Sailing the Baja Peninsula: San Evaristo to Agua Verde | SV Ramble On

This week we journey from the quiet little village of San Evaristo north to Agua Verde. It wasn't our original plan to go all the way to Agua Verde in one trip, but sometimes things happen that changes our itinerary. We experience some very calm seas, some perfect sailing, and some very sporty conditions. We get it all in one trip!
Once in Agua Verde we dine at the local beach-side restaurant and make a short trek to the village mercado.

We’re Jeni and Rich. We’re really just a couple of average Joes. In a nutshell we met and married in our early 20s; I graduated from college in my late 20s; adopted two cats and a dog in the late 90s; sold a house and bought a new house in our mid 30s; then sold the new house and moved onto a sailboat in our early 40s. In between all that we had a bunch of fun like camping, scuba diving, watching hockey games (Go Red Wings!), concerts, traveling, spear fishing, restoring a 1963 Chevy II Nova; spending time with family and friends. A few years ago we decided to lay off all the fun-having to fix up this old boat. We figure if we put our noses to the grindstone for a few years, we’ll be able to travel for a few years and do all the fun things we’ve missed.

We went to Gatos, no sign of the young dudes.. thank goodness.
We haven't had any luck with fishing.. hopefully soon.
The winds in SoC... so variable.. !!!! 😅

Wild!! I remember that happening in Los Gatos- we heard the same thing but fortunately had JUST been there before all that went down. Hope you get a chance to see it before you leave the sea ❤

Pretty crazy! Did we tell you we know the couple it happened to? We sailed down the Pacific coast together then met up with them again in Salinas on Carmen. Got their story first hand.

Noticed you have star link how well does that work for you? We got a dinghy fixed and rebuilt our mercury motor so that’s one issue that’s better.. We are headed to Santa Barbara next month and taking our sailboat out for first time.. First change out fuel filters and change oil then 🎉 yippee sailing hopefully.. Thanks for the inspiration to do this my wife has never sailed so hopefully she loves it.. take care enjoy

Star Link is amazing. Everyone we see out here has it. A total game changer for cruising. Good luck on your first sail! I’m a worrier by nature, so I have to remind myself to have fun when we’re sailing otherwise I worry the whole time. It’s so much better when I just relax. 😌
