    Thank you everyone for your nice comments and to those with constructive criticism! This is the 2nd video we've ever made and did not expect it to get the views it has. I just want to address some concerns people have.
    I have seen some comments about the rocks potentially exploding. With further research I did see that smooth river rocks have the potential to do so which we had no idea when making this. If you want to use the fire canisters please only use rocks that will work around fire like lava rocks. (I do not know for sure of any dollar tree rocks that will be 100% safe).
    If you are wanting to use rocks from the dollar store please buy the battery operated candles instead. We would hate for an accident to happen to anyone. We both appreciate constructive criticism so we can make this channel better. For our future diys we will make sure not to use fire and make sure the diy is safe for everyone even if we have no issues.
    Also we've had some concerns because the stain we used is not directly from the dollar store. That stain is what we had on hand and it is from Walmart. To get the same look from dollar tree products you can use watered down brown paint, stain pens, or shoe polish.
    Again thank you for watching and thank you to those who are patient and helping us learn while we grow this channel. ❤

      If there's a safety issue with rocks you don't have to spend much to get them I offten collect rocks while hiking you can make a portective ring around the pit out of clay or cement so the rocks aren't directly touching the flame... You can also use these ideas to make bird baths and planters

      Just make sure you open the fuel canister first and leave top loose before filling with rocks.i use the fuel all the time and have needed pliers to get some open. I live your video.

    Geez.. I just read some of the comments. Some of them were so harsh, while I was watching I was questioning safety as well. However they were great ideas, u can take the general idea & substitute some things. If u think they aren't safe, no reason to be so mean about it. 😒

    SUCH A GOOD IDEA and sooo cute! BUT for projects like this PLEASE use some fire guard or any fire protectant/flame retardant spray. doesn’t cost that much and all you need to do is spray the blocks AND the rocks. That’ll take out the worry for accidental fires especially since all those products are treated. Loved it though!

    • @elijahyuh1453
      @elijahyuh1453 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What happens if you don’t use fire guard? Will it still catch on fire or is fire guard more of like a precaution thing to make sure it doesn’t catch on fire?

    DOLLAR TREE SAW: As soon as you buy it tighten up the screws then coat the ends of the blades and screws with HOT GLUE. I do this and the saw lasts through a couple projects before quitting. I like using these saws because it is sharp for a while at least until it is no longer usable.

  • @RIODJENIRO1

    I worked with Caterer's when they use those fire fuel canisters and they emit a really strong, bad odor, so I would not use them as a dinner/table centerpiece or close to where people gather. My personal choice would be to use candles that have 3 or more wicks in them. Love the idea of these pits though.

  • @rachelking7002
    @rachelking7002 4 ปีที่แล้ว +23

    I love all three but I was wondering if it'll be easier to glue all the Jenga pieces together then stain them. I feel she could've saved her time since she didn't use all of them and put some in the bottom. What do you think? I feel the last one is the easiest and probably the cheapest. 💵 Over all I enjoyed this video very creative ideas! I'm definitely trying one of these. I'm subscribing to watch more of your creative crafts!

    • @TheCraftyCouple
      @TheCraftyCouple  4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Thank you for subscribing! The reason I didn't glue them together then stain them is because the stain doesn't stick to any parts with a tiny bit of glue plus any gaps you see would be more obvious since there wouldn't be stain on it. You can definitely do it that way but this way looked cleaner :) And yes I definitely stained too many lol.

    • @rachelking7002
      @rachelking7002 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheCraftyCouple yeah you're right about the stain. I actually thought that through after I made the comment. I guess I could also use white paint maybe.

  • @TamLue
    @TamLue 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    I enjoyed these ideas. My only critique would be the wastage of the rocks in the big bowl and the extra blocks in the first project. If you're a frequent crafter or on a budge you don't want to waste all that extra material that could be used for future projects (or the few dollars to pay for extra bags of rocks, as not many come in one bag) for the under part that can't be seen. I'd fill it up instead with dirt or sand, rice or beans or anything durable that I could get either free from the ground around me or for VERY cheap in large quantities (like the dry rice and beans), or even natural gravel from a driveway or something. Then put the decorative rocks on top of that, enough to cover what's underneath.

    These are cute but very unsafe. Plastic and wood are not good vessels for fire-they can ignite from heat. Those river rocks can crack and burst sending shards across the room. I’m glad you haven’t had any problems, but it’s important to use proper materials when creating fire vessels.

    Another thing tabletop firepits are good for..letting kids roast marshmallows when indoors ( read: quarentined)..I made these firepits several years ago..and have made grandkids very happy in December making s'mores while watching the snow fall!. Addressing that 3ed one..after glueing it together, I will also be adding a cricut design depending on the holiday or event!!. I can also see adding "feet" to the bottom via 4 marbles on each corner or Jenga blocks.

    My question is are you using them ?
    and if so how often and truly how have they held up ?
    wondering about SAFETY.

    • @TheCraftyCouple
      @TheCraftyCouple  4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Thank you for watching! We do use them occasionally but definitely not every day. The canisters only last 2 hours so they do need to be replaced if you have it going longer than that. All 3 have held up and don't show any signs of breaking. We also don't leave them outside.
      As far as saftey you just need to be careful because it is an open flame so just like with any fire make sure it's not near anything flammable, children, or pets. And always keep an eye on it. With the rocks surrounding it helps with the heat from the canisters.

      Did you buy the little blocks from the dollar tree ad well?

      The blocks are the tumbling tower game from Dollar Tree :) if they aren't in your store you can order them online and have them shipped to your closest store.

    Can you just steal rocks from a playground? 😂When I was little, my sister, my best friend and I walked to our school with a wagon so we could fill it up and have a lot of rocks. I have no idea what our end game was. Lol. My mom was so mad because there was rocks everywhere for months.

    Great idea, if you want to spend the extra money it might be a good idea to reinforce it with some small cuts of plywood to make the box and use the wood to decorate around that. Good video 👍

    Those are cool. I saw another person use the glass cutting board squares..they used some blocks to create a frame to sit the glad boards in. They were awesome.. Also they did one where they doubled the glass cutting boards but left a small space to insert twigs a leave a in middle space so when fire was going on looked beautiful.
