I don't know if you noticed, there are a number of metal signs with a picture of an animal on it and these are scattered throughout the enclosures as well on top of them. These show what type of animals that were living there at that time. I saw this from a channel called the Out Seers who also explored this zoo

Great views for us 70+ folks, whose knees & ankles have seen their best years. From opening credits of the satilite view to the quality of the finished view, All top shelf stuff !! I’ve watched you float various rivers and watched you visit various small towns. Always a “like” for this old Man and a thumbs up ❤️👍

Very interesting, thank you so much for sharing this adventure with us! We caught a glimpse of you in the reflection from the map sign near the beginning of the video. That was a treat. Looking forward to seeing more great videos. Safe travels.

My father was born in Cisco in 1925 and probably went to this zoo as a small child. His family was very poor, so if it cost much to go in, he may not have been able. I wish he was still alive to ask him about it as he never mentioned it, however he did talk about going swimming in the pool. In fact I've been to the pool when I was very young in the early 1960s. I don't remember much about it other than a big slide out in the middle it seems. Thank you for sharing this little hike video.

Pretty sad about the graffiti. I rather look at the natural instead of the crap some want to call art.

My Dad was in the Boy Scouts. They spend the night in the zoo sleeping above the cages of the animals

I was Born and raised in Cisco, We spent many hours at the lake. They didn't show the old swimming pool, at the time it was the largest concrete swimming pool in the world. The skate rink and snack bar burned down many years ago. Secret, the dam is hollow and all the kids would walk thru the levels, it was really dark and scary.

I spend most of my time in Cisco and it’s such an interesting little town with the abandoned zoo, Hilton hotel, and (used to be) world’s largest pool! :)

So if you had researched this, what happened to the animals that lived here??? Great footage of the area, by the way, but how is the "swimming pool" , or dam having any information about an old, and now abandoned zoo??????

There is an old zoo in the Town of Lampasas Texas that few know about. I know because LAMPASAS was where I was born and raised. Graduated in 1991 😂 !

Grew up in nearby Ranger. I never heard of this place before. Although we knew mountain lions lived in the hilly terrain.

Keeping animals in captivity for entertainment is cruel and inhumane. The abandoned zoo is sad and creepy.

It’s tragic that, because of the population boom in Sub Saharan, or black Africa, it’s expected that within a few decades the only large animals will be in animal parks. It could be only animal parks on other continents.

The funny thing is that many people making those comments will go out and eat a burger later. Mass slaughter is apparently better than a zoo. Btw, zoos help keep certain species alive that otherwise wouldn't exist.
