    Thank you. Every year when I use the Shop Vac I need to review. I like learning how to keep the machine in good condition, so it’ll last longer!

    Great video, I have the filter falling off of the retaining ring. I will use duct tape. I have my Vac for about 6 years and used it about 4 times as dust blows out when I vacuum my truck. Thanks for the valuable information. By far the best amount of information on ShopVac. I will post model number and result after I secure my paper filter.

    Thanks - this was helpful! Especially the part about being able to use a large bag filter without having to use the pleated filter -- and the duct tape trick was great as well.

      I always use them both because you never know when the bag may break. Then you get this dust cloud spewing all over, coming from your machine which is supposed to be cleaning and not spreading dust particles.

    now I cant remember what the shop vacs model or even name was but the general consensus is that any old craftsman vac is the best vac, why well I had a used craftsman vac that was probably 14 yrs old and it worked like a champ for over 6 yrs used over 20 times a week because I made decent money vaccuming out cars and guess what i used that vacuum and i loved it definetly buy the old craftsman vacs

    Thanks for aaaall the great info. Uuuuhhh... I’ve the spongy sleeve deallio which was uber helpful when the washer leaked onto our floor. Cannot recall the pleated paper gig though... Must’ve gotten lost in the mix. But the even better share was your vac’s bags! Uh nope I did not realize! So Thanks againAGAINagain for such a wonderfully informative video. Thank You!!

      @@AroundTheHome1 Yes they do work ... I have been using them for years and they are interchangeable. Why wouldn't they be interchangeable the company that makes the bags have double or triple the market making them interchangeable. Don't forget there was craftsman in the market too. Besides all the little guys. Chances are the actual plastic tubs and heads may be manufactured by one company and logos added later.

    I have the smaller hose you mentioned on my shop vac..Is there an adapter to be able to connect the larger hose to the base of the ship vac?

    • @AroundTheHome1
      @AroundTheHome1  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure what you mean by the base of the shop vac. If you just mean the shop vac, then every one that I have ever come across can take either the small or large hose. The small hose actually has the larger end on it.

      Annette, I have traditionally found that the Black Friday units are special made for Black Friday and are crap. I have tried that and had many failures. Maybe that was different a few years back and better now. I will just put it this way. I would make sure that the Black Friday model is a normal model that they have been carrying all year and not a special model. I was given an used Shop Vac. There’s a red nozzle on the top but I don’t know what it does? Also there’s an opening close to the nozzle that looks like a hose could fit in it but it’s not in the canister. It’s on the top where the motor is housed. What are these for?

    Need to suck up pool sand from filter ..... bag? Foam filter?

    • @AroundTheHome1
      @AroundTheHome1  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The bags are no good if their is moisture there. But depending on how dry the sand is, it could fly through the foam filter. Sorry, that doesn't sound like it helps, does it?

    I still get some dust out the exhaust when doing remodeling even when using the yellow bags. Is that normal? Not a ton, but enough that you have to cover everything in plastic or end up cleaning it all off.

    • @AroundTheHome1
      @AroundTheHome1  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      At some point you got dust into the motor I am guessing. At this point try taking the top off and blow it out really good with an air compressor. Run the top of the shop vac while holding it after cleaning and see if any dust is still coming out. You might have to take it apart a little to clean it better, but normally you can get it clean without taking it apart. Clean out the tank and make sure there are no leaks or holes in the bag.

    • @AroundTheHome1
      @AroundTheHome1  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh, and to answer your question all the way, no that's not normal. When mine is working properly with a bag there is zero dust coming out.

    • @icawn
      @icawn 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zip tie around the bag port.

  • @vinceking7878
    @vinceking7878 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wrong! The cartridge filter clogs because it works better and catches the dirt instead of letting it it through the imnards and into the air. Bags can be useful. For fine dust like drywall you can run a specialized bag and a normal cartridge filter.
    Actually is was a good Video really.

      That's exactly what he just said....listen Linda honey honey listen...lol ref. LISTEN LINDA video here on TH-cam. Little boy argues with mom.like his dad does! Namaste have a great day...I'm learning how to be a dude. I am a widower and without funds to pay people to fix things I've fallen off a roof onto bed of my dodge ram 1500 on lift kit with a corrugated bed liner and a ladder, I've been electrocuted by my above ground pool pump sump pump and I've hammered the tip of my index finger so hard I caused the tip of my finger and part of my fingernail to turn all the way inside out I turned it back around pushed it back myself cussed like a sailor and kept working crying cursing my husband for dying and i hoped he was happy and laughed because we always used to say sure ill go and take the dog for a walk although i have a fever and you are doing nothing im gunna end up dead from fever and then you will be sorry..we grew up as friends since 18 months old and dated married had 6 kids im not lazy or weak I've broken the small bone on the top of my right foot and set it myself wrapped it and put my rubber boot back on and kept working I sandbagged an entire pallet of sand by myself in the middle of a storm as well as clearing city storm drains that were clogged with tree branches to save our homes from flooding as the water was so high it was in my back sunroom coming in through my sliding glass door and in the front yard 1/2 inch from flooding my garage attached to bedroom and only 10 feet from front doors cars were floating down the street..so I am learning and fearless except about gas and electrical stuff..I wish there was a school I could attend to learn basic repair tune ups oil changes fence building refrigerator repair basic plumbing like hardwiring a replacement garbage disposal ...any suggestions? I'm not lazy just need some dude advice guys know how to fix everything...please give me any advice on how to go about learning how to do these things..thanks. peace.

    Don’t buy the everyday shop vac brand. Buy rigid. Had 2 of the grey and blue ones both came with many problems. First one replaced the stitch 3 times. Motor needed constant lubricant because it has a sleeve bearing and lasted about 2 years with normal use. Second one the motor in 5 months. I’m not using them commercially just every now and then clean up. Had my rigid for 8 years now and had no problem with it.
