    In the lighting of the Wizard's shop, you cannot tell that anything was repainted. Vango must use super-intense lights so it appeared to match worse than in natural light. Just shows what letting professionals work on your car can do!

    • @GrandMoffJoseph
      @GrandMoffJoseph 2 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      That's pretty common, at least in my experience in the detail biz over the years. A good detail/paint shop will have intense lighting, which of course is needed for the work they do. So even minor differences tend to stand out more. But under natural sun (or most garage lighting) you'd never see it.

    • @duckytheduck3127
      @duckytheduck3127 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      it's not the intense lighting, it's the high CRI lights that do the trick, i bet that wizard's light don't even have CRI ratings while the detail shop's lights are about 90 or 95 CRI

    the yellow came out great, I wish they had painted that one panel that had been painted before so it matched the new work all along the bottom. You have 3 minor shade differences now and it could have just been 2. Would have been worth a few hundred to repaint it also. Other than that, well spent $2000. • @privateparty4900
      @privateparty4900 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@2ndGenBen Floating is skipping the second clutch disengagement. I wouldn't do it on any transmission that doesn't weigh at least a 1000lbs... and even then most companies don't want you floating their trucks. Double clutching used to be required before synchromesh transmissions came out: so most cars before 1960. There's no reason you can't do with a synchronized transmission though, it's just less work for the synchronizers. Drivers were often asked to double clutch in endurance racing. It's not faster, it's just less wear. If you keep revs matched (near enough) before you select the next gear, worst case scenario is essentially the same wear you would have had for the shift without. Get it right and it's impossibly low shifter effort and zero synchro wear. It's guilt free downshifting, and really noticeable at higher rpms in lower gears where rpm change is greater and the synchros have to work harder to accelerate the clutch plate, inputshaft, and countershaft.

    Looks like a typical "big major" on the F355, where various age issues have crept up that previous owners didn't address. Water pump, hoses, plugs and wires, etc. I'm not sure I saw headers and cats on this, but mine included those too and it was $5k for just those two parts. The major wasn't even the end of it--shortly after my major service, the water pump failed, the radiator fans died, the thermostat began to fail and the rear shocks began to leak. A year later, the Fabspeed headers' ceramic coating failed and had to be redone, and although the coating was warrantied, I ate the R&R labour cost out of pocket.
    Most of these have improved fixes, especially the water pump and the rad fans. With all the original problems addressed/improved, the car became much more reliable later in my ownership.

    Yep - the money on the F355 seems worth it. :-) The only too bad thing is the timing of services between it and the 348 - be nice if the engine out majors were separated out by 2-3 years (so you have a little more breathing room between the majors and one is always available to be driven while the other is being serviced). Is it me, or is the F355 quieter?
    Hopefully the Azure's wheel cap returns before you have to by another one.
