This might be your best video yet !!
Thanks!!! It was one of the easiest ones I've made.
Excellent work on the last few videos I can't wait to see it back on the trail with all the upgrades!
You and me both! Hopefully weather will cooperate!
Well….. there you have it….. super fancy exhaust install with groovy 70’s music. 👍👍😎👍👍.
That had to be about the easiest system I’ve ever done, but it turned out awesome and sounds fantastic for a $30 muffler
Awe come on. Now you're just showin off with the paint. Love it!!
Lol. Thanks!!
Awesome work man. But extending wires if done right won’t change a thing. Big motivation for my 95 build!
For an instructional video, it’s safer just to not to avoid people some frustration.
@@DeathTollRacing🫡 agree 100%
Great video! Helpful tip on the oxygen sensor....I just bought the one that comes with extra wire and cut to length when I did mine.
Thanks for the info! That came to mind also, but I could not find one with a long enough lead. Do you happen to know the part number from your purchase history?
Not sure of the exact part number as my buddy owns a shop and picked it up for a discount. I do know that it probably came from Advance Auto and just a quick search yielded several "universal" models. The first for a 94 8v.....mine......is a bosch and the connectors are the same as mine. What it does is splice into your old wiring so you can use as much of it as needed. Hope this helps someone
Very clean looking after all said and done!
Thanks!
What size of exhaust pipe did you run off the headers back??
I did 2 1/2, but it’s not necessary to be that big. I just had it left over from another project. It does sound pretty good though, so no regrets
Amigo I wrote to you before but I want to let you know out here I have friends that they built the trackers with Honda parts they get the head and shave it port and polish they taste the intake manifold off they built a plate and put Honda intake manifold 72 tb on and they sent the distributor to Puerto Rico and they will recut the distributor and weld halg of Honda distributor and run a po8 ECM and make custom wiring for everything to work perfect and they regrind the cam to 272 and I can tell you become a monster in trails mud highway streets etc fast and strong like hell gd on gas with header and free flow exhaust system the sound is like a dp cobra Ford sound beautiful I don't how much power but man man sweet sixteen for what it is cheap to build and easy but the 16 valves is a beast climb like hell run the streets and highway like a race car but the sound is beautiful with such cam and combo a lot better than any other jp and automatic will take off like a light special with aluminum crank pulley I think the whole set up is around a g or less no bad at all for a nice performance geo
That sounds really cool. I’m thinking of selling mine and building something else currently. We will see
Did you notice any seat of the pants power gains ? Worth the trouble ?
Mine was very noticeable, but it also had super tiny exhaust on it. Like 1.25" I think. It actually sounds pretty sporty now. Revs a lot faster than I expected.
Great video!! You should include in the description what tools you used. I really like the tube cutter and the exhaust flaring tool
The flaring tool is a custom one I came up with here---> th-cam.com/video/SMGgGlCsjFQ/w-d-xo.html
As for the cutting tool it's nothing special. But here's the one I'm using. ---->www.amazon.com/GEARWRENCH-2031DD-Exhaust-Tailpipe-Cutter/dp/B000M93OUM/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=exhaust+cutter&qid=1628384715&sr=8-4
Hey was just wondering what brand of oxygen sensor you using
Mines a Bosch, so far so good. 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞
Thanks! will be doing this to my tracker tomorrow just making sure I got everything
Oh hell yeah. Cost??
The header is less than $200 on Amazon. Only for 8 valve though. 16 valve uses a different header and it’s a bit harder to find and much more expensive
Would those headers work on a 16l 16v?
They do not unfortunately. Only the 8 valves.
@@DeathTollRacing have any recommendations for headers and exhaust for a 16v?
@@ChasingOverland unfortunately you’re going to have to go name brand for the 16v as far as I know. Doug Thorley makes good stuff, but you have to pay 💰 for it. amzn.to/3T2reVu
For the exhaust, I just make my own from mandrel pieces. 2 1/2” is big for these guys, 2 1/4 is probably as big as you’d need to go.
@@DeathTollRacing thank you!
Great video 👍🏻 so I am doing this to my rig. I'd prefer a professional do this but my exhaust guy doesn't touch headers. He says "get it on yourself and I'll finish everything else". That's fine, I understand. I got a quote from a local shop to install the header, nothing else, and they're asking $930. I can't afford this, that's outrageous. Literally I need the first 60 seconds of this video done and I have a guy who will do everything else. How long did it take you do you think? Do you think it's an easy job for someone without experience?
Honestly, I know you can do it! The only thing that may get you stuck is if you have a broken manifold bolt. Other than that, it is very basic. Don’t forget the o2 sensor. I had to pull some of the wiring out of the loom and re route it on mine. Also very easy. Just moving wires, not re making them.
@@DeathTollRacing thanks for the reply! I change my own oil, dynalined my car and now I'm hyping myself up to do this work. It's a little scary because this is my daily. I'm going to PB Blast the bolts every day for a week to prepare for this
Will this work on my 1996 geo tracker 1.6?
unfortunately the header is different on yours. It only fits the 8v ones and yours is probably a 16v. There are headers for the 16 valve though, and install is almost exactly the same. The only draw back is they are a bit more expensive. here's a really good one for it.

Thank you
How did you relocate the o2 sensor? Was there enough wire wrapped up it would reach or did you extend the length to reach the bung as I have bought the same header. Thanks
It reached, but you have to un loom some of the wire from the harness so it won’t hit the header and melt.
This sounds so good. Would you ever do a turbo conversion on this?
You know, I was thinking about that. Maybe?
Yeap amigo I have a 1996 Geo tracker 16 valves base with header free flow exhaust system port and polish head free flow exhaust system and tune ECM and higher RPM cam and 20 over pistons and I can tell you a big big difference from stock motor and a lot stronger and faster is my daily drive highway to city trails etc a lots of fun in any seasons of the year easy to maintance real gd on gas and I kp him in gd shape a poor man always kp a gd horse to travel with healthy bones to kp strong in any environment but my Geo tracker is a 16 valves love my wild spaniard mustang 🐎😁 I'm been all over USA and I can said never had a problem with my horse I made sure I kp him in gd shape gd job no that many around anymore with gd frame
Right on! Yes, they are definitely getting harder to find for sure!
@@DeathTollRacing yeah I kp one motor and transmission for spare real hard to find a 16 valves engine out here in the junkyards Cleveland Ohio Pennsylvania Buffalo NY NJ you will not find a 16 valves engine or any Geo tracker in the junkyards believe I call all them myself long ago and they laughed when I said Geo tracker 16 valves engine or any Geo tracker people take them alway I found one and rebuilt the engine and kp it inside a wood pallet my frame is like new I kp everything under greese and transmission oil mixture never rust out every 6 month like I said I kp my horse in gd gd shape I call it my investment jjj my legs I really love my horse my is punching around 120 hp or little less or more but I can said he pull hard fast and strong amigo big big difference from stock with a bit of money 💵 really you will be amazing
Gd job amigo I wonder how much horsepower power and torque that header and system will bring to the table
So it was a very noticeable improvement for sure. But mine also had VERY small exhaust on it prior, so it was choked a bit.
@@DeathTollRacing ok right now I'm waiting for my 16v headers I going with 21/4 exhaust and free flow flowmaster and magnaflow muffler in 1996 geo tracker problably later on I will put a drop in cam made in canada better then stock for more torque I can said I love my all season 4 x4 tracker I made my old school style no lifting 10 inch american racing wheels from the 70s dp dish plus 15 x 10 tensors tires plus I make my own flares plus I made my on bikini renegade style everything old school big problem people eyes catcher jjj hopefully I get my header soon then I will build the pipe system and bingo but my is a 16 v better flow plus if I work on the head and put bigger valves will become a different beast plus I have a nice air filter I believe the Geo trackers is the best car they ever made easy to work on cheap to fix plus nice on summer and winter what better than that you have to see how serious 50 thausand dollar jeep owners get when I park around them because people always looking at my old school style little rig and not to their 50s dollar crap wranglers jjjj is funny amigo I even have a cobra cb on dashboard two twin speakers hanging from the ceiling old school I hook my ph to the box and CCR come on born on the byouuuuuuu jjj anyway thanks for the information amigo
@@DeathTollRacing free flow converter flowmaster and magnaflow muffler this combination and the header and 2 1/4 pipe should be enough for a 4 banger and the air filter then a head work bigger valves and a drop in cam then I'm set but I can tell you I have air shocks in him big difference from stock nice stable ride in the st and trails really anyway take care amigo and kp him running and frame clean they don't make them anymore remember that big money every year up and up
@@DeathTollRacing my getting header and everything next week amigo butt I'm trying to get some alluminum pulleys for him too probably I can get them in Puerto Rico to free up a little more torque and hp plus better gas mileage probably my is in gd condition last WK pressure washe the under body and spray rustulium plus this weekend I will spray a bunch of different mix oils to kp clean and out the salt upstate NY and PA and ohio a lot of salts in winter putting money in a Geo tracker 16 valves in gd condition is a gd investment a all year round horse 🐎 gd in gas easy to maintain and gd horse for mud trail city snow etc compare to new trucks cars my is gold 😂 I have my old school dp dish 15 x 10 wheel old american from old ford and 15 x 10 tires tensors made my own flares 240 z datsun style jjj old school is not the faster is not but nice ride gas shocks on it if I want to go real fast I have my little girl call crx si yeap she hook up to run like a fin in the street jj at 2 o'clock at knight looking for the 20s jjj anyway take care out there wait my home rv camperf150 motor 300 standard 4 sp 60 thousands original 1981 year old school style army color I don't sale my olds school style from my house to my crx si no my Geo tracker neither jjjj gypsy way no other way freedom CCR born on the byouuuuuuu amigo kp rocking and knocking love life is a journey and life kp ridding to the another side the books said jjj
Sounds like a race engine now.
It sounds WAY better now. But then again, it had a 1" tailpipe before, so I think it was being choked a bit.
Join the dark side with me. I just bought a manifold and turbo for mine.
That would be cool!
