I have a 2018 vented candy in need of a new capacitor which I’ve ordered. Don’t think side panel comes off. Any tips to help me succeed and avoid sending it to landfill appreciated! Thanks
Super helpful. Thank you. My candy grand comfort’s side and back panels were all one folded metal unit and the panels had tac welding to undo at the front. I fitted an 8uF capacitor but seems the original was actually a 7uF. Should this be OK?
Did you get an answer for this? Or did you try it? Ordered a part from a candy spares site and I used their model finder to identify the part but they sent a 7uF and after dismantle found the one installed is a 5uF.
@@grumpyoldstonerdayz58 I did not get an answer but an 8uF worked well in replacing my 7uF capitor. I am not sure if it will work for your 2uF difference. Wish I could be more helpful.
@@lefinlan Not to worry, thanks for the reply. Glad to hear yours worked out well. I'm not entirely sure about the bigger difference now you mention it.... googled as I was typing this reply and found the answer, keep forgetting about that handy tool... "Can you replace a start capacitor with a higher or lower uF? Yes, there is a large amount of leeway with start capacitors but you need to be a little bit careful. Too small a capacitor will result in weak starting torque and the motor could stall start and overheat, which is very bad." We will be fine lol. Thanks again.
I've followed this and changed the capacitor with a brand new one and the drum still not spinning, does this mean that the motor is blown? It's only 12 and a half months old thanks
If done correctly with insulated screwdriver or pliers, it is perfectly safe a capacitor can hold a charge, even when there is no power to the machine. This is why you safely discharge it before handling it.
Great stuff mate. Mine just stopped working tonight in exactly that way.

Hi the new build style is called EOLO, on the condenser version the pump can now be accessed via the back of the machine.

First time seeing a hoover with side panels and access to the pump from the back. About time

@@dougwilzcapacitor and pulley changes can be done without taking the drum out. Best to practice with a old motor but easily done

Discharging a capacitor gives me the fear 😰

Changed 100s, never had a belt off them, never discharged them 😅
