You simply find the beginning of the plait at the base, slide it up and out from the loc. Then you can either undo the knot and slide out from the plait, carefully cut just the loop of the loc and it comes right off the hair, or unbraid the plait and the loc should come off.
Scheduled an appointment to get this done. Hairstylist said $250... immediately looked up "how to install faux locs" lol definitely doing this on my own.
Two reasons I stopped getting the regular faux locs 1) the price in MULTIPLE countries was crazy 2) It takes TOO long. I went to crotchet faux locs and NEVER looked back
Absolutely gorgeous. I did this method all around the perimeter of my head, but cornrowed the rest. It turned out well and it took less time than the individual all over.
Girl I know I’m late to the party but just started doing my own hair and couldn’t find any video to show how to properly add the hair to the hook… thank you so much for going slow for us folks in the back 🎉❤😊
i saw this tutorial 3 years ago and have been doing this style ever since. i always get so many compliments and questions on how it’s done. best believe i send them right here! great video thank you 🙏🏾
But why did a 5-year old video save my life? Need it for an upcoming trip and I'm loving how it looks so far. Only did 2 locs but it's such a vibe already!
I love your directions. Forward and straight to the point. Some videos I see people do a whole story before getting to the point. This was by far the best crochet video. Thank you!
Hey Kim! I used you method and people are going nuts over my hair! I’m a makeup artist and they’re trying to convert me to a hairstylist 😂😂. Thank you so much!
Good lord I have been TH-cam searching the shortest way possible to do faux without having to twist and I just found one. This is by fair the best and only tuturioal I've ever seen out of a whole lot. You seriously just rescued me from going to a hairdresser which I hate cause I have coarse 4c hair and I hate the way they handle my hair (it hurts) Thank you. I am Grateful.
1:32 ooo that is so smart. I've never seen someone do this like you did, usually people undo some of the twist to hide real hair, but this is much faster and easier. Great tutorial, thanks.
hairbug1985 It takes fooooorrrrreeeever to do if you aren't good at it AND you have longer hair!!! I did them and it took me like 10 hours! They looked BOMB though.
OMG! I love this method. I did faux locs in my moms hair this weekend. Had no idea what I was doing, just watched a few videos. But I braided her hair all the way to the end and attempted to wrap that braid into the loc. Some locs were really good and some were a hot mess and I could see the braid. But this method seems soooo much easier. I'm gonna try this if she wants me to do it again.
I've done this a few times and it works just fine...I've started to cornrow the crown of the my head so that I don't have as much work because I mostly wear these up. THANKS HONEY!
Going on vacation in 2 days, scheduled an appointment to have passion twist done for $200, day after I got my passion twist done, the twist started unraveling, causing me to panic. Given that I would be in and out of water and not up to bothering with my hair on vacation, I needed a quick fix. Found your video, order some crochet locs from Amazon, they’ll be here in the morning, and I’ll be using this method to install. I wish I’d found your video sooner. You’re a life saver! I won’t ever spend a dime paying someone for any style again!
🤣🤣 me too. I hate a 'spinnanight' date and when I woke up I had like 5 lox on his pillow 😩 so glad I woke up before he did. Ima leave this one to the women who actually know what they doing.
Beautiful!!!! but Giiiiiiiiiirrrrrrrrlllllll you have the patience level of Jesus Christ lol ain't no way I could sit there and do all those braided plaits then the crochet too...You are so patient and talented! You save yourself so much money by doing your own hair and it always turn out beautiful! Great job! xoxo
Thank you for this I have long curly hair and love braids but want to try the faux locks. I was worried in the beginning but the close up was so helpful! ❤
So I've been dying my hair since I can remember, and just recently started using extension after a coworker suggested it and I feel in love with the look and the feeling of my hair not being dead from all the chemicals in hair dye. My mom's been trying to find an easy tutorial to install my dreads, and I came across this video while searching, and honestly I don't even think imma want to take my hair out this round like i did when it was time for my braids to be removed
I saw this video when I first started my natural hair journey and thought it was super cute and a great tutorial! Now two years later I watched again so I can try on my own hair 🤞🏾
Thank you so much! I am trying this today! I spent 6 hours yesterday prepping my hair into squares and braiding my hair halfway down. Today I will start the crochet process! I really appreciate your tutorial. Holy Spirit help me make this turn out beautiful like hers! :D lol
OMG, this is THEEEE best tutorial on how to do faux locs!!! Especially for us girls who don’t know how to cornrow. I wish we could post our results on your page!
Im SO EXCITED!!! I'm doing my hair today!! I was nervous to go to get this done professionally because if I didn't like it I would take it down and waste alot of money this is easy Thank you so much!!!
Thank you for showing the securing technique up close. I went through a few other videos that sped through without showing us how to pull the faux loc back through the loop to tighten at the base. Now I get it and I can't wait to install my locs!! Thank you🙌🏾🥰🥰🥰
I followed this video and it came out great however! This being my first time it took me 4-5 hours just to do 2 rows. I ended up just crocheting the back
I’m gonna have to try this next. I just recently started trying protective styles on my hair since it’s still super short, and I tried box braids first and I had two meltdowns but pushed through, and this looks so much easier then having to continuously add more hair.
Omg this is truly the quickest and simplest method I have found. My hair is short and I done them with yarn and it took 2 days. This method I can get done in 2 hours
I think maybe my braids were too big. But it helps if you pull the ventilator then scoot the hair over it, then pull the tool again then do that again. Idk if that makes sense but it worked for me lmao
I just want you to know ..this is my first time doin my locs.. i like ur video of showing me how to do my locs ...well after watching your video ...i went to see if anyone else is explaining the same. Way..Nope..Im glad you made this video easy...👑❤🔥💯

Thank you for this video! I can’t tell you how hard it was to find a video using actual packaged faux locs 🤦🏽♀️ Every video I watched, someone made the loc first theeeen installed it. I’m like noooo! I’m trying to take the easy way out 😂
Beautiful! You did a wonderful job. Thanks so much my hair dresser left a loc undone and i didn't want to have to go all the way back to get it fes through, this helps tremendously
You explain it perfectly! I have very fine hair and I decided to get my hair crocheted because the other way was ripping my hair out. I believe I can do this myself. Thanks! You're a great teacher!
Lmao its funny I love crochet because it actually looks like the real thing its quicker to put in and quicker to take out....I will be damned if I sit there and braid my hair one by one and put in crochet hair one by one😂😂😭😂and girl taking this out😩😩hell no😶I would be sitting in the mirror mad cuz my arms about to fall offf
How would you take them out ?
You simply find the beginning of the plait at the base, slide it up and out from the loc. Then you can either undo the knot and slide out from the plait, carefully cut just the loop of the loc and it comes right off the hair, or unbraid the plait and the loc should come off.
TheChicNatural i love your videos
TheChicNatural is it possible for you to show us in your videos how to remove it?
I absolutely love it! I will try it on my daughter. And you look incredibly amazing! Thank you.
TheChicNatural what length are the Locs?

As someone who can’t cornrow no matter how many times my aunties tried to show me, I am so thankful I found this method 🙌🏽

TheChicNatural Thanks!
Where did you post the link for the beautiful top? It's not in the description.
TyKeidra Young It is beautiful! I was staring at her doing her hair so hard that I didn't even notice it! lol

Interior Beauty I said the same thing
Interior Beauty that's why me and my three sisters do each other hair together 😭 saves time and we dont charge each other. +sister bonding
Taja Brown awww😩😩 I wish I had sisters like yours. Mines don't even know how to braid
Me too I don't even have any sister😢😢😢
Randi Steen me neither 😕
Looks really good 😊 can you do a take down video as well ?
Theyloveliz I agree
Theyloveliz I was wondering the same thing!
Yes! I was curious too...I wonder if they get tangled with the hair.
Theyloveliz I get the feeling the take down can lead to a tangled mess
I'm betting the take down you have to be really careful bc I like to cut my braids/ locs out. I can see where you can accidentally cut your real hair
I did this and left this in for 3 months. Awesome style.
How do you take them down?
@@33942986 cut at the loop or cut below and unravel the faux loc from the tip of your natural braid.

I wonder if I could just do that from the crown of my head forward and still cornrow the back just to make is easier and faster. Has anyone tried??
She did another video with the method you are describing
If done that! With Senegalese twists !
I’ve watched this video so many times, and still can’t get my hair through the Loc 🤣🤣🤣 she makes it look so easy... mines was a mess 🤣🤣🤣

She probably struggled too, just edit out those parts so we’d fall for it and attempt it ourselves 😂

My issue is how do i cut them out without cutting into my own natural hair? Are you able to make a video on the takedown please?

Sounds easy enough... my arms hurt already 💀 and I’m out of patience😂😂😂
NOPE! Did 4 braids and gave up. Not nearly as ez as she makes it seem. But her hair is beautiful!
So helpful! Another quick way to insert the braid into the loc is you use a large yarn needle to feed the hair through.
How the heck do you fit the crochet needle through? I’m sitting here stressed cause they won’t fit through my locs
I just recently tried this method and my real hair started coming thru the dread....while on vacay😨😨
