The BU is one of the most ambitious and engaging yet freaking confusing storylines I’ve seen. The BU starts before Wings with two albums before and the song I Need You. V’s got one of the most detailed and intense story lines, he really shows his acting ability. The story just pulls you in like a big giant mystery of sound and video. Live version he was so nervous to do his first solo song. He’d never had as much focus in live shows as some of the others so he was just a ball of nerves in backstage footage. He nailed it.

Tae is very into jazz, old school jazz. He puts a modern spin on it, but he would have fit in so well with the jazz greats from the 40s.
YES, "Stigma" my all time favorite solo song from V!! His voice in this song kills me every single time I hear it and the high notes, OMFG, takes my breath away!! Now John, if you want to "deep dive" into V's voice...you should react to Attack/Rise of Bangtan...he growls!!!! LOL! And "Jump", oh man oh man!!

Sweet night & winter bear are 2 of my favs. His voice to me is like a cup of hot cocoa, a cozy fire & a warm loving embrace all at once. So comforting to me in my times of darkness. Since my husband died this year, Tae sings me to sleep every night and brings me much needed comfort. 💜🙂

I met Tae from his performance and OST in Hwarang. Being the Wings era, this was the first song I heard from the BTS discography and since then I'm an Army.
V is co-composer and co-writer of this song; in an interview for Weverse Magazine, pointed out that he wrote it thinking of him younger self as a reflection on difficult times he went through due to her decisions, but being part of the BU they also included concepts that incorporate her into the story (although some take their conclusions without understanding that it is part of the BU).
V is a baritone with a naturally deep and soulful voice; It also has its own style and great versatility. It has the widest range of the group.
If it were a question of describing his voice we would have to point out that it is deep, soulful, sharp, light, moving, sweet, powerful, aggressive, raspy, that it reaches quite high notes (even for some tenors)...
Stigma was released in 2016, back then an analysis was published that indicates that its range is 3 octaves 5 tones and 1 semitone. In 2021, reviewing videos on the internet where they analyze their voice during concerts and presentations, they conclude that it reaches 4 octaves.

Full disclosure V is my bias. The way I describe his voice to other people that don't know his music is that it's like a warm cuddly hug and it just makes me feel good.
“Stigma” explores the tragic backstory of V’s fictional self in the BTS Universe. His character is arrested after he kills his abusive father to protect himself and his sister.
Although the “Stigma” storyline is fictional, its raw emotion and anguish couldn’t be more real. V’s lyrics express the growing pains of youth as well as a sense of frustration many young people experience. “I wanted to portray someone young,” he said. “still growing up, crying out in anguish-that feeling of wanting to thrash about and tell the world you’re tired and fed up.” .. “Stigma,” however, is just the first chapter in a story, and that story has a happy ending. V said, “the young person in ‘Stigma’ passed through ‘Singularity’ and ‘Inner Child’ and grew up.”
The 1st time i heard Stigma, i could not get enough of it and listened on repeat after. Its a Beast of a song 💜 and V just owned it.

- Yes, V is a natural barytone but because the other vocalists' voices are that much higher, he's had to train his voice to go higher, giving him an amazing range.

A song V wrote entirely by himself is "Scenery". He wrote and produced "Snow Flower" with his one of his best friends, Peakboy. He wrote "4 o'Clock" with RM, who said it was a 50/50 collaboration. IIRC, for his other solo songs, he worked with producers and/or songwriters.

The BU started when I Need U came out in the hyyh era, so a year before the Wings era. The Wings album has its own vibe that’s kind of dark and alluring, which did fit the concept of the BU.
V did write the lyrics for Stigma, with ofc others credited as well for their input in it. The lyrics actually fit his character in the BU so well, even Namjoon pointed out the similarities. However the song is also personal to Kim Taehyung in that lyrics respectively. V put his emotions and secrets hidden within the lyrics. The song is art. Everyone has different interpretations for it.

That slide up to that note is soooo good but then picking it up after a breath?! V!!! DAMN! I believe that V and RM wrote parts of it together. You are right Tae is an old soul; I think that's why I resonate with him so much. He's not my bias (that's Yoongi), but Tae, and Jimin, are my sub-bias' - leaning over Yoongi's shoulder to give me THOSE Looks (you know what I mean - you've seen them). (The rest of the group is leaning over their shoulders, aiming to move up a row). You can see his old soul, everytime you look in his eyes; in his fashion sense; in everything he does. And it truly makes me smile.
And he is a beautiful baritone, but so often we don't get to hear it. Which is such a shame. He usually sings higher to match with the others, which he does beautifully. But when he sings in his natural baritone - that is just... Amazing💜 But then to hit those high notes...💜

I'm not sure what the original, intended meaning of the song was, but it always feels like some apologizing to their siblings for not being there when their siblings needed them. Maybe guilt from following their dreams, and being so distant, almost leaving their siblings behind. Not being the older sibling they wanted to be - that they feel they should have been.

Lemme tell you. The moment that haunting cry came out I my soul smiled & sighed relief that the art form R&B styling has not died. Yep, largest scale range in BTS. It's probably one of the largest in pop music period. Or just period. Because I know his natural baritone voice isn't easy to find, its a diamond in the rough most definitely. Rather hard to find, and so amazing!

I love V. He has such a unique voice with so much soul. An interesting side note regarding his solo album. Every now and then he rejects a song from his album and releases it to ARMY on SM. Here’s a link to one he released, I think it was on Instagram stories. And then it was gone, but luckily some very special ARMY copied it and posted it to TH-cam. If this is an example of a song he’s rejected, his album will be incredible.

Yes! When Joon was doing the breakdown of the Wings album on his Vlive, he talked in detail about all the other solo songs from the members. Tae’s the only one he doesn’t know much about and as you say, Joon said only Tae knows what it’s about. Many speculated it’s related to Tae’s story in the BU, which it may well be. But personally, I believe, it has double meanings (hidden) that only Tae knows, and has never divulged

Love your reactions. I believe that V’s beautiful, unique, soulful voice is what gives BTS the edge over other groups. He is a baritone, not just a deep voice, but a deep, soothing, meaningful complex voice amidst the tenors which adds the unique personality of this group which I absolutely love. His style is reminiscent of the 60’s groups like the Temptations and the 4 Tops and Marvin Gaye. I can see him doing something in their styles, this is of course just my opinion. Even his personal style of dressing reminds me of those groups. Every single member of BTS is a powerhouse, no weak links. 💜💜

I sing early music professionally (Renaissance mostly), I can tell you that counter-tenors are normally baritones. Once in a while you hear him break out into an aria, I wouldn't be surprised if in his vocal training he's done some full out classical.

Hola mi niño,en realidad soy una mamá ARMY mayor de 51 años y quiero mucho a estos 7 chicos, especialmente a V, bueno por Tae conocí a BTS por 2018 con una horrible enfermedad y secuelas,mi hija ya era ARMY y los escuchaba y me había cambiado mucho la vida ,no quería escuchar nada de música que escuchaba cuando era sana,las secuelas me dejaron muy dañada más sicologicamente .
No he entrado de lleno al BU que se basa en el webtoon "Save Me" y un poco de la sicología de ese libro, pero sobre la sicología de la adolescencia principalmente por lo que mi hija me explica, que es un poco enredado, pero para mí entrar al Universo de BTS es como la canción "Mikrokosmo" que es mi favorita,es como algo de ellos y ARMY y no es malo,es sano ,yo no tenía ganas de vivir así como estaba, pero por temor a Dios no atente contra mí.
Cuando vi el drama "hwarang" ahí me interesó BTS ya que como estaba acostada por no poder tener la movilidad de antes veo muchos dramas Coreanos y Chinos .

His vocals are on point. His range!! He has the widest range in bts. If you want to listen more of his solo stuff he has 2 kdrama ost, sweet night and Christmas tree, one with Jin called It's definitely you, he also did a song with RM called 4 o' clock. Other solos which he wrote and produce are scenery and winter bear. He also has a song called Snow flower which he did with one of his best friends. Also please could you react to V's amazing vocals? He was only 17 when they had their debut, so counting back years as a trainee, he was around 14-15 at the time of audition? 👀 The most beautiful part of Kim Taehyung is that he is true to himself, unchanging, never wavering from his essence. V grew up with his grandparents till he did the audition and selected as a trainee. So his grandparents raised him for about 14 close to 16 years. His younger brother and sister grew up with his parents. His dad would come over every weekend but he never mention his mother or siblings tagging along. He once told that he is much closer to his BTS members than he is with his own brother and sister. And we all know the BTS members love and care for each other but also are very protective of each other.
He never could, being the older brother, do that for his own siblings and he probably felt some guilt because of that. It wasn't his fauld but you can't change what you're feeling, rightly or not. Because of his choice he couldn't be with his grandparents when they past away. Well not how you can be when you have another job. So I think it's about growing up, the struggles and the guilt justified or not.

RM wouldn't and couldn't explain because he revealed V wrote this song and it wasn't for him to explain and I agree. But the song is a part of the album Wings. Wings has a lot of solo's that makes you think over things.
