At min 30 of the video, I agree with ronin about the wheel labeling. If we as consumers spending this amount of money on a wheel, it should be used for everything. We are not sponsored to get so many wheels at our stable fot free 😂 I waited so long to find the perfect wheel as a new rider and finally jumpped the trigger om the lynx because its all around usage wheel.

I am with Ronin with regards to the category of wheel topic - Ive sold off my V12HT and CP mini because they were too bulky for my enjoyment. Stuck to my 18XL for over 4000 miles and will side grade to the S16 Pro just for the suspension and the tire option that will allow me to ride on bumpier terrain. I'd like to have more speed on tap theoretically, but my idea of fun is to have lightweight safety gear and just cruise in residential areas between 25-30mph early in the morning.

  • @soonny002
    @soonny002 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

32:00 I agree with Ronin about not trying to exclude the wider market by appealing to niche riders. Of course it's impossible to design a wheel that does it all, but most wheels have capabilities that overlap significantly and it is usually the rider that makes the most difference in how it performs. The riders vary in skill level, risk tolerance, height/weight, riding styles, and they choose what terrain to ride on.
Honestly, I just want better customer support and quality control for existing wheels. Perhaps launch one or two new wheels each year but not half a dozen!

Agreed it just a battery thing, same motor, no difference in top speed, just more torque I guess from being able to discharge faster, negatives are they say cycle count on black one is reduced compared to GB version, just what I have read and heard.

I'm just a poor old man and I intend to buy a wheel this year, Maybe this month.
Anyway, you keep saying $4000 like that is a lot and in a way it is but before finding these wheels I was looking at $15k or $20k ebikes. And snowmiles. $20 or $30k. Wheels are way more versatile than a snowmobile and way more interesting than an ebike and by comparison, actually cheap.

Not sure I want to chance Ebay for this.
I'm thinking about the KS s16 pro. Might last me a long time. Also the inmotion V11Y but I am probably going to be more trail than street because of the law so KS s16 is maybe a better choice.
I know it might be a little tougher to learn on than something less but since I have no real need for speed I might not need to upgrade for a long time until I need range.
Do you think the KS s16 pro is a reasonable choice? Or do I sound crazy? lol

Personal opinions are going to vary widely among EUC enthusiasts. My concerns with the KS-s22 series is that the design of the suspension sliders was poorly executed. The "fix" came from the community which came in the form of roller-sliders as a 'temporary measure'. Instead of overhauling the original design flaw, the 'temporary fix' of roller-sliders was propagated to Kingsong's entire line-up thereby sabotaging all future Kingsong suspension wheel owners to expensive yearly maintenance or monthly cleanings if you go off-road or in rain.
That said, I don't think that this should heavily influence your decision because no unicycles were really designed to last a long time. I just recommend padding the hell out of your wheel based on the number of s18 wheels I've seen with absurd amounts of body panel damage.
I've got a KS-16x and I think it's one of the best non-suspension wheels available but I won't touch any of the suspension variants until proof of longevity is demonstrated to be possible through the aftermarket parts provided from community members.
I you want to jump in to the EUC sport full-steam ahead, then I'd consider the Commander Mini; it has outrageously positive feedback and is fairly well designed. It won't be a commonly purchased wheel but it should last much longer than the Kingsong series.
Don't underestimate the willingness of retailers to help you make this decision. Good luck with your new addiction to EUcs.

@@grb1969 I saw a video where they mentioned that you can get a choice of shocks on the S16 pro and I saw another one with a Begode shock.
Part of my reasoning was that it is supposed to be waterproof.
I live on the northern tip of Vancouver Island. It rains here. LOL
I had sort of decided to purchase from EEVEEs in Vancouver.
They don't sell the Commaner Mini.
I am not bent tottaly on purchasing through them but they are likely the only place I actually will ever have the chance to visit. 500 miles away though and a $100 plus ferry ride X 2.

In my opinion, the updating of existing wheels is good. Because I think for most wheels, a refinement is a good idea. For exaple: the Master pro gets an iteration with IPrating and better lights for starts. Then they might include better electronics for safety. Then one for better build quality etc. then, after a couple of iterations, the wheel will be great. Instead of building a completely new wheel 6 times a month, refine existing ones.
I understand the handful of people who want the latest and greatest and highest speed. But I need a reliable commuter that can go a 100+ km with reasonable speed and weather resistant. I want a practical comfortable wheel.

    Fantastic show!
EUC racing is poor marketing strategy to grow the organic adoption rates needed to expand production/sales. All EUC companies seem to have no clue as to how to effectively increase consumer demand; it's actually sad to watch because marketing is a complex problem to solve, whereas advertising is easy but ineffective.

Racing has been very important in promoting cars. So I can understand that they try it.

    • @grb1969
      @grb1969 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@bobdebouwer7835 yes, but that’s an illusion because racing revenues have never exceeded the costs, it’s simply sponsored advertising at best, which is only feasible when driving mass-marketability.
Even sports as popular as ski-racing require ‘artificial subsidies’ to rationalize their costs. Remember the X-games and how injuries skyrocketed because they structured the games for maximum carnage? No thanks, it’s literally a dead-end for everyone concerned.
Sorry for the negativity, let’s end on a brighter note. I believe EUCs will out-sell both cars and motorcycles within 10-12 years. Technology is currently in development for a completely self-balanced, ride -stabilized EUC with traction control and power-assisted steering agility and powered jump-assist (like Mario Bros.). Stability-assist will probably be available within a few years, later evolving into an EUC that can ride across black-ice or hydroplane without loss of control. In about 10-15 years, gyro-assisted inverted-aerials will be possible on flat ground; wheel-assisted orientation control will enable multiple flips with precision landings given minimal experience. {imagine jumping over that road block rather than slowing down} Research is currently underway in Singapore.
EUCs are the future, and imho only EUC robot racing is worth funding at this point so all efforts and business expenses will likely result in bankruptcy for all involved in the current situation. Let’s hope that people invest as little time and effort possible in this racing game, and maximize the fun and joy that comes from riding with the EUC community of their choice.
I can understand why racing has encouraged to support EUC visibility but it’s still an extremely ignorant and regressive form of marketing strategy that externalizes loses to retailers and consumers.
There’s a place for racing EUCs but following failed business models of the past is probably the worst place to begin. Unfortunately, this problem is much more complicated due to the lack of financial experience in this industry (which is why Bob got fired… it was a premeditated hit job, imo).

I recently saw there’s an electronically triggered airbag backpack that can immobilize a helmet protecting your spine and chest called the hmoov from helite which doesn’t seem to compromise comfort much. I’m saving up for one rn.

I think InMotion is doing what car companies do. They make a model, and then put out a new update of the model with a few more features every other year. Unlike Begode who put out a totally new EUC model totally different from the rest of their models.
I like Inmotion business model of improving the model that is already out vs making a new wheel every time.
Inmotion is basically listening to feedback and making the changes. People wanted more range on the V13, so they put more range on the V13 Pro. People wanted more speed on the V11, so the V11Y has more speed
The New V12 needs suspension. No new wheel should be without suspension

With regards to the topic of how to make euc racing apealling: the best way would be to showcase something that is particular to euc as compared to other types of vehicle, as well as putting the euc's to the test in ways that actually messes with the ego of the manufacturers (not only begode and veteran competing to see who can make the fastest wheel, going in a strait line, without any imperfections on the road). Personally, I would really like to see unicycle rallying (actuall rallies, not races that are called rally only in name). Something that tests not only the speeds but also battery life, battery sag, reliability, traction over difficult terrain and torque both at hight and low speeds (when going up a hill or cornering).

Hsiang, I think you're underselling how much safety there is left to get out of wheels. Redundant hall sensors, parallel batteries for safe fail states, protection against water ingress, and IEC/UL battery ratings are all areas where improvements can be made. I've been looking at picking up a wheel to take to work and it's hard for me to park anything but the Lynx (or the V14 once they get UL testing done) at my job as we have a lot of major fire hazards. Would another wheel be okay? Probably. But I find I can't morally justify risking millions of dollars of property damage without at least having independent safety testing on their batteries. Things like an extra hall sensor seems little, and probably is in the grand scheme of things, but for older riders taking a fall even at lower speeds can really ruin your day.

I just wondered if they could put more technology in the tilt back parameters? And yes comparing the resources between motorcycle companies and EUC companies is apples and oranges in terms of R&D resources etc. Jus meant that the technology is out there and somewhere down the road I won't be surprised to see some of it trickle down so to speak. ET MAX, the only thing we know for sure of is, that it has curve magnets. GT PRO does not have curve magnets. This is why gt pro has a higher top speed. Now theres been debates on the RC world of curve magnets vs flat magnets. Results are Curve magnets are better in many many ways and it does induce a better top speed under load. Now the question is how much of a load can it be compared to when the free spin top speed is 29MPH higher.

While I agree with you that $4,000 is a high price point for and EUC, many of the cyclist enthusiasts (non-ebike bicycles) that I see on the paved bike trails I ride, easily spend that much on their bikes with no motor, no electronics, etc. And the real serious cyclists spend $10K-$15K on their bicycles, which is crazy to me.. Just something to consider when we are feeling that we are spending a lot of $$

Love the type of video, I dont agree at all with Ronin's perspective with racer wheels and riders.. around the world there are over 1000 ppl that buy the high performance wheels and you guys dont understand how many wheels kingsong sell ( the smaller 16x wheels) ... they & inmotion are the companies with the most sales according to a few of the industry or ex ceo including BOB from Inmotion , He recently said people don't understand how many smaller wheels kingsong sells. The racing (performance wheels are a smaller market & thats why u see kingsong focusing on smaller wheels.

The lynx is 1000 dollars cheaper if you buy it in Thailand as it is closer to china & they are much cheaper there even according to the YT Guy that lives in thai... all I was saying is the smaller wheels sell so much more & that is a fact.

Suspension euc center of gravity is way to high off the ground compared to a non suspension , it takes way to much to just control the euc over a non. suspension euc . especially with wind . You don't see a race cars that are jacked up off the ground . Low center of gravity makes it way easier to control and Manuever. Moto Gp bikes are lowered for better center of gravity and control . Suspension euc are like monster trucks with suspension very hard to control and Manuever. On a race track why do you need suspension on flat ground all that extra weight and is way less stable , keep it simple non suspension way less crap to replace way better control , people with weak legs need suspension ,. My opinion the veteran Sherman is the best overall euc ever made .

I disagree with your unusual contention that there's no safe motorcycle & so there's no safe EUC's. safety as you know in EUc's are implemented by a higher voltage for less cutouts, by better suspension, brighter front & rear lighting and also by better batteries for less fires. Inmotion clearly & successfully focuses on safety as a part of their brand
