Everything you say in this video just makes me feel even more strongly about there needing to be a 4x battletech game starting in the age of war. Something like stellaris/hearts of iron/crusader kings. It's really a good time in the BTech universe to start massive conflict and see where territories shake out.
I think doing a a two part campagin where part you fight a desperate but losing battle as the magistracy, outworlds or taurians and than the second part you play as the descendants direct or otherwise of the characters during the new vandenberg uprising would be really cool and maybe the gm could rank how well you do in part 1 to get extra bits of gear or whatever for the second part.
the thing that I use the starleague era for is tech advances. the battletech history shows us repeatedly that early designs are not recognized for their importance until much later. the K-F drive, myomer, the early industrial mechs prior to the mackie. while later era's; jihad, dark age/republic and ilclan, have a lot of new tech options, ALL of those advanced items had to originate somewhere. things like the Helm memory core, lostech, and castle Brian's allow players to use older items in the later era's. however, the starleague years are great for introducing 'prototype' designs for anything in the game. you can modify them with quirks, problems and inefficiency issues.
Comment interaction go up! Tbh this went up faster than I perhaps initially thought. Is Butte Hold looking like a weekly thing? Edit: I'd love to hear more about the Republic era. I got into Battletech around the Dark Age, and having since worked backwards down the timeline, I have very little idea about what's going on in the Republic era.
Weekly is my hope, yeah. I already have next week's episode prepped and ready to go (had to record it this week since I'm out of the house all next week). As for the Republic Era, I do think I want to talk about it a bit but I need to brush up on it first.
@@realbloodydoves no I get that. If I could go back in time I learn how to do programming in college instead of what I did do. Then I'd be neck-deep in trying to make those kinds of things happen

I'd love to see such a game. Call me, Microsoft!

Thanks! Really appreciate it!
I think the next big Mech PC game being set in the Star League era is a great idea.
It'd be great, honestly.
I'd love to see some linked Flashoints!!!

@@realbloodydovescan't wait for it! Have a good week ;)
You said you wanted a star league era 0 BattleTech game. Is it that hard to develop a plot-based campaign in the BattleTech / BTA game?
Hard is a big word. Time-consuming is a better word. It's possible but just takes a lot of time and effort.
