    Shinsuke is getting paid. He likes the lifestyle he has in the U.S. and the demand on his body is far less in WWE than it would be working the physically demanding Japanese style. He's talked about leaving the business on his own terms rather than being on crutches. Wrestlers all have physical limitations. If he can earn the best money for the least amount damage then more power to them.

      Well some marks will never understand that part of the business, more money ,safer matches

    WWE never understood who Nakamura was, they're the reason why people don't get him. Shinsuke made himself in Japan and became one of the best in the world, there was no reason to change that.

      I think WWE has let him be what he was in NJPW it’s just Japan and WWE/American fans are 2 different things and fans

      American fans don't want to watch a guy act weird just because for very long. It's okay for the diehards who know his history but nobody who watches casually is getting into that.

    That's how I feel about 90% of professional wrestlers today, who is this... why are they here... why should I care... an ultimately most of the time I don't. Nakamura, Owens, Corbin, Zayn, Reigns, Ricochet, Ziggler and a several others including the now AEW transplants have no character and/or charisma whatsoever (it's like trying to force charisma out of or on to wrestlers who don't have it). You can get away with that some, if you have a really good match, but most of the matches aren't that good. The biggest pops I've seen/heard in years were for guys Vince doesn't like, like Chad Gable, Finn Bálor, Kofi Kingston and Ezekiel (when he was Elias) the people went crazy when those guys got a little push.

    Even in New Japan it was hard to tell what he was, what his gimmick was or his purpose. He's an "artist", a rockstar, the King of Strong Style, he likes the outdoor life and he sort of impersonates Michael Jackson. Now, what does that say about him, his personality or his gimmick? Absolutely nothing.
    He's a good wrestler (specifically at the Japanese style) with a great entrance. He's had singles and tag team title runs and he's failed to impress every time.

    • @billyridge7250
      @billyridge7250 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      He's getting paid handsomely to go through his motions. Being weird just to be weird doesn't make money in the states. It's been successful artistically in Japan for a long time though. They don't care about storyline as much in their wrestling circles because it's still seen as more sport.
      Mexico is kind of a blend of both the United States and Japan. Their luchadors are iconic super heros and they love the huge brawls and the massive spots but they don't need in depth drama nor do they treat it as a sport like futbol, baseball or boxing where things like championships and title defending is super important. The mask and the hair is where the spirit lies and those things make the competitor.

    Interesting how he picks the Japanese guy that he doesn't understand.
    Sadly, alot of guys go undefined. Like, what is Seth Rollins supposed to be now?
    In Nakamura's case, him coming to WWE was more about bringing his already established fanbase with him to a new product. Unfortunately along the way they never explained anything about him to the people seeing him for the first time. But y’know what? The Oddities got over with a catchy entrance theme and zero backstory so who's to say?
    Side note, to say there's not VTR? WWE programming is almost 50% flashbacks and replays.
