Knowing that January 6 would've been an infamous date in American history, I wanted to go to photograph, but the last thing I wanted was to get hurt or be in any way associated with a bunch of psychos. I'm sure I would've had gear damaged and/or stolen.
I spent over a year on the road with Bernie Sanders, shooting every single event every single day - spending months away from my wife and family. I understand the tumultuous work that Adam went through every day to get to the place he is in. He earned it, and my biggest congrats goes out to Adam.
If anyone would have become Bernie’s WH photographer it would have been you Bryan. I don’t see how Jared shooting a handful of Bernie events would have translated into him becoming the WH photographer if he had won. The level of arrogance from Jared is remarkable. I typically like Jared, but becoming the WH photographer takes years of pro-bono gigs, smiling when you don’t want to, shutting up (which Jared cannot do), and a full commitment of your time to campaign and government photography. And most of all, second to no other qualification, a metric crap ton of luck. Jared needs to simmer down, I really like him, but this was unbearable.
It really is important for artists to support each other. Kudos to him for getting the gig. Kudos to you for supporting him. Don't give up! Keep pushing to get that gig if that's what you want! Be well and peace out.

As a photographer, those images can have a lot of influence on how someone in a high position is perceived around the globe. Actually, Bernie had an official photographer that Fro acknowledges in one or more of his videos on the campaign trail. Fro was granted access (no small accomplishment) but was not the official guy.
As far as access, it depends on what security clearance he gets. If he gets a high enough one he will have access to shoot photos in areas that are normally off limits.
I tried to color correct a few videos of Trump- finally got the skin tone pointer where it should point but for some reason that made every other color move into a blue icy magenta world. Starting to suspect the big T is not in the sRGB gamut at all...

The world was a more peaceful and accepting place then. Now, everyone administers a purity test to allow access to their echo chamber. Photography is an art and a means of communication. A photo tells a story. If a tree falls and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? The same question is applicable. What good is a photo if its impact isn't shared because you drove out everyone who failed the purity test for "your side."

The next four years will be great for Sony and for mirrorless. This used to be a Canikon (or just Canon)-only game, DSLR-only. But since AFP or whichever news agency started shooting only with Sony, mirrorless is the new mainstream, including for those that said, ”you can't do pro, press, sports photography with mirrorless!!". Sony is simple to get, in its latest 3-4 FF body iterations (with the exception, as of Jan 2021, of the A7S III): stupid menus and lack of real touch control, mediocre ergonomics, but crazy fast, easy to use, reliable and AF, great (for ML) battery life, unlimited video, USB power. Not to mention the A9 and A9 II, currently Sony-only, fast readout sensors.
