I know this is an old video, but in case someone checks it out, that wasn't a dull blade from the factory, the type F razor is cool, but won't load regular blades without completely dulling them unless you painstakingly push the blade slowly backward away from the little blade stops with a toothpick (or something else that won't dull the blade)as you slowly inject it a few millimeters at a time. If you just quickly slide it in like other injector razors, the blade stops will completely dull the blades. No one seems to know if they used a different injector for that particular model or what, but you have to do that process of pushing the blade backward away from the blade stops. Then it'll give many great shaves from one blade.
Thank you for this video. It was a very pleasant experience for me to follow you along the shaving process. I enjoyed your presentation and the way you described the whole process. I appreciated the narrative aspect of this video.
Nice razor BUT this particular razor can be difficult loading blade causing you to dull the edge. Be careful and ensure the edge doesn't drag across the blade rest when injecting.
Hey Geo, I got a 1956 Gillette Super-Speed Red Tip safety razor for Christmas, and I disinfected it by putting the razor head in a bowl of isopropyl alcohol for a few minutes. That is a sufficient time, right?
Where Did you Buy That From Brotha plug i Bid on a Classic Schick Repeating Razor The 1927-1932 And it's Silver Plated Plus i Won That Bid And Bought it on Ebay 😊 Those Razors are Fantastic But The Only Downside is That Old Razor Handles Smells Bad Plus I Have That Sterling silver Spray paint That i Can Respray my old Razor Handle Plus it'll Rejuvenate it 😊
Of the many razors I have used in the past, the Schick Injector was unique in its design, and a pleasant shaving experience. The only down side was the cost of the blade injector pack..nothing changes I guess, except the number of blades in the cartridge these days.
Hi Geo Great video, man! I especially like the fact that, in addition to the main activity of shaving around your goatee with the schick, you've taken the opportunity to provide your thoughts on other related shaving matters (such as rose shaving cream or dodgy blades). Fantastic! Soon be your first year YT anniversary, man. Hearty congratulations, Good Sir! You've certainly made my life, and thousands of others, a lot better over the last year with your indispensible advice. Thank you
Which is better, schick injector single blade razor or the classic double edge safety razor? Which is easier to use without getting painful razor burns?
I've been using it for less than a year I decided to go back to my roots, but that joker was butchering my face ,so I went on line and learned I should down take it easy, so my last shave was a little better.im staying with it.
And i was just about to buy the Gillette Fusion , the razor which has like 5 blades. So after watching all these videos, I conclude that the old school shaving is the way. I remember laughing at my dad for his old razor and calling it antique old school, Now, Realising that what a Naive I was. Respect for dad and got to diss the idea of buying the fusion, Now got to find some nice Safety razor. Any advice in the range of say 50-60 US$? Thanks
I enjoy your videos Geo. But how do you clean theSchick? Does the blade stay in? How do u dry it. On my DE’s , I take the blade out dry everything & keep the blade out till next time I use it. Thanks for your help.(VLS)
Hi Bro! Just thought I would let you know that the Feather arrived on Wednesday morning! Yet more excellent service from SN! That is one beautiful razor and I will let you know how I go with it. Thanks for the blade bank too; it will come in very useful. I don't know about you but I always find that the compartment for old blades in the packets is never big enough to fit all 10. Take care my friend and be well! David
After 45 years of shaving my face, I have to admit this is the First Complete Shaving demonstration I have ever witnessed. Of course besides seeing some guy on TV with his face already lathered then taking one or two strokes. I am sure that this 20 minute task was a bit lengthy due to the oration, but I can sh#*, shave and shower in less than 10 minutes, and have for many years. I guess having to stay out of the bathroom when my wife has been in there has swiftened my process.
So far i love my straight razors the best. i recently bought a newly manufactured replica of this razor and it's great. The only real problem i've had has been the blades themselves. One blade will be really good while another will be terrible and out of this specific pack, i've gotten 2 blades that were horrible.
+Steve Davidson Hi Steve, I've experienced the same. The first time I used it, I popped in a blade and attempted to shave.... No beard was removed... I got mad, threw it in the drawer and forgot about it. Then months later I tried it again with a new blade, voila! It removed my beardage forthwith! The moral of the story is, sometimes you get a defective blade. Or as "The Dude" would say: Sometimes you get the blade, and sometimes it gets you!
Hi GEO. Is the GEO Bowl you are using in this video the standard size or the XL? And when will either be available on shavenation as both are sold out at this time?
@geofatboy it seems the blades are cheaper in the US, they are $14 each plus postage over on this side of the ocean that divides us. I also discovered that Schick products are marketed under the Wilkinson brand over here.
Geo, I thought I'd pass this on. I've been a barber for 50 years, and I no longer use Barbecide. A customer of mine is a dentist, and he told me about an article he read in one of his professional journals about an experiment his colleagues ran, to determine the most effective germicide. And the best one turned out to be good old germicidal hand-soap. That stuff will kill anything on earth. So I now wash my combs and brushes with it and a brush. For a razor you could apply it with a fingernail brush with fine bristles, to reach all the little nooks and crannies.
Really? That's interesting. I'm thinking it's much easier to pump a squirt of hand-soap and do a quick clean up after the shave. Very convenient. Thanks for the tip!
Yeah man, injector blade/single edge razors are making a BIG comeback partially due to companies like Supply & Oneblade and because you can find the blades in bulk for about .60-.70 per blade making it very cost effective and low waste; thanks for this vid showing good technique and procedure.
still have it from my father. Was not allowed to use it when it was his, but it is mine for ages already. Just found out that there are no more blades available here in Holland..So the search has begun. It is just too smart to throw away.
@geofatboy I tried that, but it didn't work very well, I guess soaps are not as good a creams. I ended up putting it in the bowl in corner of my bedroom and now the whole room smells of sandalwood, quite unintentional, but I think it can stay there :D Thanks for the reply.
Geo, can that razor or razor of that kind be used to shave the head? I have a merkur futur clone and I love it but I'm always looking for a good back up or alternative.
Would a Schick be a good razor for removing hair close under the nose? I find it awkward with a DE razor due to the size of the head. The rear blade on Fusion razors is ideal for trimming under the nose. Do you know of another style of SE razor that would be even more suitable, ie tiny head size?

@geofatboy oh , I understand, BTW what kind of browser did you use to upload it? Because Google Chrome and Internet Explorer have problems at uploading, I use Mozilla Firefox, fastest and safest uploading way to TH-cam :)
How would you say this compares to the Cobra? Id love a Cobra but they're hard to find... anything compares to the Cobra? ive seen a Mongoose... any thoughts on those either? --Ed--
I just bought a vintage Schick injector razor and It's ok, but the blades were very old - have to buy new blades. Otherwise, I'm loving my Merkur futur razor as main razor. Love your videos, by the way!
Hi Bro! Hope you're enjoying the summer and love the new thumbnail on your site; reminds me of a Sergio Leone Spaghetti Western or even Edward Scissorhands (or should that be Geo Razorhands? :)) Strange times here in Blighty. hey geo, do you mind if I ask you a question? I just wanted to know if the type tap water you have can prevent a shaving soap from creating lather? I have some taylors of old bond street shaving soap and alI get is a endless soap suds, not a proper lather. I think it might be the amount of dissolved minerals we get in our tap water here in the south of england.
I got a used schick injector and I noticed there is some gunk in the area where the razor goes and behind it. I cant get a brush or a cloth in there so I was wondering how do you properly clean it?
Hi Geo, I just used the delivery estimate to see delivery for me in the UK, and it came out as $47 :/ you replied to Rado saying most international shipments would be $13, so is this an overestimate on your site or would it really cost about $50? Thanks.

Geo that's one rare injector man!! F type Schick injector razor, that thing is a beauty
Thanks!
Geo i just wanted to say you are my HERO!!!! keep doing what your doing. I always catch myself coming back to your vids to get ideas from you
I have a fifties era razor. I like your video so my friends can see what I'm talking about when I tell them what a great razor it is. Thank you.
Thank you for this video. It was a very pleasant experience for me to follow you along the shaving process. I enjoyed your presentation and the way you described the whole process. I appreciated the narrative aspect of this video.
Just started watching this video, and am enjoying it already. I am glad that you and other wet shavers are out there to help me enjoy this hobby.
Nice razor BUT this particular razor can be difficult loading blade causing you to dull the edge. Be careful and ensure the edge doesn't drag across the blade rest when injecting.

I owned one of it just yesterday, and that one is adjustable...
I've been using it for less than a year I decided to go back to my roots, but that joker was butchering my face ,so I went on line and learned I should down take it easy, so my last shave was a little better.im staying with it.
Would a razor like this be better for hairs on the neck that grow flat against the skin? This has always been my issue.
And i was just about to buy the Gillette Fusion , the razor which has like 5 blades. So after watching all these videos, I conclude that the old school shaving is the way.

does it shaves like the cobra classic,
i must say i love that razor been using it now for 3 to 4 weeks none stop, great save, fast and easy.

I foung one of these in my gramas basement. It's so cool. Thanks for explaing how it worked. before I broke it.
I love my E type injector with the bakelite handle. Great shavers.

Thanks Timothy, even if it takes a few extra minutes in the AM, it's a great way to start your day!
I have that brush too and I love it!
barbicide, you can get it at your local beauty supply store. Fantastic stuff, and works great. Kills everything that may be on it.
Are those razors still in production? Are the blades easy to get? Do you dilute your barbicide, or just use it pure?
So far i love my straight razors the best. i recently bought a newly manufactured replica of this razor and it's great. The only real problem i've had has been the blades themselves. +geofatboy Absolutely my friend and Happy New Year. I'm on the last blade of this pack now and i got an incredible shave this morning.
geofatboy z
I dig your videos and your attitude!
TED PELLA INJECTOR BLADES. As good as the pellas single edge blades. Id love to get a type F razor. I have E and G so far

Thanks for your videos & efforts to inform us.
Hey Geo! Could you please tell me what aftershave you use most often? Thanks Bill
Geo, I thought I'd pass this on. I've been a barber for 50 years, and I no longer use Barbecide. DwightMS1 what do you recommend specifically. Is there a brand of germicidal hand soap that is superior?
Good question Matt, but I think they all contain the same germicide. We use "Soft Soap."
DwightMS1 oh ok, thanks! I tight you were referring to a special medical soap or something. I had no idea household hand soap was so strong.
Really? That's interesting. I'm thinking it's much easier to pump a squirt of hand-soap and do a quick clean up after the shave. Very convenient. Thanks for the tip!
I think they are all pretty much 99.99% germicidal. They kill most nasty stuff.

Could you do a video on how to cut down a feather pro guard blade to fit the injector and then shave with it....???
Why would you want to cut it and use it?
@@juliusu6615 so IT would fit the injector...
@geofatboy I tried that, but it didn't work very well, I guess soaps are not as good a creams. I ended up putting it in the bowl in corner of my bedroom and now the whole room smells of sandalwood, quite unintentional, but I think it can stay there :D
Thanks for the reply.
What do you think about Supply razor?
Could you do a full shave with that kind of beard/mustache on one of your next videos?
Geo, can that razor or razor of that kind be used to shave the head? I have a merkur futur clone and I love it but I'm always looking for a good back up or alternative.
How would you compare this to a DE shave, and how long do the blades last compared to DE?
Would a Schick be a good razor for removing hair close under the nose? I find it awkward with a DE razor due to the size of the head. The rear blade on Fusion razors is ideal for trimming under the nose. Do you know of another style of SE razor that would be even more suitable, ie tiny head size?

I think both of those razors are impossible to find, no longer made.
I just bought a vintage Schick injector razor and It's ok, but the blades were very old - have to buy new blades. Otherwise, I'm loving my Merkur futur razor as main razor. Love your videos, by the way!
+geofatboy I think I saw an injector razor online, which is currently being made. Google injector razor, and I think you will see it.
When are you going to get those bowls back in stock!
How long does the manual blades last compared to 4 blade razers used today? In shave times?
Hi Bro!
Hope you're enjoying the summer and love the new thumbnail on your site; reminds me of a Sergio Leone Spaghetti Western or even Edward Scissorhands (or should that be Geo Razorhands? :))
Strange times here in Blighty. Many of the major cities here have been in flames over the last 3 days and the rioting does not look like it is stopping any time soon. Has this been reported much in the USA?

That goatee is coming along very nicely!
hey geo, do you mind if I ask you a question?

is the brush similar to the colonel conk chrome brush its heavy to i got cramps in my forearm from making lather with it thats how heavy but its nice
Hi Geo,

Another Awesome Video Geo, great little razor!
@geofatboy what format do you render the videos and what software, because i could help you :) im a video specialist
Can it be used on the head
Nice video :-) you said if you dont have a brush you can use wet towel to straigthn your beard...... You can maybe also use your old toothbrush :-)
How come this video doesn't have automatic captions on it? Turn them on!
@geofatboy hehehe yup I'll name for you :)
I presume feather blades are much sharper than injector ones right?
Geo, is that a parker brush?
hey geo , i´ve just got and old gillete, but i'm afraid to use it, how can i desinfect it ? to make it safe to use
Will barbercide add a patina or take away the sheen or finish on my razors?
+Rob G
When used properly, it should kill germs and not ruin the finish.
I wouldn't call it "ingenious," more like cumbersome. But I understand a lot of people like this razor so thanks for the review!
Hey Geo! You haven't posted any videos lately, I hope everything is well with you man
I'm just wondering how much would a shipment to Europe(Slovenia) cost if I order from SN?
@geofatboy Jepp, i know that.. but do U still know where i can get the blades ?
The personna 74 injector blade is hard to find. What do you recommend since the only blade in the stores are schick?
Check on ebay, I think you can find some there.
That was a very good video I was impressed that they made something like that 70 years ago. why did they ruin a good thing.
@XJNHMVz shutter speed? Is there a something like shutter speed with video cameras? I would say aperture more likely?
I still see these at my local pharmacy
where do you pick up blades for this razor i inherited one and would like to use it
www(dot)amazon(dot)com/Barber-Injector-Platinum-Blades-Dispenser/dp/B00022AUME
Do an online search and you will find them.
i have a very similar but slightly newer schick razor called "schick Golden 500"
video is a lil bit darker, did you noticed that?
@sarelle500gr well I think it is the shutter speed because the video looks a lil bit "faster" so to speak, but maybe Geo can clear that up for us :)
Man, if I did all that, I'd spend my whole life shaving! Nice old razor though.
He shows you in the video.
Are you a partner with TH-cam Geo?
its like a Cobra Light isnt it? :)
@geofatboy Yes, sorry didn't specify!
Tom
@geofatboy
Thanks for the reply!
Cool blade. Informative video as always, but I must say that it dragged a bit.
24 mins is way too long, Geo.
15 mins is the sweet spot.
My $0.02
Keep up the good work.
A bit long winded.... Sorry!
@sarelle500gr I think its because he shot it at higher shutter speed ;)
@Andonovmil you could, but your body will have such a big irritation and pain that you will instantly go to the hospital :)
Why shave against the grain?
To get closer obviously.
just splash water on your face
lol dot com
Neat razors, but injectors are so ugly.
Geo - Do they still make the injector blades for the Schick Injector?….
