Absolutely love these. The effort you put in towards your production and editing quality makes it all flow so well together and makes it such a good watch
Thank you! Means a lot!
I think the "shark fin" made the difference. What's that cost you, like 15, 20 watts? Without it you win for sure! LOL! Seriously, I can't believe the training you guys endure. Thanks for bringing us along!
Thanks for watching! I think that’s an accurate guess on the watts 😂
Hey Nick I'm new here just wanted to say thank you for the insight to your training and good luck to you and Sarah at the Olympics! I'm hoping to see you go against the American team (American here)!
nice bikes keep it up nick don't give up

Lol, the guys drafted behind the huge Nick in Kerin for the entirety and overtook him at the end. Loved the background music for it and the sharkfin camera made it look like i was riding a horse
Thanks for watching!

It’s so good!
Hope to see you at the velodrome in London, UK some day
Hopefully soon!
Awesome seeing the views pick up on your videos man! Well deserved :)
Thanks so much!
4:55 i was not ready for that transition
Sorry 😬
How do you regulate your breathing when cycling?
What’s the rational behind doing a AM gym workout and PM Hard bike session. Is it purely logistics or are you emulating racing on tired legs ?
Great video
Theres a few reasons, but a lot of it is based on muscle activation before track. Fatigue is also a factor!
great vid! question though, why do most track cyclists use thin width rims during warmups, and not a disc wheel? great watch also!
We try to minimize the wear and tear on our race equipment. The shallow wheels also offer more resistance
Do you have any swimming background? You have an unbelievable build for it
I most definitely am not a good swimmer
Hey Nick,
Nice video!
I have a question; you always change your wheelset and gearing when warming up on the rollers, why don’t you just use your regular disc and gearing?
Greetings from Germany!
Its very important for us to activate our nervous system on rollers, it would be more difficult to do that on the big gears that we use for training and it would also cost us more energy to push those gears on rollers. We also don't use the disc wheels on rollers because they have more expensive tires on them and its better to put less heat cycles through them. I hope that answers your questions!
@@nick_wammes thanks for the answer! 🙏🏼
@@nick_wammeshow long is the warm up please?
Just a quick question, what made you choose a smaller bike frame (for longer stem and seatpost position) rather than a frame fit for your height?
I am on the biggest frame size possible
Smaller size bike will always be stiffer than a larger size bike. Keeping everything the same.
How fast do you top out on flat terrain on a road bike?
@@anthonyortiz6189 I don’t really do any sprint on the road. But maybe around 50-55 if the wind is perfect!
How does one acquire to become a track cyclist? I've been really interested.
Best to find your local track to start!
What ratio were u riding? And how long was the race? Thanks
It was a full keirin simulation and I was riding 69x14
@@nick_wammes thanks!
Better than working in a supermarket
Very true
Why didn't use pedal strap?
I took them off and now I use the velobike cleat locks
Curious, is that .... largest frame available for you? your seatpost seems very high. I don't know how much your height but you definitely looks tall. I guess this is disadvantage for a tall rider that unable to get any larger frame.
Yes I’m on the biggest frame possible.
why are there hols in the suit
Because I broke it
How much do you weight
95kg
Are you planning to increase or do you find 95kg to be your optimal weight
You've got a really dutch name, is that correct?
That would be correct
just a friendly comment, you5 bike computer should be at the front not at the back
No it shouldn’t. You’re not allowed to have the computer in view on the track. And it’s not useful to look at during a sprint either.
Have you ever tried Nordic hamstring curls
Yes they are very hard.
Do you think they are the best exercise for sport specific strength
how tall are you?
195cm
@@nick_wammes how to start with this sport?
@@tolciio410 best place to start would be finding a local track!
unbias opinion... James defiantly won the second race, better luck next time
You lost. Stop crying.
Lol
I got a question 😅
About?
How expensive is your bike? @@nick_wammes

@@nick_wammes how expensive is your bike
For decades, socks in cycling were not the norm, and in fact people competed without them. But millennials invented that they were better and today there is a symphony of horrible and impractical socks. Hopefully one day the kids will go back to the old school and cuilcism will once again be a sockelss sport.
How old are you?
