In the early 80s I was a student pilot in the US Navy until I developed a vision issue. I have all my ground school, meteorology, etc. along with about 70 hours of first pilot time and over 100 take-offs and landings in the T-28B. I logged some time in a helicopter as well, even a power-off landing. That means I know quite a bit about flying. I never played 2020 or any other flight simulator, but if were going to buy the 2024 version -- a thing I'm considering -- it would be the basic. Given all my other hobbies, there's more than enough there to keep me busy.
I'm not buying any version until i am 100% satisfied fs2020 all my 3rd party aircraft (fenix), airports, and other adds on work, and also that all the bugs and launch issues are fixed. I have my doubts.
Just pre-ordered the standard edition for Xbox X, as I’m not bothered by the additional aircraft and airports, directly from MS/Xbox. I wasn’t going to but the performance upgrade and better scenery resolution persuaded me. As long as their servers are up to it then more reliance on cloud support this would be great for me. Thanks for the presentation H 👍
I've preordered the Aviator edition for £199.99 it's a huge investment, but I just look at the hundreds of hours of joy 2020 brought me, getting me back into flight siming since I last did it over 20 years prior. I believe it will be well worth the money and can't wait for the launch and to see flight sim 2024 evolve over time. Plus, I play on PC and Series X, so one purchase for both platforms lessens the sting.
I might go for the £1 for 14 days game pass to give it a try, then I'd go with deluxe version (but I'll tell my missus it's the cheaper standard one. :) )
Have pre-ordered the Standard Edition. I fly mainly GA, have lots of additional aircraft and rarely use big airports, so why pay for what I don't need?
Aviator Edition for me, though all the packages are really good. Anyone who buys the base game is still getting a lot of good aircraft. The new aircraft I'm most excited for, the Twin Otter and the A400M, are both in the standard edition. I'm mostly going big for returning planes, Premium Deluxe brings the Citation Longitude and 787-10, which I both enjoy in 2020. The Aviator edition also gives the V35B Bonanza which has fast become my preferred GA in FS2020, plus a few other favorites of mine.
I’ll be buying the Cheapskate Edition. High fidelity, near-study level 3rd party aircraft have nearly ruined all of Asobo’s offerings for me. I guess I’ve turned into a “realism” snob. However, I’m still glad Asobo is releasing a plethora of “easier” aircraft. It’s helped raised the popularity of flight simming far beyond anything we’ve ever seen. I'm inclined to agree with you, as I only fly GA. I have the A2A Comanche, the Black Square Bonanza & the TBM850 & all should transfer to MSFS 2024 so why pay more unless there's something else in these other packages that's not in the Standard edition?
The first thing that I will need to do is invest in a new video card. Mine currently is a GTX1060 with 3 gig. Been working great for what it is in 2020, but will need an upgrade for 2024.
Seing the prices, none. I paid for a MSFS2020 Premium Deluxe and I won't full pay again for about the same thing. I'll wait (quite a long time) for a steam bargain.
Aviator Edition. My feeling is if you’re jumping in, may as well start with as many planes & airports out of the box as possible. Assuming they release a new edition every 4 years on average, that’s about $50/yr USD. Well I think I can handle that.
Standard. Then I'll spend the difference on quality addons. Their airplanes are usually basic and the bespoke airports have too many mistakes and omissions.
Most likely the collector edition. I know it is high, but the extras are nice and I like having the whole thing in one package. And if one spends a lot of time in the sim or a game and loves it 200-300 dollars is nothing. it is money well spent and will be there for a long time to enjoy. Some scoff at $200 for a game or sim, yet spend $500 for a single day trip to an amusement park for 3 people, for a single day of fun. I just spent $6,080 on a PC build and love it, and since I am on it for most of my waking hours there is no better investment for my time and enjoyment.
The only reason I would buy the Aviator edition would be to see these real planes in game playing multiplayer. As an Xbox user seeing the wrong livery on a plane kills the immersion. Seeing a prop plane when it should be a commercial airliner is awful. Premium for me I think.
Basic. I only fly about half a dozen fixed wing and about half a dozen rotary. But I am in no rush. Also the exchange rate for the Canadian dollar costs about 37%, ouch!
As an Xbox user, its seems very unlikely that I'd be able to have installed at the same time MSFS2020 and 2024, unless I purchase an additional memory upgrade, which currently seem to be very hard to find. Unless I keep loading and unloading games & apps to my Xbox, Isn't it time for a new more powewrful Xbox with 2x or 8x more memory?
I plan to get the Premium Deluxe edition. The Deluxe only gives me one more aircraft that I really want more than the Standard (the Baron), but the Premium Deluxe adds about five others that I really want - for example the Chinook and the Airbus Helicopter (I love helicopters!) and the Globemaster. I think it has the aircraft that I will probably fly the most.
I bot the Aviator this morning. Probably should have backed off one package. I could not get a list of the last 30 planes, but at $3 per plane - Why not... I'm hoping they give discounts again for Prem Deluxe folks like in the past on future purchases. That extra money spent was returned in less than 6 months as a result of the discount pricing.
Well, that has been my problem. I could not find out what were the 30 extra planes in the Aviator package. I was busy so I just booked it sight unseen. If I already purchased them then at least I don't have to reinstall as they will be downloaded on demand. That part I like a lot. Keep up the good work. It's always a pleasure to watch and listen to you.
I can guarantee that HPG have made the H225 especially to help them sell the pd edition... so they won't make it available to buy until that contract runs out 😅... I'm going PD just for that helicopter 😅😂... maybe the C17 aswell... I never could get the freeware one to work on 20 😢.. I tried over 10 times! I think it's because I started on xbox/pc gamepass then bought it on steam, most mods work but now and then one will just not show up in game!! GEES also won't appear on my toolbar... .. so nows my chance to get that bad boy... finally lol
I've spent over $1400 on aircraft for 2020 😮😂😂😂😂 ... what's another 200.. for a whole new physics/weather and graphics system going to do... all those new planes 😍 To be fair ... I think I have spent almost that price on just the pmdg 737-900, 777-300er and the hpg h145 with action pack... 3 aircraft!! 😆 Yeah... I should probably stop when the new sim comes out lol if you add my 2020 115 aircraft to all the new ones on 24... surely.... I'm set for life haha

They need to ship it early for it to arrive by the 19th. And if you're honestly paying this much on a collector's edition with a physical items you should get it early rather than have to wait till the 19th
Collectors edition from Aerosoft. I don't have many local legends so looking forward to try them out. Also I initially purchased the Aviators edition and it cost 200 pounds, I'm pretty sure that was correct. Anyway I cancelled as I thought the EURO conversion was in my favour buying the Limited Collectors Edition from Aerosoft and it proved correct, the 262 Euros cost me 'just' 207 pounds, which I'm very happy with!
As someone who knows the worth of money and how hard it is to get it, I'll go with the standard edition. It delivers everything you need and save money to choose a payware of your choice. MSFS has plenty of airplanes and I always fly with my favorite paywares anyway. If you grow money in trees or have a rich permissive daddy, go for it and get the aviator's edition.

Also, I need to see the price in pound sterling before I make a purchase, if only because I'm a stubborn old bastard and it's not my job to do the calculations if I'm paying for something.

Will there be any difference in scenery quality between all these packages? I only care about GA aircraft, and more specifically the Cessan 152 and 172. Not at all interested in all theses jets and stuff lol
I’ll probably go for aviators edition. I paid $3,500 on building a computer specifically to run 2020. I’d rather buy all of the aircraft in a bundle than piece meal it.
for my Bday June 2025 I do beleive I will get MSFS 2024 the Premium Deluxe based on Your Review as usual and Thank You. P.s. not looking for new aircraft I am more into the aircraft that asobo already has and having them upgraded.
Well, given the specs required my 6 years old computer don't support the new one and I am not happy if I have to spend ore more time 3000 euro for a new computer. Better wait and see what's happen even with the huge internet speed required. Really beatiful but .... maybe cost less money to restart flying for real .... 🤣🤣🤣

None, i stacked up gamepass before they upped the price and its paid for the next year so I'll the standard version and hope the handful of aircraft i bought from 2020 get updated to 2024. Since there's no discount or bonuses for pre-ordering, why would anybody do that? I'll wait for real world reviews and to get an answer to my big question: MS said essentially all MS/Adobo planes are compatible from 2020, so does that mean all the planes I already bought in my 2020 Premium be available to me, or just the 3rd-party models? If all, that's far more than enough, so Basic/Cheapest is fine. And how about the Dune ornithopter?
Is there a detailed list of (additional) aircraft for the Aviator Edition? The added aircraft list/pic doesn't show them. However I will play it on Game Pass (standard) first.
Most likely I’ll be using Game Pass like yourself, but as with other games like Forza and Starfield etc Xbox have been having a paid add on to upgrade to the deluxe/premium editions of those, usually around £30, so hopefully I’ll be able to upgrade to deluxe premium that way. 👍
Well flight simmers are a different breed of gamers then regular gamers. Nonetheless i'm not preordering anything. Never did and never will. Why pay full price for something you don't own? I don't buy a bread at the baker 2 weeks up front either? BUT i did enjoy buying the full package in 2020 and felt pretty good treated. However the aviator prices are just in the "normal" folks too insane and just for the real sim geeks. So i'd strongly suggest the premium not even the premium deluxe for that matter on this one.
I fail to understand why ANYONE would pre-order a digital product. I get it with a fancy new car or any physical product. But for digital services and software there is NO limit to how many could be sold, and therefore absolutely NO benefit in pre-ordering anything this way. This is kind of a retail marketing scam, where people are suckered into a transaction fuelled by their desperation and excitement for the game. Needless to say, I shall not be pre-ordering anything and in fact probably won't buy it anywhere near launch date. Pre-ordering doesn't give you any kind of priority on that day does it? You'll be competing with half a trillion other desperate people downloading terabytes of data, so guaranteed to be very frustrating experience for all. I'll probably start with the game pass edition and will consider paying for a copy much later on, when things have stabilised. Unfortunately MS are adopting the £ for $ approach on pricing, so for all the editions just exchange the currency icon but the amount is the same. Only difference is UK will be paying tax at 20% included in the prices, whereas US either don't have to pay tax on this kind of purchase or it will be added after (at far lower rates than 20%). Before I part with any money I'm waiting to see what people actually think of the product and editions, to make a choice. Saying this, Premium Deluxe seems to be the sweetspot, doesn't it?!
@Huddison I am quite happy with the 40th anniversary premium deluxe edition, + I have a lot of marketplace aircrafts. I think that I'll wait a couple of years for the patched, bugs free half-price sales.

Yes, there's a lot of new stuff, even with the base package, to come.
I am interested in the Aviator Edition. But I may wait 6 months or so to work the bugs out of it.....
could you do a segment on how the game pass utimate works? for xbox s console simmers?
Gamepass Ultimate allows you to use both PC & Xbox Gamepass games/apps on one subscription.
Tried to pre-order on steam yesterday but no sign of it on there but my choice would be premium deluxe.
My edition is first, wait for a minimum of 18 months. Second, buy chipest one.
Well, given the specs required my 6 years old computer don't support the new one and I am not happy if I have to spend ore more time 3000 euro for a new computer. Better wait and see what's happen even with the huge internet speed required. Really beatiful but .... maybe cost less money to restart flying for real .... 🤣🤣🤣
Forget them conversation rates it's normally $ = £ here in the UK , Amazon want £129.99 for PD version mate.
If you're viewing the same one that I am on Amazon: that's for the _steelbook_ edition
@@Huddison Yes pal but you just know we will get shafted here in the UK as normal it's everything we buy. Just look at the PS5 pro $699 and in the UK it's still £699. Hope I am wrong but it is normally dollar for pound these days.
@@karlluinen5034 I fear you could be right; not great to be a UK'er nowadays eh :(
US doesn’t have VAT so EU and UK prices are not a straight currency conversion ‘cos we need to at 20% vat as well
Choose…., still trying to enjoy all of 2020……😳✈️
Preordered the collectors edition this morning
None, i stacked up gamepass before they upped the price and its paid for the next year so I'll the standard version and hope the handful of aircraft i bought from 2020 get updated to 2024. If not then I just don't care and fly them in 2020 and see what they have in the marketplace for 2024.
When my gamepass expires, 2024 will by then be being sold at a discount, and then I'll think about picking it up or not.
I would like to know how it runs on Xbox before I order.
Yes, we need info on that asap.
I bought the deluxe version 2020 and have had trouble for most part of it in my area the internet is too congested and I think my series s is going to struggle big time I'm going to wait to see videos of how it goes on console
I'll certainly be testing on my series S.
@@Huddison I've been looking through my files on Xbox s and have two versions of msfs one been the off line world and the 40th anniversary edition do you know if I need the off line part of it
@@markybanjo108 You can uninstall the offline component, but if you disconnect mid flight, your flight will cease and you will be unable to continue. Not sure if your flight progress is lost, but I think you're booted back to main menu.
Hello Hudderson, could you please tell me if fs2024 will have replay mode for Xbox?
Thanks, Charles.
I think it's coming for all platforms Charles; but we have limited info atm.
Games pass for me until the first sale as feel cheated as no currency difference.
That sounds wise mate.
Do you know if you can preorder for Xbox? And if I install it, what happens to msfs2020??
You can pre-order for Xbox and they will be separate sims.
@@Huddisonthank you xx
I paid for it on marketplace R2500.00 (🇿🇦) but do I have to also buy the disc for Xbox too?
@@glendamellet4313 Your pre-order should cover the digital download of it.
Premium Deluxe
I plonked down my bag of coin on the Aviator Edition.
Premium Deluxe because of the Saab 340B
What about the airports? I chose Deluxe for FS2020 and I might do it again here.
I don't have any info on the airports currently.
If you get the Dulux as opposed to the Deluxe do you get a big old English sheepdog?
😁
@@Huddison sorry, I couldn't resist 😂 Absolutely love the content you do.
@@exiledmackem73 Thanks ;)
Is there a detailed list of (additional) aircraft for the Aviator Edition? The added aircraft list/pic doesn't show them. However I will play it on Game Pass (standard) first.
It's pretty much these: forums.flightsimulator.com/t/local-legends-and-famous-fliers-my-view/640164
None of them they are over priced i am sticking with msfs 2020
Any idea how well this will run on xbox series x ?
We don't have footage on how well it'll run on Xbox yet. I feel that the Series X will be fine though.
@@Huddison I'm really curious to see. Time will tell.
The standard is pretty good for people already have bunch of addons
Agreed.
Wish we knew which airports we are getting!
I'm sure we will learn more soon (or hope we do).
No mention of XBox??
I did mention it; but it'll run on both (with differing results). It'll be interesting to see how it pans out eh ;)
That’s because everyone wants that C17 they see the PC players flying. This will be a different developer though.
Let's hope you'll be able to.
Can’t wait for 2026
When I checked the UK prices all they did was change the $ sign to an £ sign
It's because they know Brits are dumb enough to pay more than everyone else.
Standard
Can you use these planes in msfs 2020 right Away?
I don't believe so.
give it a couple of months of hotfixes first i think ...like the last time.
😅the prices were on the website and were exact same 1 to 1 Pounds v dollars.
Yes, see the pinned comment.
Will it be out on steam
It should be.
I’m not paying £75 for Dulux 😂
Standard I think
Premium Deluxe for me
I'm tempted.
For me De luxe version.
Flight simmers are an affluent bunch ;)
Xbox store... standard £69.99, Deluxe £99.99, Premium £129.99, Aviator £199.99
Yes, we got shafted again.
@Huddison I am quite happy with the 40th anniversary premium deluxe edition, + I have a lot of marketplace aircrafts. I think that I'll wait a couple of years for the patched, bugs free half-price sales.
Premium Deluxe, but still not sure whether from the Microsoft Store or Steam edition. Any suggestions here folks?
Which version have you bought more addons with?
@@Huddison I currently have the Windows Store version. Bought quite a few aircraft and some scenery both in-game as well as externally. Won’t these work if I go for the Steam version?
@@ElliotCassar No: for whatever reason, purchases you make on Steam (or Vice Versa) and not transferable to the Store version).
