Thanks for this wonderfully sentimental video! On Jasmin et Cigarette, and only b/c you asked (this is also one of my favorite jasmine perfumes, second only to A La Nuit). I left Iran a year before the revolution in 1978, but I have a strong association w/ Iran and the scent of this heavenly flower as well. We always had a few jasmine bushes in the backyard while I was growing up. My dad plucked the new growth daily, put them in a small crystal bowl and set it on the breakfast table. While he plucked the flowers, he sang to the plants and thanked them for their gracious gift. How can this dynamic not make an indelible mark on a child's psyche?! Unlike you, I go back often, as my parents still live there. The jasmine bushes are going strong and still the recipient of my 90 year old father's gratitude, daily!! Aaaaaaaah 😪.

Oh wow, what an amazing story, thank you. And wouldn't the world be a better place if we all sang to flowers? We could all learn something from your 'baba'.

You know, I’ve had a thought. Maybe ‘the system’ blocked you because you leave lots of shorter comments instead of one long one; maybe it thought you’re spamming.
I’m so pleased you can comment again, and I’d hate for you to get blocked by the gremlins, so I just thought I’d mention this.

I mean absolutely no offense, but Kouros half ruined London club life for me in the early 90s.
All of these cheesey men trying to look like modern Omar Sharif's, stuffed into clubs reeking of the animal urine smell of Kouros.
I'm glad that there are some who like it. But, I think I would rather have a bear just pee directly on me.
    But, there we are.

My 2021 perfume obsession is in great part due to those who write about perfume. I’ve always enjoyed great journalism and I’ve especially enjoyed reading sports writers because they tell real stories wherein there’s no room for a lack of integrity. And that’s true of perfume reviewers. For the most part, great writers …writing from the gut, heart and mind. There are exceptions…but so few. Great talk here. Thank you!!

I, too, have a scent association with France - when I was younger, we used to visit our friends in Paris frequently, they lived in a very nice arrondisement and had a lovely big apartment which smelled of cédrat. Since then, I always associate Paris and France with this smell and have found Roger et Gallet Cédrat to smell very very similar to my scent memory.

Loved this so uplifting and cheery and while İ am here may i ask a random question what is the note in certain scents that to my nose smells like bug spray ie like Aventus sorry for nearly mentioning the c word

    • @MFLimited

Methyl dihydrojasmonate is an insect repellent and common cheap perfume ingredient.
I understand that N-diethyl-meta-toluamide (DEET) is actually used in some perfumes.
Of course citronella oil is used for both perfume and natural mosquito repellent.
AventusCreed and Aventus for Her have citronella, Bergamont and lemon. Or possibly patchouli smells odd to you? It’s a love/hate smell.
Recently studies have shown that Victoria secrets “bombshell“ perfume is just as good as Deet for repelling mosquitoes.
