  • A short video tutorial of how to make a small scale rice straw silage production, most of countries with agriculture industry has rice field, this rice straw silage is one of many feed alternative for livestock based on agriculture by-product.
Silage production has widely used in livestock industry, simple technology to preserve livestock feed to be used when there is insufficient supply of food for livestock, or when the land for planting grass unavailable.
This video is suitable for small-scale farmers with limited land owned. Other than that this method does not require a large capital, an appropriate technology which very useful for small farmers.
    Other References:
"Silage is fermented, high-moisture stored fodder which can be fed to ruminants (cud-chewing animals such as cattle and sheep) or used as a biofuel feedstock for anaerobic digesters. It is fermented and stored in a process called ensilage, ensiling or silaging, and is usually made from grass crops, including maize, sorghum or other cereals, using the entire green plant (not just the grain). Silage can be made from many field crops, and special terms may be used depending on type (oatlage for oats, haylage for alfalfa, etc.)

Unfortunately, there were no proper plastic drum during the making of the video, so we're just doing what we can to provide the video footage. I understood the cost of making this is not cheap, but you can use your logic. think logically and act whatever you must. cheers.

The key to animal feed is Protein!! Rice Straw contains very little of it.We can't grow alfalfa in the tropics but one good legume high protein both in nuts and dry leaves and stems is Peanut!!! Grass even rice is poor source. Corn silage is good. Crude Protein is converted to Digestible protein utilized by the animal.

    • @dragonmarvelous

your judgment was obviously wrong. yes we are not farmers, but we're govt servant in the dept of agriculture. the purpose of the making of this video was to deliver the idea of silage making.
when we made the video, our equipment were very limited and we use whatever we had. ideally yes we need different type of silo/plastic drum but we don't have it.
if you use your brain, you would catch the idea, not bluntly pointing finger and judge.

The idea here is not whether the people is real farmer or herders or expert as you call it but the shared technique and process. Thier willingnesss to share is more commendable than your wizzy lazy sloth type brain. If you have a better or low cost silage making process make a video and share it to us if can't then stfu!
