      Everyone is trying to sell you something 24 hrs a day...They also hope for you to break it so it can end up in a landfill so you can buy another Made in China, well until all the industry in China gets to everyone has cancer levels like America. Africa is the next stop for Big corporations to poison. Cancer follows the industry. Remember the owners did not want to relocate to China to save money on labor and give away jobs. They were getting out of dodge before all the poison kicked in our land, air, and water. Humanity in 2021 has to go back to the manual ways of doing things. Earth is sick and god is going to show back up to flood, cook, freeze and burn this place. The virus known as humans always survive like rodents and roaches. The most important thing he covered was safety - electricity is a wonderful thing even today but it is nasty if you throw water on it and it needs to flow through one's body...Cardiac problems are the new normal following big pharma' s golden goose jab. What else can go wrong? Avoid anyone being a salesperson at all costs. We need to spend less money on things we don't need. I wish you all the best in whatever this life has to offer in the coming future...its going to get worse before getting better.

    67 year old widow , water in basement from storm Elsa today, haven't used the shop vac in some time to remove water in basement. Thanks for the excellent video refresher course. Thumbs up. Many thanks !!!
    Actually had to run to Home Depot as the pump I had didn't work. The seasoned staff at home depot were clueless , useless as to where I would find the wet/vac water pump accessory. Needless to say one is best to use their own devices. I found it and attached it, good to go. Thanks again

I had a rug I was trying to clean and it was too big for my top load washing machine & I didn’t have a carpet cleaner so I ended up washing it in the bathtub but I didn’t have a way to dry it, it was soaking wet. I live in an apartment so I have no way to leave it out to dry so I’m like great what do I do. If the pond is deep you can use a transfer pump or a sump pump till they don't pick up water anymore and then finish up with a vac. I believe it will be much faster because you won' have to stop the vac and start the pump then stop the pump and start the vac and so on and so on. Get my drift.

      They make a foam filter specifically for water pickup. I'd recommend using that just in case you pick up any other junk along with water. In my experience at least, you're never sucking up perfectly clean water and a good amount of gunk gets stuck on the foam filter that may have otherwise blown through the vac motor which isn't good for it. Wet pickup foam filter, very durable/washable/reusable: www.amazon.com/Ridgid-Genuine-Replacement-Application-Vacuums/dp/B00LBHOI2C

      You don't need the pump unless you're sending the water up vertically (e.g., out of a basement) and you don't have a sump pump. If you have a sump pump, roll the vac to the sump pump, remove the cap at the bottom side of the vac and quickly insert a sock over the hole if you want (as a dirt filter). Gravity works great! No extra water pump needed. ~ Isa, Tiny House Northeast

    You can actually run the pump and vac at the same time which I did when my basement took on water - about as much as shown in your video. It would not work for a large amount of water or a body of water like a bathtub then as you indicate it would have to be a 2 step process.

    does removing the filter before performing a wet vacuum risk spoiling the motor? like in case there are debris in the liquid or what not. I am currently using a Karcher wet vacuum and it seems like it is recommended to keep the filter intact for wet vacuum

      I haven't had any issues with vacuuming water this way.

    This was a really good video but I'm having trouble finding the pump that you attached to the shop vac. Do you know if it's still available and what exactly it would be called?

      I am not sure if they still sell them, they should. I bought it at Home Depot.

    I have questions. 1. If you have a sump pump, why did your basement flood? 2. Did you install the nozzle that directs the water downward in your shopvac, this is required on mine so water doesn’t go into the motor. 3. Not so important, but if you have an external pump why not pump it in a toilet or out a window?

    Is it safe to clean clogged gutter with it? Which will have leaves wet gunk and standing water. Will the gunk or leaves get into to motor If I vaccum with standard filter being removed.

    • @HomeOwnerRepair
      @HomeOwnerRepair  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't attempt it with this. I typically clean mine by hand.

    Can you use the external pump simultaneously with the vacuum as you pump out water?

    Sometimes my backyard gets e lot of water. Can I use the pump while I'm using the vacuum. That way I can just vacum and it pumps the water out as I go?

    Do I absolutely need a pump? I have a leak and it went to the room next door and soaked up a big portion of the carpet so i won’t be vacuuming up a lot of water.

    • @HomeOwnerRepair
      @HomeOwnerRepair  ปีที่แล้ว

      No the pump just makes it easier to empty, but it is not required to vacuum up water.

  • @83mgroux

    Can you use the vacuum to suck up water thr same time as the pump is on, pumping out water while you suck up water? Or do I have to do one first then the other?

    • @HomeOwnerRepair
      @HomeOwnerRepair  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      no because the pump pumps the water out too fast.

    How do you dry vac with it? Seems like everything was blowing out of blower port.

    • @HomeOwnerRepair
      @HomeOwnerRepair  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you are dry vacuuming you should be running an air filter. Also make sure that the ball inside where the blower motor is is moving freely.

    Could this pump push water uphill 8 feet? We use a wet dry ridgid 15 gallon vac to drain the last of a swimming pool for repairs and you are right about how heavy a full vac is this may save Us about 2 or 3 hours of Heavy grunt work

    When soaking up the water, Is it normal for the shop vac to get loud like it has a blockage similar to when normal sucking like it would on a towel? I got scared it was gonna break.
