to shovels
NAHHHH BAE
wich it this genre called then?
Technical Deathcore.
Only four songs in and I'm like WOW. Been meaning to listen to this album for a while and finally got to it today. And just WOW. Good on you man! Keep on with that open mind of yours :) if you want to hear something similar, check out Cursing Akhenaten by After the Burial
This album is so good, I listen to it everyday :) Thanks !
Great stuff guys, the clean vocals complement the speed of the guitars in songs like "Disfigured Hand" really well
Much MUCH better than Supreme Truth, I'm in love!
That guitar at 19:56 reminds me of something Estas Tonne would do.
Camelworks I under estimated your taste in music aye
You're absolutely right
what the hell are you doing here dude ? Great taste in music. Creating quality content is coming from listening to quality music i guess.
Fancy seeing you here loremaster of tamriel
xD yeah you right
*P H R Y G I A N*
For what....?
lmfao^
Minor harmonic*. Still much better than most popular music, and also more elaborated than many other djent songs.
I learned what these meant from someone who knows theory. I think they had it right and I don't think I'm going to change it. The only difference between the two scales is an added tonic note on I think the 7th interval.
Lucas Jenkins it's the harmonic minor. -from someone who knows theory.
This has to be in my top 3 of all the Ten Plagues of Egypt narrating albums out there.
Pure gold..
I love it. Maybe instrumantal version?
CD only
DAMN! Now they really got me into buying something^^
Shades of Black is your band. Check him out
Already know him, but thanks ;-)
Or with clean vocals only.
Great band and audio Quality
It feels so short... Albums should be at least 40 minutes long. Don't ask me why haha.
why
I agree, most albums are close to an hour or even over an hour, this is pretty much an EP
+AyZeD Not close enough to EP length, I agree its short but that's due to the song lengths being short. Just look at some of VoM's albums lol...
which band is VoM? :D
Benjámin Biró Veil Of Maya (I'm guessing?)
This is what Born of Osiris should have been like...
I was thinking the same thing. I wish they would've stayed going in this direction after The Discovery.
Eren Yeager I totally agree. I had this thought like 15 minutes before I read this comment. This is Born Of Osiris matured times 10. Shit is nasty.
They couldn't without Jason Richardson lol
Aaah Eren! my baby! xD
You are all high..... boo is great but I don't think they could pull this off at all.
This is f'in wicked Shokran! I'm definitely a brand new fan! Keep it going, you all are truly blessed with great music. \m/
This Album is soooooo good, really got me into this band. The clean vocals sound like if Michael Keene of The Faceless were actually good at singing.
This sound! Good job fellas, this is fantastic! you've got yourselves a new fan. You better believe that ill come see you guys play when you come to California.
Erick Pastrana unfortunately these guys play only in the post-Soviet countries ... for now.
I love stumbling on awesome, talented bands like this at random. Definitely buying the CD.
AAAARRRRGHGHHHGHHGHG!!!!
I'm sure it's as unappealing as the 10 plagues but please come to Utah on your next tour!
Amazing music...really. Thank you for this.
Disfigured hands is really amazing. The sense of chaos, the high speed, the mixing and the occasional dissonance are all incredible
Perfect intro
The mixing on this albun sounds even better than supreme truth but where is the instrumental version of it please
The instrumental version is only available on CD
Oh i see
It's so worth it.
Dobře Vy. Zajímavá relax muzika )
This sounds like if 'Supreme Truth' was allowed to age finely, like a wine :)
Great album, but we want the instrumental version please
Speak for yourself.
Go buy the digipack off of their bandcamp page, includes insturmental version.
Thanks, @Keister. Much appreciated, dude. :)
Now, to wait 6 weeks for it to show up. D:
DigiPack = digital pack = you download it and dont have to wait! C'mon, man! (the instrumental is really really nice)

I wasn't sure if I loved this right away, but I came back and listened to it three or four times. I guess that answers that. I just grabbed the album from their bandcamp page. \m/ Thanks for the tunes.
This pleases me.
Hearing this for the first time 5 years later. Still amongst the top albums I have listen to in a very long time.
25:40 sounds so much like Machine by Born of Osiris
not really
If you like your metal mixed with sitar, check out:
Dream Theater - Home
Haken - Pareidolia
The Gentle Storm - Shores of India
This record is amazing! Found these guys on TH-cam few weeks ago and I am hooked! Spread the word to my friends and everyone's digging it! Keep it up!
21:40 sounds like Diablo 2 Rogue Encampment
True
Haha that used to be my favorite game for so long growing up. It does kinda sound like it
The little bar under the track name is dope. Following along to the music. Looks cool.
this music gives you powers
Great discover, I'm not a big fan of djent, but really like this. Looking forward for news about this band!
Lyrics plz
Lyrics are on bandcamp
this is absolutely outstanding. liked their first release but this is over the top
the vocalist from slice the cake would go well with them
yeah i totally agree
underrated comment
you're right ! this band is so awesome technically but the vocals ! I don't like a lot
Mehdi El Hajjouji especially for this shokran album i mean if you listen to odyssey to the west then it sounds like it would mix well
what's wrong with the vocals?

Brandon Balazs that comment is so under-appreciated XD
@@brandonbalazs1539 LMFAOOOO agreed with MegaRoflFilms, this is one of the most underrated comments I've ever seen on TH-cam. Ace work my friend.
Underrated comment
Damn... How had I never heard of this band before? Amazing music!
this is Dope..Great production😉
The intro of Revival of Darkness at 28:31 is so fucking good, their voices are so smooth and sexy damn
reminds me alot of The HAARP Machine 🔥❤
wish that band would have stayed together years of hype for one album fucking come on

hilber hilber LOL calm dude are you dreaming? Courts work well there, hope you get some information before trash talking. I am law student too
ne mal insanlar var amk
did you assassinate the russian ambassador
mac c. nope. its a american spy
DAMN IT HASN'T EVEN STARTED AND I'M HYPED ALREADY
Maybe I'm just not seeing them but where are the Within the Ruins influence comments?
Born of Osiris is a much bigger influence, I'd say. I mean other than being choppy and djenty I don't really hear WtR.
Anomic Oh shit you're really right. I think I was zoned out by then. Yeah that's classic WtR. You got me.
I thought this exactly when I first heard this rift. Total iconic riff choppiness that Within the Ruin does.
Honestly I can hear a lot of BTBAM influences.
I think this type of music shall be called hybrid death metal because it has oriental metal, death metal, death core and melodic metal mixed in each song. Its a hybrid masterpiece. Love you guys!
good shit
Amazing guitar tone ,, Amazing album ,... Congrats Shokran >>>>
shokran... afwan! o-: shokran means thanks in arabic lol afwan means your welcome :^D
