Some people don't understand that Begin was probably JK's hardest concert performance. Performing 4(?) high-energy songs with only 2 mins break to change wardrobe then proceeds to sing and dance a solo with MINIMAL backibg track. I will never ever forget when he said verbatim: "I WAS DYING EVERYTIME I PERFORM BEGIN". This man has my respect a million times over. No one has the right to ask any more of him when it comes to performance. Astounding and absolutely legendary.

He sang this live after singing about 3-4 upbeat songs with the group. He actually mentioned that he was dying at end of the song.
Yeah with Wings tour they really went all out , like ALMSOT every song had full choreography back to back for 2-3 hours . They don’t do that AS much these days but yeah that tour was def a lot

Begin was several years before My Time (2016 vs 2020). It was produced by Tony Esterly, who is also listed as a co-writer with David Quinones and RM. JK was just turned 19 when it was released in October 2016, so probably only 18 when he recorded it.
In the lyrics, JK refers to himself as a 15 yrs old moving to the big city. So 13 for international age. I can't even imagine - A lot of upheaval and pressure for one so young!
Yes, and then to be designated as the Main Vocalist for the group at that age too, meaning doing most of the vocal guides and helping others with their voices - not just singing and dancing. There is a video somewhere of him discussing this in detail.
One should never be selfish with knowledge. The boys constantly support and help each other. During In The Soop, there was one scene where Suga & JK went to the campervan to work on their upcoming song. JK working while Suga is looking on like a proud papa is just so heartwarming!

I would definitely recommend being around and having notifications on for his birthday in case he does a live. Last year's live was absolutely wild. He basically took any and all requests and sang a ton of songs and at one point there were like 20 million people. It was so amazing.

Jungkook is the main vocalist and at the beginning of BTS career he used to rap as well alot. But as the main vocalist he needed to stop rapping because it was just too much. So they changed his duties but he is a great rapper. That rapping with Jessie (the girl) was a card for time on the cell phone, lots of Korean kids use it for data. In fact Jungkook is such a good rapper that when both RM and Suga were away for illnesses he took over their rapping parts. So you might have noticed that in the rapping compilation. I think I have mentioned this before but because of his rapping skills he also makes all the guides for their songs.
He really is the golden maknae. He has a heart of Gold. He’s so talented and so soft. His feelings toward his Hyung the members is so pure genuine soft GOLD!!

But Bighit and Bang pd asked him to become a main vocal when he was 13 in international age because no one can be a main vocal except JK. There’s no main vocal who can sing, dance and rap like Jungkook in the world. He’s our Korean’s pride and national main vocal. He’s our Korean’s golden maknae because he became a trainee at 13 and debuted 15 as a main vocal of Bts.

Happy Birthday to Jungkook!! As far as the rap compilation... Jungkook is actually a sub rapper for the group, and is quite skilled. When BTS debuted, Jungkook used to rap on most of their songs, and over the years he's filled for the rappers when they were unable to perform. He raps less now, and it's always a treat when rapper Jungkook comes out to play.
That particular Begin live didn't seem to show the immense footwork as well as another one, but it's okay. J-Hope told him that he really did difficult dance with that song, and he was already tired when he performed it because it was after a few other group songs. Singing and dancing like that at the same time is Crazy! Begin was really written for his Hyungs, who practically raised him from the age of 13 (International). Half joking - 13 to 19 were my years from H**L with my daughter, so they couldn't have had an easy job of it and all the Hyungs were still pretty young too. lol
I’m still in the middle of that H**L with my daughter, but ironically I don’t have that problem with my son (thank God). I’m hoping my other 3 sons are more like him and not my daughter.

Happy Birthday to Our Vocal King! JK is really well rounded. He is incredibly humble. As mentioned by JK himself, you can really see each of the personalities in him. They kept him grounded and helped make him such an amazing human. About JK’s voice….we don’t call him the Harmony and Ab Lib king for nothing. They are all such talented artist and bring their own style to the group, but Jk is the glue to the group. He versatility is just phenomenal. There truly isn’t any limit to what he can and will do in the future.

This song is about his love for his 6 hyungs and I think 'My Time' is about whether he can find time for himself as he feels like his whole life has being continuously filmed. JK’s solo songs are all different genres. Pop, R&B, jazz. I think his album will be different genres. He has hinted at that. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if he has a rock song or 2. Probably not heavy metal but acoustic or alternative type I could completely see him doing. He listens to all different types of music. Jungkook definitely has a lot more potential than he shows in BTS songs but I also think a lot of things he does are not easy at all but he makes them look effortless. I cannot wait for his solo album. We’ve been waiting for it for years now. lol. I still feel so sad when I think about him deleting the masterpiece that was decalcomania. Also, yes he’s a great rapper! Many of us would love to see him rap again.

An alchemist master of vocal discipline, that´s who he is :-)
When I listen to JK, first thing that comes to my mind automatically is impeccably measured balance in his vocal execution. Yes, his vocal tone is beautiful ( to my ears at least), yes, he has perfect pitch, yes, his breath control and technique are amazing, and yes, he is consistent and emotionally incredibly mature and engaging, but you can have all of that and yet fail miserably at calibrating. One nano particle of any given element too much and it would be too much, one ingredient too little and it would deflate or feel hollow. He just bloody owns that skill of vocal calibrating. He UNDERSTANDS how vocal execution of any composition he works on should go. Not sure if it´s something he had to work on as an acquired asset or if it is his intuitive talent that guides him but he is just unbeatable when it comes to vocalizing. So precise and so tasteful, so smoothly competent and polished, so devoid of any egoistic self-serving tendencies. He is an ultimate pro and his humbleness as artist goes hand in hand with his impeccably measured approach towards singing.
What Jungkook is as a singer is the same what Hobi is for me as a dancer - both skilled beyond measure but above all strong team players and stern professionals. If let lose, they could easily blow the rest out of the water, at any time, but it is not in their nature to show off. They chose to blend and amalgamate instead, all for the benefit of the bigger whole.
There is so much that goes totally noticed about Jeon Jungkook. His skills are beastly .....knowing his voice well enough, trusting his voice well enough, honoring his voice and being confident with it.... What he CAN do with his voice and what he CHOOSES to is what sets him apart from the rest and that´s what makes him so incredibly exceptional. There is so much to discover about Jeon Jungkook. You barely scratched the surface :-)
Kpop, pop, rock vibe, soul, R&B, neo soul, jazz, country, Korean trot, ballads.. he can do it all. High notes ( Dope) , low notes ( Decalcomania) , belting ( Falling), breathy ( Oh holly night) , ad libs ( ... hm like their whole discography), harmonies ( ... bread and butter of his work) , runs , scatting, rap ....
If you want to see what he is capable of, just open some of his vlive recordings - all unrehearsed, on spot impromptu sung rawer than raw flawless vocals. So many people question his abilities or doubt his vocal prowess and yet nobody bothers to connect the dots, ROFL - he is principally the only one that is regularly singing
a capella, the only one doing his mini vlive concerts, the only one put on spot when somebody asks them to sing randomly here and there, unprepared and without crutches of production trickery smoothing it out.
You may be on to something when you said he is glue of the whole group ( vocally). I may add he is not just glue, he is also a solid foundation the rest is built upon, he is a roof that shelters, seals and rounds the edges, he is pillars that carry and support, he is strong clean walls all fancy glittery ornaments can be hung on, he is air that circulates through their AC, he is water in their pipes.
Jeon Jungkook is indispensable. Just because BTS songs are written as they are, he plays his part. Just because he has almost no belting parts, doesn´t mean he can´t belt the heck out of you, just because high notes are on somebody else main menu doesn´t mean he can ´t hit all those crazy notes majority of Kpopies losing their minds over. Sometimes I am almost stunned that all majority of reactors can see and hear ( = value and find worthwhile mentioning ) is high notes.

Begin is my fave solo track of his. There is something deeply melancholic in that song I really love and contrast of deep lyrical content with upbeat dance pace is refreshing and unexpected. His dance performance is a totally different chapter because DANG how on earth does he even do that. And yes, he sings live. Hobi is their dance teacher and mentor and he once uttered Begin had the most challenging choreo they ever did:-)

Yes yes yes!!! You described him so perfectly! I have tried to to say the same thing about JK but you said it much more eloquently than I ever have. He has complete control of his voice. He can do whatever he wants to with it & sing anything anywhere anytime. I too am always so impressed with his control. In his harmonies & ad libs especially he never over powers any of the other singers or takes over a song even though he could but he blends in so perfectly & really adds so much to their songs. As someone that sings & used to take vocal lessons & perform the belts were always so easy for me. If you have a good voice & it’s in your range belts are the easiest thing to do. But controlled singing & not over powering that is difficult & so much more impressive to me. That takes real skill & technique.

Ik they have other writers listed with RM but RM said that JK was suppose to write a song and JK knew what he wanted to write but didn't know how to put his thought down so he went to seek out RM and RM wrote it and then showed it to him and JK said it was exactly what he wanted to say. This was out of the mouth of RM. Maybe the others had some input but RM wrote it tho.

In BTS early songs JK rapped a lot more. And he was as good at it as he is virtually everything else. Plus he has his own style, adding another tone to the unique sounds of the Rap Line.
It's also a fact that many ARMY would love to see his rap featured more, these days. And it would be a pleasure to see him combine his beautiful vocals and his amazing rap.💜 In the meantime we get to see them in their older songs.

I kinda think that songs like this and my time was given to JK because only his voice can make the song sounds good. You should react to “Still With You”, written and produced by JK himself during pandemic. He gave this song as a gift to army during pandemic but the song is soo good, my most favorite song and it’s not even on spotify. It’s only released in soundcloud.

The 2 songs, not written at the same time, (My Time, Map of the soul, about his self searching) Begin was his first solo, on the Wings album(they all had the freedom to make their own song) and the song is about the guys, about his gratitude and love for the guys that helped him grow into who he is
Love your reaction, I totally agree with you said about his voice, he has a great voice but is not the singer that looks to always show it, maybe because he's modest, maybe because he loves to dance and his dance is like a cardio exercise :)) and yes, most of his songs are pop-dance, but not all of them.
You should watch his fancam of begin… it’s impossible to see the insane footwork of the whole dance … it’s nuts lol but totally worth watching.. especially bc you can hear him singing live and the different adlibs he adds in just always changes… it’s a lot of fun and jhope said it was the most difficult choreo any of them had done at that time… bc he’s singing live and literally his feet are moving so fast and he’s jumping and sliding all over the stage… it’s crazy and think you’ll be surprised still
Some of the rap examples are more melodic raps.. similar to what jhope does sometimes I think what you were talking about
I loved your reaction to this and your insight into the music. Jungkook’s feelings towards himself and the other members are so touching. He credits the others for making him who he is. They were there to set him on the right track through his adolescent years. He really lucked out when he signed with BigHit. He had the best role models growing through those difficult years. He started out thinking what’s mine is mine and what’s yours is mine but they sorted him out and helped him mature into the fine young man he is now. He didn’t end up writing this himself but the writers caught his feelings beautifully. My Time is equally touching. I’m sure you’ll get to that.

Jk sings crazy ad libs in every single live performance…. The camera isn’t always on him for it though so people really miss out on it so often lol until you really know his voice and parts he is ad libbing before you really hear how much of it he is doing

Begin is from 2016 album Wings and it's about him and his deep love and gratitude for his members My Time is from 2020 album MOT7 Jungkook writes quite openly about his personal thoughts and feelings that's probably why you feel like they are similar they are extremely personal to him
The music is amazing and I love the lyrics too. I remember the story RM told about this. He said JK wanted a song for his hyungs and wanted to write it, but he was having so much trouble writing it, he went to RM for help. He told RM what he wanted to express and RM wrote the wonderful lyrics for him. He sang and danced incredibly hard choreo and killed it every time.

For me, I totally disagree about part tha topic are similar, this are totally different songs, this song come out in 2016 on Wings album, and it was his feelings from begining in band and how he looks at another members, how he grew up with them and how much this mean for him. My time come on 2020 on MOTS7 and is song about fast live that he experience in band, how different it looks from regular live most people have, and how he want find time for "normal" things, etc. Like topic are about his live but totally different emotions, different look at world, topic also quiet different one is song for his band members and his feelings and second is his thought about his live as Idol and how he see his live and how he want to go about it in future.

Both My Time and Begin are autobiographical, but JK is sharing his thoughts about two different parts of his life
'My Time' is JK singing about his crazy, fast-paced life in BTS - a life started very young - and his difficulties coming to terms with it and making a life for himself somehow within the madness
'Begin' is about his love and gratitude for his older brothers ('hyung' in Korean) in BTS. How well they treated him and helped him mature and become his own person. How he saw them hurting from hate, overworking, stress - and wants them to know their hurt becomes his pain due to his love for them. But after the tears, JK knows they will still smile and 'fly' together because they have each other. RM wrote the lyrics because JK was still very young (17?) and was having trouble expressing himself on his own, but RM said in a VLive that everything he wrote were all things JK had actually said to the other members during meetings and heart-to-heart conversations. RM wrote the lyrics using JKs own words 💜
I hope you give 'Still With You' a listen, it's my favorite JK solo and has such meaning. It was a free gift to ARMYs when their tour was cancelled from Covid and nobody could go out during lockdowns. JK was letting us know he still thought of ARMY despite the separation and how much he looked forward to seeing us again. It's a song of longing.

- Originally, JK not taking part on ddaeng. His rap on ddaeng stage are only special occasions which originally its RM's part. In that performance, all BTS member participate taking parts on ddaeng.
